1. The pin-up decal came from eBay, a seller called hectic-hillbilly, cost less than a fiver.
2. Change of circs so this one is staying, thanks for all the interest.
3. LOL, sod it - this has Mwaaaaahhhhhhhhh for days folks. Surprised the blue one generated so much interest & this one has been almost ignored.
4.
Nice one cheers, my main bass has a million dents in the neck I can try this out on Would it work if the wood has been lacquered?
Risky, any swelling of the wood around the dent may result in the lacquer cracking. I'd be minded to leave well alone & take comfort in the fact Fender charge a fortune to put dents in a bass.
5. One of the biggest bargains on here for a long, long time.
6. The steam generated causes the compressed wood fibres to expand back to (more ore less) their original shape. I've done this using a damp cloth & soldering iron tip but be careful not burn the wood with any exposed metal.
7. Tried to capture the flame in the neck too, not often you get flame & birds eye in once piece of maple.
8. That's a steal! The neck will clean up with some wire wool I bet & the scratches should come out with a machine polisher.
9. WOW, thanks for all the interest & to Pete for all the kind words (fancy going on my fretless thread next? ). Now sold pending the usuals.
10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ventura-Bass-Vintage...1#ht_845wt_1141 This takes some beating, unheard of brand, 1 picture of the back of a DIFFERENT bass - oh & a top question from a potential buyer .
11. Doh! Good point - sunny Teesside, about 6 miles south of the chemical sh!thole that is Middlesbrough.
12. Sold to a chap in Greece! Thanks for all the interest folks.   13. Hey up gas-heads, time to part with another lush Musicman Stingray. This time I have a 1993 SR4 in translucent blue burst with a lovely figured maple neck & original case. This era 'ray is one of the early 6 bolt neck models with the easy access truss rod wheel, 2 band EQ, fully working mutes & metal battery cover. The condition is superb, a few small scratches & impressions but all the paint is intact & the worst "damage" is a crack in the paint on the back. It's one of the cleanest 'rays I've seen from this period & has been babied during its life. The neck has lots of birds eye & flame & has turned a really nice golden/amber colour, frets are almost new, truss rods works smoothly & it's nicely set up with D'Addario ground wounds. Weight is a slightly tubby 10.2lbs but I didn't buy this for the weight, I bought it for the sound. With the ground wounds it totally nails Bernard Edwards tone on Chic's Everybody Dance. Price is £875 firm & I'm taking a hit on this one. If that seems steep compared to recent 'ray sales please bear in mind these basses are getting harder to find, especially in this condition & it's almost half the price of a new Classic 'ray. Not interested in any trades, I have my eye on something. Local tryout / collection welcome. If you would like it shipped I'll pack it but please can you arrange your own courier to collect. Okay - time for some piccies;
14. It seems the correct approach to pricing your bass on eBay these days is to ignore the recession & crank that price to the max. Drop your vastly overpriced links off here folks! 15. Arse biscuits - I'd have had this if I hadn't been in a frickin meeting all day , I only live 5 miles away too!
16. No mention that it's a real Fender but adding tags & stickers in the pictures seems designed to imply it's a Fender, a classic con banned under the sale of goods act. The bass is a dog & a half. That solid black on the forearm contour suggests it's plywood, not basswood but hard to tell given the blow torch relic job. 17. ... a copper earthing strip, as found on vintage Jazz basses between the back pickup & the bridge? Guitar Part Resource used to sell 'em but not any more
18. Aw shucks - me mother would be so proud, and slightly surprised, to read such positive comments. FWIW - Rasta, Geddy & Shaun were perfect gents to deal with, heartily recommended to all.
19. Guy next door works as a claims handler for TNT & has an interesting take on packing guitars. "If it looks like a box we treat it like a box, if it looks like a guitar we treat it like a guitar". In summary he recommends a triple layer of big-cap bubble wrap with the case handle exposed because then it gets picked up & put down as opposed to slung around when it's moved. He also says big-cap offers greater impact protection than even tri-wall cardboard. I use a box if I can get one, just makes me feel better I guess but failing that my free supply of big-cap sees plenty of action.
20. Some (bad) pictures.
21. Doh! I have a fretless 'ray & can't hack 5 strings . If you can get a go on a RW I think you'll be impressed by it.
22. Skinny necks just aren't working for me so I'm floating this bass with the hope of bagging another Stingray. I have to admit that I have been won over by the Road Worn basses, the most impressed I've been with a Fender product since I played my first JV in 1982. Nicely put together, this one has that feel & the sound is seriously impressive, my original plan was to drop some Fralins in this but I liked what I heard from the stock pickups so they stayed. Having played a few CS relics the Road Worns get so close as to make the extra outlay very difficult to justify. I'm valuing the Jazz at what it owes me which is £725 (it has a well used hard case too) & will put some cash towards the right bass if needs be. Trade wise all I'm interested in are Stingrays, nothing else & even then I'm a bit picky. Ideally I'd like something with mutes & the metal battery cover - colour & neck is unimportant. Failing that I would consider a newer model but I'd prefer a rosewood board on one of these because I hate the anaemic maple EB use these days. I'd also prefer a solid colour or a 'burst - again, I don't dig the metallic finishes EB are currently offering. Condition is not a prime concern, as long as it's not been ragged to within an inch of its life. Of course, if God loved me, then Rasta would sell me back the 'ray I stupidly sold to him last month . Not asking for much am I? . I do like the Jazz & will keep it for messing around on but I figure the right 'ray will see much more use in my fat hands. Piccies up tomorrow when the sun's back up.
23. I'm sure one of our Status experts will chime in but I think that is an early Energy or a an S3000. I think the S2000 was all graphite.

Perhaps times are a changin'.
Saw that yesterday, well OTT in my opinion. Great bass & I am looking for an L1000 from that period but the last one I saw that sold on US eBay was less than half that price.
