1.
...or if you break a finger, eh..? Not an impossible occurrence, either.
Oi. Start your own poll, mate
2. No worries Lozz! Hope you feel better soon, mate
3. No worries Kirky! In the end we onstage pretty late (10.30pm) and the curfew was ignored. Really enjoyed the gig, lots of fun and got a great reaction (we got interviewed afterwards by a local radio station with 15,000 listeners). Will defo post up any more gigs as and when they get booked
4. Bump, pointing out very positive comments above ^^^^^ Might trade against a US or CIJ Fender (P or J) as long as it didn't have a wide neck (ie, no 57ri) - try me
5. I recently sent an EUB to Beedster (London to Wales) via ParcelForce (the only company that offers a 'large box' service). I put very prominent stickers on both sides of the box saying "Fragile - musical instrument". So Mrs Beedster comes home and finds a shredded box in her garden, with a big hole in one side, packing material blowing everywhere, and sat in the pouring rain. A covered porch was 10 feet away. Furthermore they forged Beedster's signature to pretend he had accepted delivery. Utter disgrace. Fortunately the bass was so heavily packed and solid it was unharmed. Otherwise this would really have kicked off
6. Tomorrow! Onstage 10pm and hopefully slightly earlier as they tend to wind things up at (or not much later than) 10.30pm for noise control reasons
7. I've not played either (try geoffbassist for a view on the weichs, as he is a big fan; you can see them on his DB instructional videos). From my understanding the non-weichs are relatively stiff/tense and some say they are pretty hard work on the right hand - I think its why they later introduced the weichs. I would recommend the Strings forum of TalkBass as a good resource for investigating views on these and other strings http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f17/
8. Try going into your profile ('Edit profile') and then the 'Manage attachments' page. Delete old photos and it will probably allow you to upload new pics (as there's a limit to the MB per profile)
9. Thats a rather beautiful thing, Chris. Enjoy
10. Poll added. We do love a poll
11. I like your conciseness Bilbo
12. There are numerous threads on the electric bass side about whether you need back-up strings in case of breakage on a gig etc. The consensus seems to be that very few BC'ers actually break strings on gigs but that, for peace of mind and that small percentage of breakages, a sizeable number of us do bring along a spare set of strings. So I wondered how many of you DB'ers ever keep a spare set of strings and a string winder in your DB gigbags for such an eventuality? I've not done so to date but wonder if its a good idea to do so. DB strings have some idiosyncrasies and the break point on the bridge is exposed to knocks. On the other hand a spare set of DB strings is a lot more expensive than a spare set of electric bass strings!
13. I have an extremely uncomfortable lower back at the moment. It hurts when I stand for more than 30 minutes and thus a combination of lugging gear and gigs/rehearsals usually leaves me in great discomfort, walking like some sort of twisted crab. I have resisted doing anything "girly" on the stretching/exercise front (after all, a twisted crab is pretty manly) but this sounds like something I should seriously consider, Jack
14. You know what Betjeman said about Slough. Is this going to be the sonic equivalent?

19. Bump with video from makers and testimonials http://www.youtube.c...En2jlaGd4#t=100 satisfied is an understatement! "After 2 years of looking for a professional level Acoustic bass to play in my Bluegrass band, I finally settled on the Breedlove and man was I taken by surprise a bit. Not only does this bass have a great tonal range, but the truss system helps to keep it in perfect tune 99% of the time, even after rough traveling. It looks fantastic, and the Bluegrass purists tell me it sounds the closest to my Old upright bass than any they have heard. To say I am satisfied is an understatement! My wish now is to get a custom shop model built for me, that I can play the festival tour with. I am sold, and a big thank you to "Breedlove" for their attention to detail, and excellent playability!" "Thumper" The "Cane Creek" Bluegrass Band Best Sounding Fretless Bass I just came back from checking out this fantastic fretless bass made by your company. I compared it to several others; all of them were made by well-known American, Japanese or German brands and considerably more costly (some of them more than twice as much) - but none of them could really catch up. I'd just like to let you know that this is honestly the best sounding fretless acoustic bass I've ever played - whether unplugged or amplified. And it's alo good-looking and perfectly finished. Great playability, especially the neck is wonderful! Comes equipped with good strings, too.
20. Thats a great price for a top quality, ready-made, ultra-portable DB rig. Have a bump on me
21. Sunday bump for a top quality acoustic bass that is beautifully engineered and a cut above most acoustic basses
22. Oops just checked on a map and it's closer to Old Street tube https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=paper+dress+vintage&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari&ie=UTF-8&ei=EChRUrnyEcfY0QXT5IGoBA&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAA
23. Hey Kirky, it's about 10 mins from Liverpool Street tube. If you can make it, come and say hello and I'll buy you a drink

25. PS, here is the LR Baggs preamp which has a comprehensive EQ section and phase switch (this is a different Baggs preamp from the one shown in the BassDirect link, hence I thought it best to add to thread)
