  1. An even longer list here: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/Revolution666/bands_who_lost_all_their_original_members/

  3. All this about trading with the rest of the world, has anybody mentioned the environmental cost of this yet? Surely we need to be reducing our carbon footprint, not increasing it by buying or selling stuff to a country that’s about as far away from us as it’s possible to get? Especially if that’s just down to ideology, and nostalgia for a time when we roamed the world trading and pillaging.
  4. It’s like where I live, people there would vote for a donkey as long as it was wearing a blue rosette - come to think of it, they did 😆.
  5. Austalia does, that’s why the ‘Australia type deal’ that they kept talking about was disingenuous to say the least. Their trade with the EU is a tiny fraction of ours though, and doesn’t include finance or services - for the obvious reason of location. They are in the process of negotiating a trade deal with the EU though.
  6. It’s apparently a more eco-friendly, and denser version of wenge, not sure if that helps at all.
  7. Will they get sorted out? I guess these companies have looked at how much the UK market is worth to them, and decided it’s just not worth the hassle. They wouldn’t have decided not to sell to the UK if they were making a lot of money from us. The country is losing billions of pounds from the financial markets too. https://www.ft.com/content/a434b756-afe0-454d-9d70-ef2d42ea8d55
  8. Have you looked on their website to see if they tell you how to clean and maintain it? They sometimes have a ‘frequently asked questions’ section or even a downloadable manual.
  9. Just a few months old. Unused and in perfect condition.
  10. That’s how I read what I posted from the Gov website. You’ll obviously pay VAT - which you didn’t before on used goods - plus a handling charge. I’m pretty certain there’s no additional duty.
  11. Is that the new crossing I read about the other week?
  12. Northern Ireland is still part of the customs Union, and the single market. That’s why many businesses are annoyed, especially those based in NI that have branches in mainland UK, and obviously vice versa. They now - despite BJ’s previous lies and obfuscation - have to complete declarations.
  13. The same rules apply from the north as they do in the south.
  14. No, the courier will pay the VAT for you, then claim it back from you along with a handling charge. They’ll then release your item and deliver it to you.
  15. I’m wrong, I apologise. There’s 2% duty on them too. I’ll amend my post.
  16. Buying or selling a used item of gear is pretty much unchanged for the seller - though there will be paperwork including a customs declaration. If you compete it wrong then the item might get held up. Don’t allow yourself to be talked into under-declaring the value, you’ll run into problems with the insurance should anything get lost or damaged. It’s also against the law. If you’re a buyer then there’s a big change. You or they will be liable for VAT. This is dealt with by the courier who will charge you for doing it. The charges vary, so it’s best to shop around. I checked on the government website last week and duty wasn’t payable on instruments - that’s not to say it isn’t on other items. You obtain a code from the government website, that has to be printed on the customs declaration, that’s used to decide whether a duty charge is applicable.
  17. Thanks. It’s adjustable, but set at 18mm. I’m really happy with it, it’s a beautiful instrument.
  18. Have you a link? If enough people report it they might do something.
  19. Bought new a few months ago, and used only once. It’s one of the best bags I’ve tried. It’s extremely well padded, with lots of pocket space for books and cables etc. A friend recently stopped playing and very kindly gave me a bass complete with a Mono gig bag. SOLD Price includes postage.
  20. I’m reading on Facebook that people are having problems buying items from EU countries through eBay too. They’re able to click ‘buy now’, but then unable to complete the transaction and pay for it.
  21. Why Fender?
  22. Apologies, I was already typing my response before I read your reply.
  23. There’s a lot of spin going on about just what we can do now we’ve completely left. On the Marr show this morning BJ was asked to give some tangible benefits of Brexit, his reply was that the UK can now have freeports and we’ve banned pulse fishing. We had freeports when we were in the EU, and France banned pulse fishing in 2019. There’s a big deal about ending the ‘Tampon tax’, yet just a few years ago his party - and him - voted against such a measure. It’s politics for people who don’t bother to look deeper into what’s being said, just blithely believe it. The EU wasn’t perfect, nobody said it was. The leave process has so far cost £200 billion, which I’m told is more than we’ve paid in over the forty or so years we were members, and for what? Things we could already have, including blue passports.
  24. I had a set of the LaBella black nylons, they were lovely. I can’t remember what gauge they were though. Bass Direct sell them.
