  1. You could always send him ghost note.
  2. I'm in. Band jam on Wednesday & decided to try something to fit the pic. Drummer on drums, Guitarist on guitar, Pianist on clarinet & me on the Roli (intro sound) & bass. It was fun. I give you Hippo toe to toe at the hippodrome - Toe Toe Just updated, so it may not show until later. In the meantime, here's the link... https://soundcloud.com/feintmotions/hippo-toe-to-toe-at-the-hippodrome-toe-toe
  3. Hillsong & Bethel played a big part in me leaving. The songs are dire & after seeing many of their shenanigans, I don’t want to associate myself with them.
  4. & next month you can play some Led Zep to the congregation? 😂
  5. I got V Station installed & working without issue, but B Station & their FX suite just disappear when I install them.
  6. I never knew A$$ was a swear word. Ar$e is though.
  7. I really don’t understand people who are anti 5 string. Yes, some people either don’t get on with the wider neck or just don’t need the low B, but what’s the point of being Anti 5. 😂
  8. From a previous thread, taking the player out of the equation, the majority of tone comes from the pickups, then your electrics, then strings. They can all make a huge difference.
  9. A couple of years ago, I had a similar issue. Had an issue where my Roli wasn’t connecting. Realised I was using a skinny cable that came free with something, so swapped it for the cable that came with the Roli & the issue was gone. I recently bought a 10ft cable off the Amazon & it works without issue, as does any decent thick USB cable.
  10. That’s what I use. For church, it was Korg Tuner, PSK Distortion, Boss Chorus & Behringer BDi21. There was a point where I had a Soundblox SA143 filter, which ended up being used more as an EQ, but I sold that.
  11. That’s what most churches need. Someone to put the band, singers & musicians in check. Our church doesn’t have anyone like that & it’s not my place to do it.
  12. My church must have the same list. Roll call is for 8:45 on a Sunday, most would turn up the back of 9, some after 9:30. considering you’ve to clear the stage for 9:45, that leaves little time to soundcheck & rehearse. One of the many reasons that finally made me leave.
  13. One of the (many) problems with church bands. Singists are not usually open to advice unless they’ve already had lessons & are a decent singer.
  14. My practice process when I was playing in church would be to find a version of the songs in the Singist’s chosen key, preferably a minimalist version & play along with it, have a quick listen to the original to check for any identifiable bass hooks & that was it. In the end, I was spending very little time on practicing the songs as they were getting sent out on the Thursday before worship & more & more songs are just sounding the same, but with different words. RHCPs new album has more variation than CCW does! 🤣
  15. Easy. I quit the worship band & joined a jazz band. 😎
  16. Yeah, there’s very few options when it comes to 37 key midi controllers. One other with full size keys is the Alesis Vortex. It’s a keytar, but you could still pop it on an X stand.
  17. I didn’t know that. I’ve got the S61 & it’s a great controller. Only downside is it would have benefitted from sliders & drumpads. But I’ve got a Korg Nanocontrol2 for my slider needs.
  18. Have a look at the NI S25 mk2, it might fit your bill. Roli are very much on the go. They’ve just launched the Rise mk2 a couple of weeks ago. It’s supposed to have a much easier to play surface & the keys are more defined (as opposed to just being a wavey surface like mine). Though at present, it’s only the 49 key that’s out. 25 is yet to be released. They also do Lumi, which is a 2 octave keyboard, which you can join more together to make 4 or 6 octaves (maybe more). I’ve not used mainstage myself, but the main keys player at church uses it & plays backing tracks from it. I’m sure you’ll be able to bounce the LPX tracks as wav & pop them into mainstage (though a direct dump like you say, would be the sensible thing for it to do). But, I’ve never used it. Might be worth doing a bit of research on it from Apple & YouTube.
  19. I’ve heard good things about the Novation gear (their synths are good value for money too). I use Logic in band situations too, but may get mainstage, as it’s more performance oriented. I’ve got a Native Instruments S61, which is a nice controller, but my choice for live playing is my Roli Rise25. Can get very expressive on it. 😎
  20. Most wanna be singers take offence when someone suggests singing lessons. We had a songwriting class a few months before covid hit. Most of the worship team was at it & the chap leading the course said "Look at this guitarist's kit, He's got a Les Paul guitar and a Kemper, he's probably spent about £3k of his own money on those 2 things. How many of you singers have your own mic? though you don't have to, the church supplies them. What you could do though, is spend some money on singing lessons. No matter how good a singer you are, singing lessons are always a good investment". It fell on deaf ears (& their singing abilities prove it). Anyhoo, I'm happily no longer playing in the worship team & last week joined a Funk/Jazz/Electronica infused band. Had one jam last week & had the most fun playing that I've had in years! 😎
  21. I've had my bolt on Ibby since 1990. It's a 24 fret bolt on neck & I'm regularly up the dusty end (a couple of songs even use that high G) & never had any access issues due to the neck being bolted on. But the fact that the bass has a bolt on neck played no part whatsoever in my choosing it over the other basses. It was the sound & playability that made it mine & it could have had a through neck for all I care. Other basses have came & went. This one remains (alongside a recent StingRay5 Sub, which weighs a ton). My advice is get the bass that feels best in your hands, not what the paper specs say. Then upgrade the pickups if you want.
  22. I've never fired anyone from a band, but I think you've went about it the best way. You've given them feedback on why & it's entirely up to them on how they want to take it.
  23. See, that's my thing... I love jazz. Recently discovered R+R=Now & Collagically Speaking is an amazing album (IMO of course).
