  1. I airways thought DHL stood for Drop it, Hide it, Lose it. Didn't realise the D actually stands for Drive a forklift straight through it!
  2. @Dolando makes some beautiful instruments. https://www.dolancustomguitars.co.uk/
  3. I bought one of these recently - very affordable and does the job nicely. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pa_100_power_attenuator.htm Works great with my Ashdown CTM30 at home getting the back end to drive. I'll mainly be using it more as a dummy load box than an attenuator though so that when the CTM30 isn't loud enough for gigs I can just slave another amp off it.
  4. It's not a valve power section so should be safe to operate without a speaker load. Should work fine with the Phonebox as far as I can see as long as it has a speaker out to connect to.
  5. These used to be mine. Lovely sounding cabs! Just out of interest they were originally owned by Paul Turner (Jamiroquai etc.) which he confirmed for me through Facebook.
  6. That's interesting. I can see why they've brought out the new ABM600 rack head in the same form factor. You can get the dual VU styling but without having to pay for ask the extra connectivity options on the Geezer that most people will never use. To be fair though, if I was looking to buy another amp it would probably be the new CTM200 anyway.
  7. I'm curious. Apart from the valve drive which I understand is a bit different to suit Geezer's requirements, are these actually voiced any differently to the standard ABM?
  8. Mark Gooday has just mentioned on Facebook that they are considering offering servicing on TE gear - incase anybody might find that useful.
  9. Ah, but can she play and ride a unicycle?

  11. I have a luthier/guitarist friend with a workshop on an industrial park about 5 minutes drive from my home. This evening we'll be taking advantage of the good weather and the fact there are no residents nearby to upset and will be getting together for a bit of a jam in the carpark outside his unit. I think it'll genuinely be hugely beneficial for my mental wellbeing and I'm really looking forward to it but if it was going to be in an enclosed space I wouldn't be taking the risk right now, even if the regulations were to change to allow it.
  12. Not the only bargain to be had at the moment. I spotted this little jem on Facebook marketplace earlier - a lovely "custom handmade" SX bass that was apparently £600 new. So not the identical, machine made, mass produced, budget SX bass available new on Amazon for £198.99 at all then? 🤔
  13. Excluding all the private secondhand purchases / trades, my buying record has been: 4 basses purchased online untried. 9 purchased from the shop where I tried them out. One tried in a shop first and then purchased online. This however was when I AB'd two different basses in a shop and did actually buy one of them from there. I then decided to buy the other a few months later but just happened to order it online as there was a good deal available at the time. I do prefer to support actual shops where possible. Even buying from the bigger stores like Anderton's, PMT (and of course Dawson's) that do have an online presence as well, still helps to keep shop staff employed. As far as how successful my purchases have been through either route, there's not really much in it. Of the basses that I currently own (and I am very happy with all of them) one was bought online untried, one from the shop where I tried it out and the other two were secondhand and bought privately.
  14. I ordered a power attenuator on Friday the 15th and it arrived at 11:30AM on Tuesday the 19th. Really can't complain about that for over a weekend!
  15. Just received a compressor pedal from Jamie. Nice easy transaction and a decent bloke to deal with. Cheers mate! 👍
  16. Do it!!! What's the worst that could happen? 😈
  17. Jason wasn't recording with Sadowskys until the Load/Reload stuff. I believe most of ...And Justice For All was recorded using a Spector.
  18. Fair enough. I guess I'll just have to risk Mrs Painy's wrath by setting it all up in the house and trying it out! 😁
  19. Question for @Bill Fitzmaurice (or anyone else that can work it out for me): If I am using an all valve amp (so the watts will stay the same even if the impedance changes) and ignoring any variables that might come into the equation from mixing driver sizes - What would be the effect on volume (in terms of both dB and perceived volume) if I have one cab where the total speaker surface area is 1480 inches sq. and I then add a second cab which has a speaker surface area of 1180 inches sq?
  20. And my final instalment - this cheep Sonicake Volume / Wah!
  21. Great player who always looks like he's thoroughly enjoying himself. I find the banter that goes on between him and Hadrien Feraud in some of their YouTube videos quite amusing too.
  22. Just get yourself a couple of these and you can run 8 8ohm cabs off of one 4ohm minimum head! 😁 Each pair of 8 ohm cabs in parallel will give you 4 pairs at 4 ohms each. Use each cab-merger to connect 2 pairs of cabs in series giving you 2 banks of 4 cabs each at 8 ohms total. Simple! 🙂
