1. None! Both will blow the trip if there's a short. The fuse is there as an added safety feature to protect both you and your device.
2. Save money on fuses & just use a piece of 1/4" bolt. No fuses to blow! Maybe I should pop that in the top tips section?
3. Take the "line out" of the Marshall & plug it into the "aux return" on the Carlsberg. Job done, bish bash boom. I used to have a Carlsberg Cobra 90 Bass head & it had a DI in on the front of it. It said "Direct Inject", so if your's has something similar, it'll work fine.
4. Good question. I've no idea! Hopefully it'll be in the manual. Have you tried it since? Might just be the protection circuit.
5. Have you checked the internal fuses?
6. Have you tried any of the rigs that you're looking at? I thought I wanted a certain rig, tried it & didn't like it (just wasn't my sound). Ended up trying out tons of stuff & got a MarkBass combo in the end. Your next holiday should incorporate a city with good bass shops & dedicate a day (or two) to rigs.
7. After hearing about Hartke's customer service, I'd be more than happy to own one of their rigs.
8.
There's that 'growl' word again. What does it mean?
Spandau Ballet?
9. First question is: What's your budget? I spent a good bit of time looking for the best combo I could that was around £1k & ended up with the Markbass CMD102P. You can get them 2nd hand for @£600 (give or take £100). There's loads of good combos to suit just about every budget & going 2nd hand will get you more bang for buck.
10.
Cant be many of those old Russell Hobbs kettles still working.
That's mainly because they don't make kettle leads to fit em anymore!
11.
ignore me mate .. I'm turning into my Dad lol
No worries buddy
12.
Don't wanna spoil your fun mate .. but you really need to look at the ancient socket on the kettle you posted!!
I spied that. It was the only pic I could get quick access at my work that would post (tried a few others but most are blocked )
13.
Basicially if you turn both volumes down equally on a jazz it rolls the top end off giving a righteous fat Ashanti tone!!
Is this true? I'm gonna have to try it with my bass (though it's not a Jazz).
14. The 1x15 has slightly more surface area than the 2x10. For £750 I'd look for a good 2x10 or 2x12 & get a decent amp (Markbass would be my recommendation). If you're willing to go 2nd hand, then there's plenty of things to be had. I'd get rid of the 4x10 as it's got poor dispersion (compared to a 1x15 or vertical 2x10). Barefaced cabs are worth a look.
15.
Europe: UK: "European" plugs only have two pins, what could be called of a third pin (those side metal plates) are for earthing. Edit: both sockets going in to the amp are the same (like the ones used on PC's).
Fits one of these...
16. Setting the dials/sliders to "Flat" on an amp doesn't mean the sound is a flat response, you're getting how the manufacturers want the amp to sound. So Flat on an Ampeg is different to Flat on a Hartke & so on. But yes. I set my Markbass to "flat" & then fiddle the EQ to suit the venue if needed. My sound is already heavily messed up from the board before hand though!
17.
Lol, thank you
As much as I tried, I struggled to resist.
18. Good choice (I have the same combo). The best cab to add would be this... Stick them on their end (vertically) for a nice tall rig that everyone can hear.
19. You want a Kettle lead.
20. Just practice in the original key & then voala...
21. Soooooo tempting! I had a blast on one of these a couple of years ago & really wanted it then. I have a SoundGear (SR1000), but I've done quite a few alterations to it (stripped to the wood, made it passive & popped a control knob for the moogs on it). If it was a 5 string then you'd have a PM. Nice bass.
22. Nice job.
23.
no crossover to go wrong stops it overheating, I got the impression the the faulty crossover, or splitter?, was causing the amp to overload and therefore overheat, mine gets quiet warm but it's never cut out
Ah! I see. I didn't know what the cause of the fault was.
24.
I'ver got one of these, had trouble with the first one, Marshall replaced it, since then it's been fine, love the sound with a 1x15 extention cab, mind you my ext cab has no tweeter so no crossover to break down which seems to be the main problem here
I don't get what you mean. How would a crossover stop it overheating?
25. Picture for proof?
