So if you want the gig, talk to the drummer a lot and really pay attention to him when you're playing - chances are nobody else in the band does, so he'll be keen to have you back.
2.
John Turner is a very nice chap too. Helped me choose my Conklin 7 string way back when. It's always nice to see the ERB bashing is alive and well
I'm not doubting that he's a nice guy, but if he'd spent a few grand on a really ostentatious hat I'd take the piss out of that, too. It just so happens that in this case it's a bass guitar. Maybe it sounds nice, I don't know, I just don't like the look of it. I suppose when you pay for a bespoke guitar the chances are you're the only person who'll like the way it looks, unless you happen to have excellent taste.
3. It would be an interesting talking point as a coffee table.
4. Figure out their songs note-for-note, try to cop the tone too - if they're established songs then they probably don't want your input on them (or if they do, you'll find out when you get together to rehearse). Leave your pedalboard at home or take off all the stuff that you think is capable of frightening a guitarist.
5. Sorry, where are you based? Hard to entertain the idea of buying a huge heavy box without knowing how hard it will be to get it home.
6. Would you be interested in a trade involving an MXR Bass Auto Q for the BassIQ?
7.
the freq box sucks, big time, i was so gutted when i tried it last week, from what iv heard about it i was really quite excited, but god it was awful, passive/active/3 different amps, sounded sh*te on pretty much all settings
Did you try it through a low-pass filter to round off the corners off a bit? I think it's a really nice-sounding osc. Not sure if it's useful enough to justify £200 though.
8. Anything that will boost the gain before it gets to your amp, I suppose. So an MXR Micro Amp, maybe? Not sure how you'd deal with the change in level between the clean and dirty sound though.
9. Just re-wired my board yesterday: Bass -> Tuner -> Q-Tron -> Direct Out -> Boss OC-2 -> EHX BMS -> Return A on an LS-2 -> Effect Out -> Bassballs -> MXR Blowtorch -> IN on the LS-2 Loop B on the LS-2's got a Big Muff in it. It means I can't add distortion to the OC-2 or BMS, but they both sound better without it anyway. I did it this way mainly so I could give my filters and octave generators the same clean bass sound to work with. Out the other side of the LS-2 there's a crappy old DOD gate that needs replacing, a Boss chorus, Echo Park delay, and an LMB-3 that I don't switch on much.

I really want that weird box full of oscillators. I would be bored of it in a day but that day would be great fun.
11. If you've still got it next week I'll have it. I've got the bigger reissue one and really need to save that extra few mm on my board that I'd get from the nano!
12. I would normally be tempted but I'm supposed to be waiting on a new filter. Oh hell I'm still tempted. I am such a sucker.
13. Is it the XO box or the older one?
14. Ah right. That muff case looks in surprisingly good nick. I've seen much more battered-looking ones go for more than £80 on the 'bay.
15. You have an earlier post saying "Muff gone", and now you're posting muff pics? Might be an idea to clarify how many muffs are being discussed here and which ones are available.
16. Oh I don't have credit cards. And if I did, I wouldn't have any credit available on them.
17. I'd have these if it wasn't for all the tardy paying customers I'm lumbered with this month. Cash has stopped flowing entirely.
18. I was looking for ages for those super-short connectors and I haven't found anywhere in the UK that sells them. You can only get the offset ones, or the inch long sleeve ones. Please do post if you find a European trader flogging them.
19. I picked up tunes by ear off records like everybody else. I did try to take lessons but couldn't find anyone willing to teach me. I had also intended to study music at 6th form college but my dad wasn't going to let that happen. I taught myself to read bass clef eventually after lots of hours spent alone with books of cello music, but I couldn't sightread now - it was a skill I thought I'd need but I never did, so it's all but forgotten. Wish my harmony knowledge was better - that's what I tried to find a teacher for. I'm going to make an effort to improve that this year. Maybe start attending jazz jam nights to get some practice in once I get beyond the "horribly embarrasing" stage.
20. Keep it. Don't you have any kids you could sell? Nieces or nephews?

22. Didn't you just finish this last week? Not quite what you wanted then?
23. Nice chap, looks after his basses better than I do! -- Kev
24. Hehe. He's advertising his as an "Excellent bass" while mine's got chapter and verse about why they're rubbish.
25. Sorely tempted but I'm supposed to be waiting for their new synth pedal. MUST RESIST!!!
