I don't usually go for solo bass records but it'll be nice to hear what he can do without a mile-high rack of Eventide gear and enough processing power to fly a fighter jet.
From what little i have seen he is still sh*t hot.

  6. If anyone knows where theres a transcription or tab of 99.9 fareheit degrees, could they let me know.Sorry to hijack your thread.
  7. You will need either a morticing machine or a router, you can get these quite cheap then you will need to mark accurately where you want the hole and clamp the body down well on a sturdy bench, its not that hard just go easy, and make sure you get a decent router bit.Look up routing on google.

  15. I would definately try and learn at least your movable pentatonic scale, otherwise you will not be able to play in a composing band. Its simple and pattern based just stay in the boxes of the pattern and make sure your timings good.
  16.
Hey, My 'problem' is that i don't know what level i'm at right now. I've been playing for a year now, been using the same bass since i started. i always thought i was sh**e, but after playing in front of some guitarists and then a couple of bassists ive been told im far ahead for the amount of time ive been playing. the same compliment i get each time is that my finger picking is very good and very flexible. I was wondering how other people assess themselves and decide what 'level' they are at? or should i ignore this and simply keep practicing harder and enjoy it more? to give you an idea of what i can do, i can play songs like: californication, if, hard to concentrate by RHCP, a lot of songs by RATM such as bombtrack, and other random stuff i pick up. i find it hard to pick up notes by ear, tho im good at figuring out rhythm (i think im half-tone-deaf :|). i find it almost impossible to write music or simply improvise something when jamming. cheers
I know it sounds stupid, but are you just playing from tab? and copying basslines by ear or can you improvise ,you will need to be able to do this to have a proper jam,i would say this is the turning point for guitarists and bassists.Once you have learnt to use a few well known scales and modes and how to apply them you can get by in most band situations, and construct your own lines.
  17. Go back and check your solder joints,it might be a dry joint,if they were working befor its highly likely its just a connection problem and just something simple.

Is anyone into Can,i have really got into there stuff at the moment its very original and seems to be a big influence on a lot of bands who have been very good,i never realised the mondays covered hallaluwah as hallalujah. There is some pretty cool and funky bass playing on the documentary im watching about them.
