  1. There are many terms in woodwork that separate the British and Americans Bill.
  2. Exactly. Anyone know of a cure for itchy trigger finger?
  3. I think they use stock photos. The one they supplied to our guitard was centre -ve.
  4. I was just going to suggest MyVolt. Our lead guitard bought one from them recently.
  5. There is a convention in electronics that the positive rail, the 12V, in this case. Is on the centre pin. This is because it is possible for the outer connection to be shorted to earth via another piece of equipment's metal parts. If the 0V or ground (GND) is connected to the outer, it causes less chance of a short circuit (bang followed by magic smoke). Our good friends at Boss. Decided that in order to sell more pedals, batteries were not the answer, so they used a 9V DC power supply but saw that as a sales opportunity. So how could they make more money selling power supplies too, keep us safe from cheap power supplies? The answer initially was to make a proprietary (now de facto) standard for their pedals. So we are stuck with negative centre DC plugs. The other 98% of equipment uses centre positive. Buy one like the Switch Electronics one and solder a new plug, Ask Thomann about a new one or buy one with multiple tips. Get one with multiple tips. The first option is great if you can solder. The second is easiest but maybe more expensive. The third is easy and cheap, but there is the danger that the tip could come off during a gig. If you do go the third route, use some heat shrink to make the mechanical attachment more mechanically secure.
  6. I agree but XLRs are rated at 10 amps whereas many jacks are rated much lower and XLRs are locking.
  7. The cab in the first post was designed to go with my supercharged Ashdown After Eight. It is much better than it ought to be. I believe the design of the easy build is being drawn up as we speak, but the computer is very old and is driver by six heavy horses. Sadly one of the horses has gone lame but once it has recovered, the design drawings will be ready (I think).
  8. If you have a good comppression driver/horn crossed over properly you do not need a driver angled upwards.
  9. XLRs were used by a number of manufacturers for speakers, to overcome the current and mechanical limitations of 1/4 jacks.
  10. To be fair, I was reading the graph incorrectly. The Sensitivity at 1KHz IS 97dB.
  11. I would love to have come, especially as @stevie is debuting his new 10". It is his first commercial cab that I have not seen/heard in development, so I await all your comments with anticipation. However, look at the Monza and Monaco too. I have been gigging the 12" Monaco for a while and love it. When I heard the 10" Monza before launch, it was great. Enjoy! Oh and give my regards to Frank Black, you were missed at the SW Bash Frank.
  12. The more like 95dB if you read the graphs correctly.
  13. I bought one a while back and ordered it in the blue but changed my mind and got the black instead. It was a backup for my Aerodyne, but I honestly play it more. They have lovely necks, really comfortable to play and sit well with no neck dive. If I lived closer, I would be there in a shot. The only change I have made to mine is to fit Hipshot Machine Heads. If I had to sell 3 of my four basses, my M2 would probably be the one I kept.
  14. Are you sure about the date? I don't believe the "jazz" control plate and pick guard came in until much later. They were first made in 2003 and those had no pick guard and the controks and jack were through body, a year or two later they used a Strat type jack arrangement. AFAIK the style on yours is a few years in.
  15. As I said, I have a lot of respect for Alex, and he makes great cabinets, but at the end of the day, Barefaced use similar drivers to many others. Thee laws of physics dictate that a ported or bass reflex cabinet cab only output so much noise, and unless the sea air in Sussex has magical properties, they cannot be significantly louder than any other bass reflex cabinet with the same drivers.
  16. Applying your finish with wire wool will give you that finish. I am not sure whether it works best with oil or lacquer/stain. The Crimson Finishing Oil is apparently better than Tung Oil.
  17. Don't fall for the marketing BS. Barefaced are fine cabs, but there is no magic fairy dust.
  18. They have a weird mid response. I don’t know if it is a phase issue or a dip in the response at the crossover frequency but having hear them live with “solo” singer ( paid karaoke singers) there is something so don’t like.
