hi guys after swapping out the pickups in my Squier i have a set of pickups spare, they are the i believe no longer used pickups that were designed by fender with seymour duncan, they are very nice punchy and have a good output for passive pickups. ive heard from alot of people ive spoken to that they are better than the current pickups, however not having played them i cant say if thats true. looking for 25 pounds posted for them wiring is all intacted and pickups in good condition. andy
So I bought a Behringer pitch shifter (not wanting to spend loads without having tried one out) so I can just use the one Bass instead of down tuning another for one song. In short, it's crap. I know, I know I didn't spend much so what can I expect! I've heard the Eventide works well, but at £400 it ain't cheap and is enough to buy a decent fiver (which is what I'm doing). Anyone got a view, do any of them actually work well? Cheers LC PS, Do any of the multi-effects do this - Boss GT10b for example?
i used to have one of these, as a pitch shift ie replacement for a whammy in a smaller footprint they work well, as do they for adding in a 5th above to make chords etc, sadly they are very digital sounding so its not just your sound an octave higher say. unfortunately apsrt from the more expensive pedals there isnt a cheap fix, i used to play in a band which needed to drop d stuff just tuned for that track then back up. andy andy

from playing amps with valve pre's for along time this little thing really does blow them away, sounds aleast to me very full and breaks up lovely, yes some noise comes when you crank the gain but this happens on alot of amps. played thru my full pedalboard today, which includes alot of fuzz, dirt and also a overdive/boost handles them all very well, yes ive had to change settings on a few but thats to be expected with a new amp. as you can see from my sig im selling a few bits to grab the 100w

well the ctm arrived about an hour ago! such a nice looking piece of kit! gonna give it a more in depth play thru tomoz but thru the 212 cl cab its got a bit of volume behind it! actually seriously looking at grabbing the 100w version for my big rig forgot how nice valves sound! and yes for joke reasons at next practice i will be running this into my 810! http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg72/0175westwood29/IMG_0231.jpg andy

This is an awesome overdrive pedal the eq is very effective no loss of bottom end and a really nice nice clear overdrive even with the gain maxed out!! there is velcro on the back of this pedal aswell but can be removed. So I've developed gas for an all valve amp and to cover it this awesome beast sadly needs to go. Comes with its gig bag, and is well looked after no dings or marks I think seeing as new these are ove 600 notes 450 is fair given its condition. Based in South brent in Devon, so only 30 mins from Exeter or Plymouth http://i245.photobuc...29/IMG_0232.jpg http://i245.photobuc...29/IMG_0234.jpg http://i245.photobuc...29/IMG_0233.jpg Andy

The Hartke 115 hydrive cabs are very nice, loud and a lot lighter than expected.

well ive sent an email now to a local shop asking them about prices, thie minimum ive had at a gig was a 410 so im thinking of maybe taking a gamble might even try my ctm 15 thro the 810 if that almost copes (i doubt it) then the 100w will be fine plus gives me the option of going for all valve dirt with out killing people. thanks for your help guys andy

Serious Question To Those Who Use A Full Stack
Not unless you have someone at the back of the room.
ive always had a sound guy go out front also the singer in my band likes to take a walk out front -
No problem gigging my CTM100 (with 2 x 210s) in a loud band. Admittedly there's not a huge amount of clean headroom over our usual backline vol, but I haven't needed it so far. Sounds ace.
not so worried about clean headroom as i never have a clean sound always heavy fuzz or dirt. and the 300w version does look like a monster but i want something thats just right as i very rarely use the terror past one! so thinking the 300w might be a bit much as i dnt need massive headroom andy

i just dnt get on with the shapes, but maybe i should tho as got told the other day that my bass wasnt very metal? andy -
With the right cab this is a very giggable amp, I absolutely love mine
well id be using it mostly with my 810, i like the sound of 100w i just cant help but think 300w would be overkill for my needs, i used to have an old orange 140w head but back then only had an 115 cab, and to be loud enough for my old three piece band it would be basically overdrive sound. its between the 100w and the ad200 but this one has a di which puts it ahead and is obviously cheaper. andy

how did the head hold up in the end? im seriously considering looking at one of these as a replacement to my current class d head but worried about the volume, well i say worried its just a big drop from 1000w to 100w! but the fact i use an 810! hopefully this should push enough air that its not really a problem, and i as use alot of effects any chance you know if it plays well with fuzz and dirt pedals? andy
-
i used to use a behringer rack eq going into the front of my terror bass to give the eq a bit of help, worked just fine. andy
Agre, OTB is a great little amp, plenty of power, great warm tone but to get any flexibility pedals most likely needed.
totally agree my 1000 is a awesome place to start but to change the flavour it needs a few pedals put in front, but you could also try an eq pedal that might give you a bit more variation. but if you want the gk sound probs best to stick with the 550 andy

Serious Question To Those Who Use A Full Stack
0175westwood29 replied to MindGoneBlank's topic in Amps and Cabs
Being sensible for a moment, you can have too much for the gig... and if you are running big amps, you'll find that the drummer is turning green and the bass is right off the back walls, so you should find this out pretty quickly. The big amps are able to put the sound OUT there and you are going to be louder in the room than you will be closer to the rig. This might sound great payback for the drummer but you have to be very careful otherwise you are just running too loud. This is why the comparitively 'weedy' small amps are a better bet for a pub. As with all these things, you can't be oblivious to the overall effect and especially so if you have no one out front.
but this can be checked in a 2min sound check, for me there is something about a 810 that just works. andy -
Moved things around a bit and cleaned up some cables, so here's the current state of the madness
Such a nice board man!! -
so i need a new home/ mini rig as i cant exactly take my 810 and 1000w orange around with me! have been looking on line and as ive fallen right back in love with ashdown stuff, my 810 is a mag, i saw a deal online where i could grab a CTM 15 and a cl212 to go underneath it! for a decent price so hopefully its turning up in the next few days! :-) from the videos on youtube really looking forward to putting my pedals thru this! however i can also see this giving me gas for a ctm 100! pics and most probably a video coming as soon as its all here! andy

Just ordered myself a set of Nordstrand pickups!
0175westwood29 replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Accessories and Misc
well there in the bass with no big problem, even managed to not burn myself with the soldiering iron! need to play them thru my big rig but first little tinker they sound very nice and as monkyman said above very smooth! andy -
I'd try all of the above, but as a thought if you have an overdrive or dirt pedal that cuts lows the octave probs wnt add a lot of lows to the sound at all, maybe grab a ls-2 and try them in parallel so there both getting a nice clean sound to work with. Andy
