1. This is off a Mexican Fender P bass that I bought about a year ago with the intention of building a Pino bass. That's not gonna happen though. I don't have any other bits for it, so I'd have to source them from somewhere too, and put it all together. I just don't have the time or the technical mind to put something together like that , it's been sat wrapped in a towel in a drawer for the last 9 months or so. It was originally white, but I had a friend of my Dad's refinish it for me. He's a professional car body sprayer, and did a good job, though it does need polishing, he just stripped and resprayed it for me. I'm gonna buy a complete US built P bass when I get my next student loan money through anyway. This is therefore for sale to someone who would also like to build themselves a Pino lookalike bass. I'd prefer collection from Birmingham, or I can meet in London. If it needs posting then it'd be very well wrapped and parcelled. I'd like £70 for it please. Photos tomorrow, I'll take some in the daylight.
2. College days little, except Tuesday when I get home early, then I'll try and do 2 or 3 hours, though I play at college anyway. I read theory books on my commute, and do production/arranging stuff on my laptop. None college days I'll do between 6 and 10 hours a day, depending on what else I've got on.
3. These are fantastic stands, and this is a little over a month old, so it's like new. It's just a little too big for my limited studio space, I'm a getting another bass soon too, so I'm having my brother put some hangers on the wall for me. I'd like £35 for it, either collected from Birmingham or I can meet in London somewhere near to Kilburn.
4. Brilliant idea, I know a few people that I play with who do this. An Ipad is on my shopping list for this very purpose when I get my next student loan money through.
5.
Colour?
Black, and I'm in Birmingham at weekends too !
6. Having bought a new MacBook at Christmas, I wanted something reliable to transport it to and from uni. I auditioned 5 or 6 backpacks including several from Northface and various other manufacturers. This was far, far better than anything else. Luckily Amazon operate a simple return policy, so it's easy to send something back if you don't like it. Problem is I'm not really a backpack person. I'm used to messenger type bags, and this simply isn't working. It's a month old, and has only been used 3 times only, so it really is like new. They're over £100 in the UK, this one came from Thomman. I'd like £50 for it, which will include postage, or I can meet somewhere in London, or Birmingham. It's like the one below. http://www.monocase.com/mono-efx-kondensor.asp The design is amazing, it really has been designed with a musician/producer in mind.
7.
Would need to get a keyboard, but that sounds worth trying, thanks
You only need a cheap midi keyboard, I've got an M-audio Keystation 88ES which is brilliant and only cost about £60 off Ebay.
8. These are about 4 months old. i bought them new from Thomman, but I just got a pair of NS-10's for a good price, so these need a new home. They are in 'like new' condition, complete with all the original packaging. I don't really fancy posting them, but I can do if necessary. They really are great sounding monitors, and look very cool too, if you've got a MarkBass rig then these'll match ! I'd like £175 plus shipping if necessary.
9.
Task for 2013, get to grips with some notation software rather than pencil and manuscript
Have you got a Mac ? Garageband or Logic is good for this sort of thing, use a keyboard to work the line out, when you've got it done you can print out the score.
10. I think they're in Greece, so it'll probably take a while to arrive.
11. I bought these last year to help with my sight reading and slap stuff while preparing for my music college audition. They're in brilliant condition, complete with CD's where appropriate. The slap bass bible - £12.50 The finger funk work book volume 2 - £12.50 Sight reading funk rhythms - £12.50 The Berklee bass department reading book - £12.50 The finger funk book is particularly good, with some very complex rhythm reading. The examples are written like real charts, rather than exercises. All details here - http://www.anthonyvitti.com/home.html These aren't available (I don't think) in the UK, I ordered them direct from Anthony Vitti's website. Discount available for multiple orders. Prices include UK 2nd class postage.
12. I don't c
Your slap sound must be really naff then.

Not at all. Why must it be 'really naff' just because I don't change anything?
I don't change anything either, in fact my amp (Markbass LM2) is usually set flat. It's a technique thing, I know people at college who slap P basses strung with flats, and they still sound fine.
13. My birth year bass. I will one day won one of these .
14.
I've just started on the Bass guitar theory course http://www.institute...heory_for_bass/ 12 week course for £16. I have been doing it for 2 weeks, a lot of work but interesting a chunk has gone over my head a bit but I think/hope I get it in the end. The guy running it says give it 30 mins to 1 hour a day if you want to succeed at it and stick at it, like everything else it's practice, practice.... I'm the worlds worse learner but I WILL do it!
That's a lot to do in just 12 weeks ! I did the ICMP Higher diploma course last year and covered most of that, but that was in a year and with a tutor so we could ask questions and get them to explain bits we didn't understand.
15. He's given his phone number, so anyone interested could phone him. Would anyone actually buy something this expensive without trying it anyway ? You can't upload photos onto here, and maybe he doesn't like the way people have been a bit less than friendly. It's not like he's saying he's in the Orkney's and it's postage only .
16. Books are ok as long as you understand what's being said in them, and like you say some can be a bit on the tedious side. Best is to find someone and have private lessons, as and when you can, and when you can afford them. Just my opinion, no doubt many will disagree,
17.
Now's your chance!!
I'd have to sell a bass (I'm a music student), and I don't want to do that. I love the ones I've got and have uses for each of them. A 5 string P bass makes so much sense though, and this is a great price.
18.
In what way ? Just curious..... Garry
Probably just me, but it's more logical and user friendly. I did a course a few years ago to get to understand Cubase, and still couldn't after 3 months. Logic and Garageband I picked up with no tuition, though I do use at Logic Pro at music college now. Garagband is basically a much stripped down version of Logic, but it does share some of the same instruments and plugins. Also if you decided that you wanted to get into recording and production more, then you're able to easily transfer ideas from Garageband on your Ipad into Logic on a laptop or iMac. Just me I guess, but it just makes more sense.
19. Garageband is waaaaaay better than Cubase and I think you get that on an iPad anyway, and get an Apogee Jam, they're 50 quid or something and are designed to work with Macs.
20. Anyone tried these ? http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/p/916931/jim-dunlop-lok-straplok-ergo-lok-strap-pair/ I don't personally like either the Schaller or normal Dunlop strap locks, so these look like a good alternative. I've got Schallers fitted to my basses at the moment, would these work with the Schaller strap pin ?
