Cost me about £105 including post. These are excellent gut-alike strings (similar to Innovation Silver Slaps) which I bought as the lighter-gauge Ultralight set suit my Ampeg Baby Bass very well indeed. Unfortunately they don't suit my 3/4 1880s bass as well (its a bit too dark sounding), so I am sticking with brighter sounding Velvet Blues and Spiros as my two sets of strings for that particular bass (the choice depending on whether I am in an old school or growly mood). They have been on my bass for three days and are in essentially mint condition. I'll knock £30 off new price, so thats £75 posted in UK. I would stick with the lower tension if I were you as the Ultralights really work on the Baby Bass (and I think Innovation Silver Slaps would too). In short, no! Clarky Posted October 23, 2013 Author Share Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Hi there, string tension is 47-62 pounds (G-to-E), whereas Spiro Weichs are 62-67 pounds, so they are even lower tension - link here [url="http://baen.tamu.edu/users/rel/personal/BassStrings.html"]http://baen.tamu.edu...assStrings.html[/url] Feel wise they are chalk and cheese as Spiro Weichs are relatively slim steels, whereas these are fat chunky gut-alikes. Bottom line: If you want to emulate an old school gut sound these are a stress-free (stable tuning) and maintenance-free (no clipping hairs or oiling)alternative.
