    Having bought a new MacBook at Christmas, I wanted something reliable to transport it to and from uni. I auditioned 5 or 6 backpacks including several from Northface and various other manufacturers. This was far, far better than anything else. Luckily Amazon operate a simple return policy, so it's easy to send something back if you don't like it. Problem is I'm not really a backpack person. I'm used to messenger type bags, and this simply isn't working. It's a month old, and has only been used 3 times only, so it really is like new. They're over £100 in the UK, this one came from Thomman. I'd like £50 for it, which will include postage, or I can meet somewhere in London, or Birmingham. It's like the one below.     These are about 4 months old. i bought them new from Thomman, but I just got a pair of NS-10's for a good price, so these need a new home. They are in 'like new' condition, complete with all the original packaging. I don't really fancy posting them, but I can do if necessary. They really are great sounding monitors, and look very cool too, if you've got a MarkBass rig then these'll match ! I'd like £175 plus shipping if necessary.

Garageband or Logic is good for this sort of thing, use a keyboard to work the line out, when you've got it done you can print out the score.

    I bought these last year to help with my sight reading and slap stuff while preparing for my music college audition. They're in brilliant condition, complete with CD's where appropriate. The slap bass bible - £12.50 The finger funk work book volume 2 - £12.50 Sight reading funk rhythms - £12.50 The Berklee bass department reading book - £12.50 The finger funk book is particularly good, with some very complex rhythm reading. The examples are written like real charts, rather than exercises. It's a technique thing, I know people at college who slap P basses strung with flats, and they still sound fine.

I did the ICMP Higher diploma course last year and covered most of that, but that was in a year and with a tutor so we could ask questions and get them to explain bits we didn't understand.

    He's given his phone number, so anyone interested could phone him. Would anyone actually buy something this expensive without trying it anyway ? You can't upload photos onto here, and maybe he doesn't like the way people have been a bit less than friendly. It's not like he's saying he's in the Orkney's and it's postage only .

    Books are ok as long as you understand what's being said in them, and like you say some can be a bit on the tedious side. Best is to find someone and have private lessons, as and when you can, and when you can afford them. Just my opinion, no doubt many will disagree,

I did a course a few years ago to get to understand Cubase, and still couldn't after 3 months. Logic and Garageband I picked up with no tuition, though I do use at Logic Pro at music college now. Garagband is basically a much stripped down version of Logic, but it does share some of the same instruments and plugins. Also if you decided that you wanted to get into recording and production more, then you're able to easily transfer ideas from Garageband on your Ipad into Logic on a laptop or iMac. Just me I guess, but it just makes more sense.

    Garageband is waaaaaay better than Cubase and I think you get that on an iPad anyway, and get an Apogee Jam, they're 50 quid or something and are designed to work with Macs.

I've got Schallers fitted to my basses at the moment, would these work with the Schaller strap pin ?

    I ordered this from Thomann, and got a long one instead of a short one. It's a grey coloured Betty, in long size which measures 47 inches to 59 inches in length, at least according to the website (don't actually do inches myself ) I just bought a rather nice leather Richter strap from Gareth on here as a replacement.     There's no gap on the pockets of either of my Fenders. Both necks are perfect and don't move, I believe they have graphite rods in them for stability. The Marcus Miller bass is a dream to play, and has 6 bolts attaching it to the body via a plate making for a really sturdy fit. The frets are all perfectly seated, and the bridge is perfectly positioned, and allows for either through the body stringing or through the bridge on both basses. I like the hipshot machines on the Marcus Miller bass too. You can't actually see the neck pocket on the bass in the photo, it's not that close so making comments on it seem a bit odd.

    I own two USA Fender's, a Marcus Miller and a USA jazz bass. Both are great basses, and like I've said before, people know (MD's, producers, artists etc) what they're getting. They've both been set up to play how I want them to, and they respond and sound how I want them to. There's also the fact that you drop some cash on a used USA Fender bass, you'll almost certainly get it back should you sell it, you can't say the same with a custom bass by someone no one's ever heard of.
