1. It's not going to convince me to buy a Suzuki or a 5 string, I'm strictly a Harley and Fender Precision man.
2.
wearing trousers that irritate us. It's one of the miracles of human civilisation that even though you would think that there were only limited variations possible in trouser design, each subsequent generation nevertheless invents a type of trouser that the previous generation finds irritating.
I think you're underestimating the importance of trousers in rock n roll history https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB0MxBMMKHM
3. D'Addario were giving them away with 2-packs of bass strings a year or two back. I have a couple.
4. Only 20 miles from me, but I can't leave the house at the moment. I know nothing about the bass, are they any good?
5. It's almost 3 years since I sold up over there after living there since 1996. I still feel I don't want to return as a tourist yet.
6.
Good luck Dave
Cheers, Not played today as wrist and fingers were very stiff after yesterday (whole session of physio, not just the bass playing!)
7.
Pekko Käppi, Antti Paalanen and the Esko Järvelä Epic Male Band at the Tavastia club in Helsinki at the end of March. Antti Paalanen and the Esko Järvelä Epic Male Band were fabulous at the Kihaus festival last year, but seeing Pekko Käppi will be a new experience for me.
Just seeing all those Finnish names here makes me miss Finland so much
8.
That sounds like it must have been a very serious accident. All the best with your recovery.
Thanks, the surgeon said he hadn't a foot injury quite like mine before, and the other surgeon saw my hand as the real challenge, but assured me I would be able to gig on March 12th. So far, so good.
9.
Good to hear that you're on the mend. But what about the Harley...?
Still trying to find out how buggered it is, I was unconcious when it was taken away and have no memory at all of the following two weeks. It'll be rebuilt if the frame is oK.
10.
I'm not going to seek the advice of a 21 year old on the future of rock and roll being played live in clubs. I'm not sure rock and roll is even relevant to most 21 year olds. Blue
And there lies the problem. Today's 21 year olds will soon be tomorrow's middle aged and older, and as most musical tastes are formed when teenagers, rock wil have had its day. Thankfully, so will I, as it's not a world I want any art of.
11.
It would seem like you are well on the road to recovery, but I'd be careful about overdoing the playing. Hope you are back rockin' full time soon.
Thanks, I stop when it gets painful...today that was two songs. The next gig I'm scheduled to play is March 12th, so plenty of time to get the fingers fit.
12. I had one of my regular visits from my physiotherapist today (it's a long story involving me on my Harley and a car looking the wrong way at a roundabout) who is helping me to recover from the multiple fractures in my right wrist (the all important 'rhythym fingers') and I asked her if I was able to resume playing bass, as I haven't opened a case since a couple of weeks before my accident nearly 2 months ago. 'Of course' she replied, and pulled out my sunburst P bass, which I had a quick twang on acoustically while she watched. 'Good exercise for the wrist and fingers" she told me and advised me to make it a part of my daily excerise routine. If only I had some pedals to exercise my broken foot!
13. If there were no opportunities to gig I'd sell up. However, although things ain't what they (never?) were, I don't think 'end of gigging' is with us just yet.
14.
Brahms and Liszt..?
Partially, but mainly because I've removed the right arm rest from the wheelchair I am currently confined to.
15.
Ah, but I did. You're not blocked. You are on another sort of list, however.
I've been on a lot of lists in my time, but currently listing slightly to the left.
16.
I get 'disappointed' with posts too and I'm quite sure certain members get 'disappointed' with mine. However I just block 'em and carry on regardless. 17. Never felt the need to try more than four.
18. I received plenty of good advice from Alex when ordering my Super Twin but haven't had the need to try his customer service despite a good many gigs with it.
19. Good luck with the sale, though it should go easily. I bought it from a forum member in Bedford, and sold it on to someone here who sold it to Discreet. Maybe we shoud all have signed it, be quite a list by now! I bought it as a back-up, gigged it a few times and sold it when I realised I didn't need a spare. Sounded immense with a P bass and Barefaced Super Twin.
20. I can't quite make it out from the picture, is it an Evo III or a II? I only ask as Discreet had an Evo II that used to be mine, and the cover is the same as one I bought for it. Great amps, I just don't need two of them!
21. I've got a sunburst/rosewood/tort CiJ Precision, it's a good bass but still has to play second fiddle to my US standard P (white/rosewood/ tort). The pick ups in the CiJ had been mounted badly (non-vertical screw holes making it impossible to adjust PU height) so I filled and re-drilled the holes and replaced the PUs with S-D vintage.
22. My first mother in law once asked me if I played flamingo guitar, like they do in Spain.
23. Super Twin #001 is still impressing audiences, best cab I've ever owned and no plans to change it.
24. My US standard P bass has a couple of 'drummer scars', to be honest he was more upset about it than I was. We're still close friends and still playing together, the damage is part of the instrument's, and the band's history now.
