  1. It’s sad that people are making fun of the post. Yep, gone are the days of easy trade from the UK to the EU, and vice versa.
  2. Brilliant. I’ve released a few things on vinyl. It’s been increasing in popularity for a few years now. Cassettes are also incredibly popular. A solo album i released on cassette was one of the most successful things I’ve done.
  3. You’re braver than me. I have posted a bass abroad, but only to Europe, and that was before Brexit. I wouldn’t again - especially after reading your story. I’m glad it arrived safe and sound in the end.
  4. Sibelius is an absolute pain in the proverbial to use. We had to use it at uni, they wouldn’t allow us to use anything else. I’ve started using MuseScore, which offers the functionality of Sibelius without the shouting and screaming.
  5. ForScore?
  6. In excellent condition. There are two @ 22cm. There are four @ 15cm. Two stereo TRS to mono. Would prefer to sell as a job lot. Price includes postage.
  7. Is this related to imposter syndrome, where we don’t believe we’re good enough for whatever it is we’re doing?
  8. Are you a good enough driver for the £10,000 car, or should you buy a £200 banger - like mine?
  9. Swap it for something else? 😁
  10. I’m not a huge fan of the band, I like certain of their songs. I do like Flea though. This sounds a typical RFCP song.
  11. Tony Levin was talking about this on Instagram the other day.
  12. I came across this cooperative style streaming service last week. They’re recommended by a couple of people that I know. https://linktr.ee/resonatecoop
  13. I’m not sure it really matters. As others have said, many times a live performance by the band that recorded the song will be quite different to the recorded version. Often it’s just not possible to recreate the original recording. A lot of the older artists aren’t able to sing in the original keys anymore. I think you need to capture the essence of the song, that’s more important.
  14. I didn’t realise places still had these. I remember as a kid going with my parents most Saturday evenings to a social club, they always had bands on. I loved it, many of them would trip the sound level meter and go silent for a few seconds.
  15. You’ve probably put it in the wrong section. There is a dedicated wanted section for double basses.
  16. I’m guessing DPD. Most music shops seem to use them.
  17. DPD? Don't use Parcelforce, they don’t insure musical instruments.
  18. I’ll make truss rod and bridge adjustments on my electric basses yes. I wouldn’t touch the frets though, I don’t have the necessary skills.
  19. Me neither, at least not for something sold on Facebook or Gumtree. It’s cash or bank transfer on collection only with them.
  20. Brussels is a beautiful city, it’s usually pretty cheap to get there too on Eurostar.
  21. It’s quite a well known scam. After agreeing you’ll get a message from the buyer to say he can’t pay cash, but will you take PayPal. They’ll then say they haven’t received the item. Obviously with no trackable shipping PayPal will just refund him.
  22. I’ve never bought from his shop, I briefly studied music with Pierre at ICMP and bought two instruments from him privately. He’s got some great instruments in stock.
  23. I tend to sit down for jazz gigs. I believe Dave Swift was seated for the recent Jools Holland NYE gig. Anthony Jackson has gigged seated for decades. I read somewhere that he was sacked by Al Jarreau for not standing and dancing.
  24. Bought new just after Christmas. University work/Covid meant it’s sat unopened. I’ve bought something else now. These are great, feature packed delay pedals. Price includes postage.
