It's as long from the black ring to the tip as the other lead, but the waist bit (don't know what to call it ), is longer and narrower, so the spring bit inside the jack socket isn't making contact properly.

I've got 7 basses and I'm planning on buying 2 more this summer, so I vote keep them all . I have fond memories of basses that I've sold and wish that I hadn't. A pre EB Stingray is close to top of my list of 'some day I will own' basses, together with a '77 Jazz and a '60's Precision.

Well what a load of rubbish ! I've noticed on some of my other basses that a slight movement of the jack plug causes the signal to drop out. Tonight out of desperation I thought, well I'll try a different cable and it was fine, only problem is that cable is only 1.5 metres long. Sorry about the poor photos, but you can maybe make out the different shapes of the tips of the two cables ? The guitar cable is the one on the right hand side. [attachment=137434:Photo on 22-06-2013 at 00.41.jpg] The guitar cable's tip is narrower and shorter at the end, probably explaining the poor contact with the inside of the jack socket.

Thanks , it's definitely just the input jack though. I've read that it's a common problem with this type of socket. The jack socket is attached to the preamp by wires, so I don't think moving the jack plug from side to side would have any effect on the preamp.

My 22 year old much loved TRB6-P bass developed a problem with the input jack. I bought a new Neutrik one and my brother who's a whiz with a soldering iron fitted it for me. I've got the same problem though, it cuts out when you wiggle the jack plug about. If you hold it in one place it's fine, but the weight of the lead causes it to move, and cut out. They have a long barrel type socket. How easy is it to fit a regular jack socket ? Is it really a job for a luthier to do ?

I remember going to Winchester a few years ago. The cathedral wanted some ridiculous amount of money to go in, £15 or something each. Consequently people were stood in the doorway taking photos looking down the aisle, an empty cathedral. Last time I went it was free, and the place was packed. Charge £7 per advert and you may get 100 adverts over the course of a month. Charge £2 and you may get 500 adverts over the same period,

I use an advert blocker on my Mac, and sell on Gumtree. In my opinion the fees to advertise on here are too much, it's just an advert, you don't get any sort of promotion with it.

Everyone has them. A lot of times it's actually psychological, you try and do something and get a kind of mental block over it. Usually just best to stop what you're trying to do and do something else instead, musical of course !

I had a similar problem with my old macbook, it was one of the white plastic bodied ones, maybe about 5 years old. My tracks are quite dense with lots of layers of synths, and it used to stick when I was playing tracks back. That was a RAM problem, I think it only had maybe 500 MB available. I use it a lot for uni, so I blew a big portion of January's student loan and bought a new one, the problem's stopped now. Hopefully what I've posted above will work for you.

I've just checked in garageband on my laptop, which may be a later version than you're running, and you can lock a track. In Logic it's called freezing it, which converts the midi to audio, freeing up RAM. There's an article here. You can un-freeze them at a later date.

Try freezing tracks that you've already recorded. Freezing them turns them to audio (asuming you're recording MIDI tracks too) and stores them on the HD, so it'll free up RAM.

Am I imagining things, or had they used to do the cheaper (GWB35) model in a natural finish like this ?

Google it, there are a few really great sites specifically doing Mac recording stuff. What Mac are you using, it could be a memory issue.

I'm not at home at the moment, and haven't used Garageband for some time. I use Logic which is much the same thing, but I'm sure you should be [i]seeing[/i] your zoom as the input.
