1. It's sorted but not back from the shop yet, I'm so relieved - and it's not expensive they say, but I need to go in and they will tell me about it. Can't wait to get it back.
2. Another on the way...
3. Sterling ball is convinced that the bridge as a huge impact on the tone. It is quite a meaty bridge...
4. Also, bear in mind that as the Ray is wired in parallel, there may be volume differences between each pickup setting (the Sterling is consistent as it is wired in series). I have an HS Bongo, and the single is GREAT. I solo it all the time - EBMM have done it very well.
5. Yeah, you can order them now because of the classics. get one!
6. I played a 'Cat' bass a while ago and loved it, it had the classic P/J configuration and it sounded like...well a P/J bass. I like the looks and it played awesomely. The OLP is a piece of sh*te, it looks like a StingRay - but the sound or playability is nothing like. The woods and electronics are completely different for a start - just becasue it has a humbucker in 'that bit' doesn't mean it sounds like a Ray.
7.
Does the single coil at bridge sound better with a H or HS?!
It sounds the same. They all sound good. Here is a link to an incredible Sterling 5HS review - with audio samples and all. Scroll down the page a bit. http://www.bassemporium.com/newsletters/0908newsletter.html and here is an HH to compare it to... 8. I'm just sayin'.
9. Or an HS Ray. using the 5 way switch you can get - Classic StingRay tone, Single bridge coil, all 3 coils, 2 singles (neck and bridge), neck single. That covers Ray, J and P basses. Easy.
10. The newer Ray 5's have alnico magnets - same electronics as the Stingray. The Old SR5's had Sterling electronics...maybe check out the new Sterling 5.
11.
man alive, you must drink even more than i do..
A fair bit. Now this...
12. Sorry to bring this oldish thread back, but Dotfunk are playing at the Jazz Cafe again reletavely soon - would it be a recommended gig? Last time I went there was to see Maceo and it was incredible. One of the best gigs ever...
13. Bedouin Soundclash - when the night feels my song. Fantastic song and band, but awfully out of tune harmonies at the end...it's cringe worthy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlsBPH8O7q8 at 2:57ish
14. This bass is beautiful, shame about the cheap looking bridge. I am looking for a fretless...are you considering trades?
15.
^^^ obligatory funny hat shot.
Naboo the Enigma...
16. Oooooh, this is 2 doors down from me...if only I had the money... BLUMP
17. Love it man, sounds great. Reminds me of'The Black Crowes' for some reason, awesome stuff.
18.
PM's replied to. Still available at this point - still searching for the elusive lightweight superJazz.
The Bongo is lighweight, and with the HS configuration is pretty much as Superjazzy as you can get... heheh
19. Maybe an almost mint Bongo HS?
20. £1.35 I'll take it!
21. Phwoar, I could really do with this bass. But, alas, I just bought a Bongo 5.
22. Bongo 6!!!
23. These are supposed to be absolutely incredible. The regular production model (ie - no fancy top) will be available next year called 'Reflex' It's active, passive, series, parallel, HH, HSS, or H - me want.
24.
sorry to hear that. try firing off an e-mither to http://www.stringsandthings.co.uk/
I'll definitely email them, customer service said if all else fails then that is where to go.
I suggest you send an email to EBMM describing what kind of service the "local EBMM dealer" offers to EBMM customers.
I would, but I really don't want to take the matter any further really - I've sent a long email telling them what I think of them, and it ain't too nice Besides, they claim to be a MusicMan dealer, and you can order anything from them, but I've never seen a MusicMan in there (except one of mine they had hung up on the wall when it was supposed to be having repairs...grrr)
