1. Would one of these sound plasticy?
2.
Not sure about that. I don't think the v bass does midi out. I think you need one of the roland guutar synths for that (vg20/vg33/vg55). Someone who knows more may be able to correct me though. Been sorely tempted by a v-bass myself recently. Was impressed by the one i played a few years ago.
I think you might be right there. Just read that the V Bass (not VB 99) doesn't transmit note data through midi. My guitarist/singer has a Roland GI-20 & has a GK3B on a cheap bass & a Godin guitar & uses it to play either a MicroKorg or a Yamaha Synth. Sounds pretty good too & the tracking is as good as an analogue octaver.
3. Sorry chrismuzz, you can't enter yourself unless you're famous (or I'd have my name here too ) & I hope you've got a beer mat under your pint! I should have called it "Your least fave bassist", but me being me...
4.
This discussion of one 1x12 not cutting it have thankfully put me off buying a pair. May as well always use a 2x12.
or a couple of them (or 2 2x10s).
5. Sorry I couldn't give a proper answer, I don't get audio at work.
6. No pics = no pedals!
7. Not sure. I've used teh Boss ME50B & it's a doddle to use (as easy as using pedals, but you can save settings). Sounds Live have the GT10b for £345, but I'd get to a shop & have a play about.
8. Depends how much you want to spend. How about the Boss GT-10B? It's £399 from DV24/7.
9. If I was needing something like that, then I'd look at a good quality multi fx unit so you can just save patches.
10. How could I have forgotten Ryan! That goes beyond what I was asking!
11.
Sure, I just like to know what goes on behind the scenes.
Something like this.....
12. http://www.music-man.com/faq/music-man-basses/how-do-i-set-up-my-music-man-bass.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIzV9462xeE&feature=channel&list=UL
13. If you haven't got a capo you can use your elbow. `I'll find you a guide.
14.
They are big and ugly just like the Markbass pedals - at least Markbass has seen the light and produced a smaller range!
Agreed. At least if you're gonna make a big pedal, make it look as cool as moog do.
15. Before twiddling the truss rod, how's your bridge for height? Now you need a capo & a credit card.
16. Ooh errm... Check your locals to see if there's anywhere does a Jam/open mic/folk night or try the local music shoppe.
17.
Or you may get a bassist as a groupie...
That's not becoming a musician, that being unfortunate!
18. You're a real musician when.... You get a groupie as a bassist.
19. I think this as a thread has been a success in being an interesting thread, although with the wrong title & a poor way of putting the thread forward. Like I've said already, the 10 bassists I put at the start is the same 10 bassists I put in the "10 best bassists" thread. Regardless of their playing ability, they are very inspirational & successful. Even Sid has been an inspiration for many of today's bassists, where Sex Pistols fans would see him having fun on bass & follow him (hopefully without the drugs). It was I thought some might have seen the humour in the list & then responded with a why's he there & who they think should be there (which some have done). I can understand some folk won't get my (crap) sense of humour, unless you've read some of my other posts. I think Luke got it, but I'm not 100% sure.
20. Also, if you did need clean blend, then your fx loop provides that.
21. Your amp's max wattage output is 500w, therefore 2 8 ohm cabs would still get a maximum draw of 500w (250w each regardless of their wattage). Does that help? Edit: If you're using 2 heads, each going into it's own cab then you'll be feeding each @ 350w. So a 700w rig.
22. I think if you're recording a cover then you need to get permission from the copyright owner & arrange to pay royalties. I don't believe it's a difficult thing to do.
23. I'd looked at the Ashdown pedals too, but the size is a factor here too (says the guy with moogerfoogers). They probably would sell more if they was in a smaller enclosure. Agree with you on the VU meter, but they could make one about the size of a penny to put on smaller pedals if they so insist.
