Ah very good - I'll wait for this then if that's OK, as for very good reasons I absolutely loathe PayPal with a vengeance!
No problem at all - however if you want to list something now you can still use a debit card without having a PayPal account. Just click the second option on the paypal payment page (they've tried to hide it) Otherwise, feel free to get around to it when convenient for you. Cheers all ped

Hi guys As part of the £20 'subscription' fee (although it's not a subscription, as such), you'll have exclusive access to a 'sell anything' forum which will be arriving probably tomorrow. Posts here will be visible to any logged in member (so not the general public) and only users with a £20 yearly payment against their name will be able to create threads in the forum. We thought it might be a nice thing to offer you in return for your support with the site and our development. Cheers ped
As soon as paypal decide to give me the funds that have been placed in my paypal account for several items I have sold on here (something to do with being a new memeber of pp-bulls*it if you ask me), I shall be sending the 20 quid over to yourselves. Even if you don`t intened selling anything, it is worth it! In case I have missed it, how do you donate the money? Is it just through the donate button as normal? Forget the last statement. Ped answered the question as I was typing.
Hi mate Try the new 'Support BC' page at the top of the site. Thanks for that ped
Is there somewhere where we can see out subs? Even if it is a reminder as to when it is next due....
I don't think there's anywhere on site - we were careful not to produce a system where you could identify those who have paid and those who haven't, however you could always keep your PayPal receipt as a reminder. Also remember we'll have a card payment gateway in the next week or so. Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the support everyone. Sorry about the site outage today. Please direct fellow low enders to the new 'support BC' tab at the top of the site. Cheers ped

Wow guys. I've been away for a little while with I my phone access so I've missed out on all this. I've just read through all 7 pages and what a brilliant story so far. This is why basschat is the best forum out there. What a superb idea carried out with such spirit and passion. Long may this continue and now I'll read this every day. Cheers ped
I bet if Ashley Pangbourne started making basses again there are still plenty of people who would buy them .
Especially if they have graphite necks! I didn't know about those.

Lovely looking bass. Doesn't MK have one in the 'Sun Goes Down' video? I love the headstock, too. Cheers ped

We'd hope that anyone coming here to sell items around the £50-100 mark are probably selling other items too, or at least members who have signed up for more than to sell these small value items. In that case, a donation from them for the use of the forum in general is probably a reasonable ask. We can always adjust the prices and so forth at a later stage, but to begin with we can't customise it any more because we can't afford to do so, yet. Cheers

We should be able to get it fixed next week... Colin, send me any details you have and I can get the devs on the case as soon as we've paid them!
-
Probably wouldn't mind you listing them for free.
Who's been attacking Basschat? I'd be looking closely at Banjo Hangout if I were you! :-D
Those buggers at asschat again
... and only what users have been asking to happen for years.
Yeah it's been a long time coming, but it costs a pretty penny to have the software modified to this degree.

Yah that's the long and the shirt of it. The advertising pays for day to day costs, although its a full time job trying to organise it. The development costs are what we find crippling; especially as we need tighter security and have been attacked on several occasions. We have lots of things to fix and improve, and without regular reliable finding the site will slowly grind to a halt (remember bassworld anyone?!) Thanks in anticipation of your support guys ped
I think there will definitely be less incentive to do one-off listings for things between £50 and £100. Bearing in mind that it's an up-front fee for a non-guaranteed sale, a point that bobbass4k made in the original thread. £7 is more than I was expecting - most of the concensus in the thread linked to by Hamster was for a fee of around £2 per listing. Also in that thread, Ped stated "Guys .. I've said a few times now, items under £100 or so will be free to list.". I'm a little disappointed that Ped hasn't stuck to this: lowering the limit to £50 quid is going to take a lot of things like effects pedals into that zone where it becomes a big gamble to list them.
It wasn't just my choice, and we can always raise the free limit if we can afford to do so. Better to do that than decrease the limit later on.
Do you have to pay to subscribe to the sell anything forum? like the £20 membership fee, will allow you exclusive access to that particular section?
Hi Phil Anyone who pays the £20 fee to advertise will have access. You can pay the fee to post items there exclusively if you want to, but the £20 fee gives you the right to post anything anywhere. One off £7 listings are just that, and you won't get access to the 'sell anything' forum. We don't want people signing up just to flog dirty mattresses! Hope that makes sense? Cheers
Will there be a voluntary sign-up page? Might as well go for it so I don't have to think about it again later..
It might be possible, yes - however we won't be ready until Monday, so watch this space! Thanks for the support ped
I have to hold my hand up; I don't think I've made a donation (did buy a t-shirt!) and this does seem both reasoned and reasonable. I'm sure we'd all hate to be BC-less! Interestingly, while searching for a particular fellow, I couldn't help but notice just how many zero-post members there are on here. Why sign up in that case?
Posts in the marketplace don't count, so 0 post members probably just signed up to sell, which is great for us as a buying public, hence the 'one off' fee option. It's priced to encourage users to stay around and join in. If you already have a 'for sale' post active it'll remain where it is and any new posts will be subject to the new rule. Obviously any people who try editing an old item to re-list a new one will be given an afternoon with the Spankulator! We'll probably go through a phase of locking completed sales threads for a bit but want to keep disruption to a minimum. Cheers! P.S thanks for buying a shirt - it all helps!

Just to add - EVERYONE will be able to see the classifieds items and post replies/questions/abuse as they do now Cheers ped
