1.
I'm definitely more of a J man than a P man, currently have 5 J's compared to the 2 P's and my go to bass is my '69 Oly White:
That thing is stunning
 2.
I am quite a prolific gig goer and like to think I have a fairly eclectic taste. I was wondering who you all have seen lately and what they were like. I only ask because last night we went to see the excellent Death Cab For Cutie in Glasgows 02. They were superb as expected. The support however, were, at least to us, rank rotten. They are called Chastity Belt and if you look them up on YouTube, they are passable, though not particularly my taste. Live however, they are dire. No stage craft, out of tune playing and singing, bum notes etc. You name it, they were afflicted by it. I would even go as far as saying, they are the worst band I've ever seen live on a big stage. Maybe they had a bad night, but somehow I don't think so. Let us know your experiences good or bad of others, as a warning/ tip so that we might go fore armed to future gigs.
Im going to see death cab in Birmingham tomorrow night, chastity belt are also supporting, hopefully they were just having a bad night then 😂
 3. Thanks all, went for Ed friedlands book and started it this evening, good stuff so far, im pretty much self taught and its really nice going back to the beginning with everything and going over technique aswell as starting to learn to read. Thanks for everyones help 😁

 5. Ive always used Ashdown stuff and never had any problems so a +1 from me on them. Just to throw another one in the mix, ive got a friend who switched from A Trace rig to a TC electronic rig, seems to love it, Ive no experience with them personally but i do really like the look, something to consider?
 6. I saw a friends covers band the other night, not really a big classic rock fan but as id had a skin full i was pleased when they played this one purely because i knew the words 😂 The did a good job but unfortunately the bass player didnt learn/couldnt play the intro (the only half decent bass part of the song) Id have a listen and learn the intro if they insist on playing it
 7. When i first started playing i was loaned an Axe for about 12 months by a friend of my dads, it belonged to who his brother who had moved away so he had no idea where hed got it from It looked exactly like the red one above and weighed a ton (not literally) Be interesting to see if anyone has any info as ive never been able to find out anything and it was 10 years ago! 😂
 8.
I'm liking that Fernandes and that's coming from someone who's not much of a fan of sunburst basses.
+1 both gorgeous especially the Fernandes

 12. Hi All, The time has come, after ignoring the fact i cant read music for years I've finally decided i want to learn. Can anyone recommend a book or site i can look for to get me started. I've seen a few people mention the Stuart Clayton books for beginners but i cant seem to find anywhere that stocks them other than for a Kindle (which i don't own) Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks Alex
 13. Wow, this looks great, looking forward to seeing how progress
 14.
So, new valve was waiting for me when I got home from work. Just fitted it and all good! Working like a dream! Thanks to all for your help and advice.
great news, glad you got it sorted, out of interest did you buy the valve through Ashdown or from somewhere else? just incase i have any future issues etc with mine?
 15. Not sure if youve seen this... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/270173-buy-an-amp-get-bass-guitar-free/page__pid__2884456#entry2884456

 18.
Give Ashdown a shout, their customer service is amazing!

Can vouch for that - always had good, timely replies from them just by using their website 'contact us' form...
And another thumbs up from me, been fantastic help the few times ive needed them
 19. I have a the james lemenzo hyperdrive ashdown pedal and i really like that, you have a real variation from low end fuzz to a really high end valve growl. Not had much experience with the nate mendal but i can reccomend the Ashdown pedal range.
 20. Thanks all, ill have a look at the different suggestions. .
im a great lover of multi effects i have a zoom b3 which great all round but i also have a line6 m5 and m13 and they are amazing, the distortions are aimed more towards guitar so not great but everything else is great. matched with a nice distortion or overdrive you could do everything with the m13.
The zoom seems to get a lot of support on here and tbf it does look like a great pedal for the money. im toying with the idea of getting this with the expression pedal as stated above and buying a decent loop station at a later date. However, The m13 also looks a really impressive pedal... Am I right in thinking that the different switches get assigned individual effects so acts as a pedalboard type setup rather than switching up and down through effects? Also with its loop settings, are you able to save loops and recall back on them from memory like a loop station or is it just for jamming and they get lost when you switch off? Seen a lot of good demos whilst browsing on youtube of the loop setting but cant seem to work this out? Thanks again for everyones help, im hoping to get down to PMT in the next few weeks and have a play on a few.
 21. Budget wise, im not sure how much the gt10b or line 6 sold for when new so im sort of going off spec rather than price, the M13 seems quite similar spec but ill have a good look later, i quite like the loop feature which i dont think is on the xt live but is on the gt10b. thanks for the suggestions so far ill check them all out
 22. Evening all, I'm looking for some Good recommendations for a decent multi effects unit similar to the Line 6 Bass pod Xt live or the Boss GT10B? These are two i quite like the spec on but they don't seem to be very easy to come by? I've seen the Rocktron B300 Utopia on Thomann that after a brief look seems fairly close spec to the line 6 but i've never heard of them and wondered if anybody have any experience with them? A new project is going to require some quite heavy effects and I want a decent effects unit i can use whilst writing and doing some live stuff as well as having the USB interface for home recording. I also know a lot of people will say to steer clear and stick to individual stompboxes but for what i'm after a multi effects will be better due to the variety its going to give me whilst experimenting, Just need some advice on a decent unit to look at. Thanks Alex
