1. For me at least, music is a language. You wouldn't just learn a few French or Italian phrases parrot fashion, without knowing how and where to use them, may be a bit embarrassing asking a priest for directions, and actually telling him you fancy his sister Music is the same, if you take a bit of time to learn a few simple things, it'll pay you back a hundred fold. Just my opinion.
2. For sale, mainly because I want something smaller and lighter for train/tube use, is my beautiful Yamaha SLB100 Silent bass. This is a really beautiful instrument, it plays and sounds pretty much like a 'real' DB. It has the detachable side pieces and the knee rest. Currently fitted with a Fishman Full circle pickup, as well as the Yamaha Piezo. It does have a few very small bumps, but absolutely nothing that affects playability in any way. It's a big bass, so these are to be expected, and are mainly on the back and sides of the instrument. It comes complete with the original gig bag. Collection only, I wouldn't even consider shipping it, although delivery is an option, for train fare
3. A couple of the guys I'm teaching at the moment are total, or were total novices. They just accept that I'm teaching them scales, how scales are constructed, how chords are derived from scales, and dare I say........sight reading
4. It's kind of like buying a really great book, and just reading the last chapter.
5.
It's awesome that you did it with bass only... Great ambience. I really like it.
Thanks ! Seriously pleased that you like it !
6. I can't say that I blame him. My sister-in-law sold stuff on eBay for years. Then she sold an unwanted wedding present, the buyer said it was faulty (which it wasn't, it was brand new and in full working order). She said return it then, thinking she'd just get the receipt from whoever gave it her, and take it back to the shop. She got back an empty box ! And the buyer gave her negative feedback !
7. Some nice, soothing and reflective music. Quite a bit shorter than a lot of my recent tracks. https://ambient-bassist.bandcamp.com/track/on-waking Comments are welcomed

On hold for a few days
9. I think you need to bear in mind there's sounding like a DB, and sounding like an amplified DB, not always the same thing.
10. It's a Fender I'm not being disrespectful to your bass, but Fender aren't exactly renowned for their attention to detail. I had 2 US Fender's last year, one was a Marcus Miller 5 string, the other just a US standard 5 string. The US standard had a gap along the neck pocket because it had been cut too big. Both had string through the body option. They came with little brass cup things that went into the holes at the back of the body. These weren't attached to the basses at all, if you didn't string through the body, then they fell out.
11.
Thank F*** I've just moved to a Nexus 5 in that case. The horror, the horror... Don't get the huge fuss over this though, just delete it.. or is that somehow 'difficult' on crapple products?
Crapple - love it I find Apple stuff intuitive, you want to do something and the way you do it is logical, to me. Windows stuff on the other hand totally baffles me

13. I didn't realise kids had stopped playing instruments. Doesn't bode well for my future, I was planning on being a music teacher after I graduate . I have a kid across the road who plays guitar, there's another lad 3 doors along who plays drums. Walking to the train station yesterday morning, I know that I saw kids carrying violins, guitars and wind instruments going to the various schools by me.
14. What adverse publicity ? http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/celebrities_gossip/20140914_WENN_U2_s_back_catalog_gets_sales_bump_after_surprise_album_release.html If doing something like this means that a large part of your back catalog starts reselling, then it can't be bad publicity.
15. I had an NS EUB last year. It didn't feel at all like a 'real' DB, and didn't sound like one, it was very much like a large fretless bass. I've now got a Yamaha SLB100, whack I like a lot. It's got a Fishman FC pickup fitted, and does to me at least, sound quite like an amplified DB.
16.
How would you feel if you awoke one morning to find that a video of a party political broadcast by someone you detested (BNP for example, other parties are available) had been added to your iTunes/iPod without your knowledge or consent?
You really compare a new U2 album with a party political broadcast, that's kind of a strange analogy 😊 If you don't like it just delete it. It's marketing, U2s back catalog sales have leapt, partly I'm guessing because some people have listened to the album, who otherwise wouldn't have, and have liked it and bought it. Personally I don't like U2, I don't really like anything mainstream. I would however listen to it, I was given it. I have my iTunes preference set so I wasn't given it, and can't be bothered changing them so I get it. It's music, you got it free, if you don't want it, then delete it.
17. I truly don't see what all of the fuss is about. Their last album sold about 5 million copies, how many of the people who are complaining would have bought it anyway, and are just moaning because it seems 'cool' to ? You've been given free music, stop wingeing 😊

19. You can delete it here - http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/sep/15/apple-u2-album-itunes-delete
20. I had to play it on my HND course a few years ago. I hated it, but then again I hate Bob Jovi
21.
The girl in your local Post Office is wrong about that. Saturday Special Deliveries can have sticker placed on them, yellow with the letters SG (Saturday Guarantee) in black, to ensure they are delivered or at least delivery is attempted.
I think she maybe knows what she's talking about from experience ? Yellow sticker or not, would it actually be sorted and delivered ?
22. Yamaha HS80M. Look like the old NS10.
23. Sales under £50 are free, I think
