1. I did one just like that earlier. The Mrs still won't go in the bathroom
2. I think some people set the price based on how much cash they need to raise rather than the value of the item.
3. I reckon it was a perfectly good bass before his girlfriend made a physical statement about either his playing or his playing around. Look at his other items for sale.
4. I can see it ok on the second link. The only thing is, I know nothing about old basses.
5.
Yes.
I agree
6. You could open a really big bottle with that
7. Welcome. I had exactly the same experience last year, except for me it was a 37 year break. I haven't looked back since.
8. Great song and video. I wish I could play like that. I don't think my fingers could keep up with the pace.
9.
It could be right after all! http://start.cortera.com/company/research/k7l4ssj9j/eric-hadley-body--fender-repairs/
Lol
10. Great diary and photos. I never really liked the Hofner violin basses. I had a Welson 40 years ago, which I did quite like playing, but this is such a great looking bass it blows that one out of the water. It must be a great feeling to have created something like that.
11. I hate it when the photos don't back up the description. No sign of breadcrumbs or broken teeth. Disappointed. I will not be bidding after all.
12. Who could resist with a description like that. I have always wanted an unreliable guitar subject to frequent breakdowns which will account for broken teeth. How do I pay?
13.
Wow, thanks for the info everyone, some nice medium scalers here I can see! Very nice. I love my Roscoes. Mine are sans mags with Richard McLish RMC Midi systems. Wondering when Keith made yours? As far as I know, I was the first medium scaler in 1999, with my second one a year or two later. The first one he made me was Birdseye Maple: And the other one is Buckey Burl: Yeah, the Roscoe's are more than amazing. Keith is certainly one of my heros in the bass world. He also finished my Viola bass for me - which I designed and had built: Note: i edited the photos as the bigger ones were quite small. Cheers, BassHappy
I love that viola bass. I'm not a great fan of violin basses, but this really looks great.
14. How did he cultivate the mildew on the scratch plate?
15. Looks like it entered the Earth's atmosphere at near escape velocity.
16. I've just seen one on an American website for $699.99. It's quite a nice looking bass to my eyes. If I had some spare cash knocking around I would take a punt. Edit 1 just seen your edit 2 I will take back my desire to own it. Still nice looking though.
17. It has been written phonetically. It is in Norn Iron after all.
18. Welcome! I love the colour of your bass. It doesn't sound great in the description, but it works.
19. Welcome Loula. When I saw this thread I thought it was my daughter, also Loula who has just taken up bass, until i opened it if course. Coincidentally she is also in the Southwest, in Bristol. I think she will be signing up shortly. I love it on here. If I need to know anything I just search for a thread on it and there's the answer. Anyway, enjoy. Cheers Damon
20. Hi Andy and welcome. I picked the bass up again after a 40 year break last year. My technique had rusted completely away, so I took a whole load of lessons. I have recently started playing with a couple of guitarists. It has improved my technique tremendously. After two sessions we have tightened up 4 or 5 songs to a gigable standard. If only we had a drummer ( sigh).
21. I think they went up in price when they changed the name to Snickers
22.
???
I always wondered what that thing on the pick guard was supposed to represent. Thank you for enlightening me
