1. Stealer Live Bass mix is very low on the video - very strange, but if you plug headphones into the PC its really full.
 2. The two main criteria for the job are - 1 - Be able to play Bass. 2 - Be able to SWIM!!
 3. Hi, I play in a band called Stealer. STEALER are a Five piece band from East Anglia whose aim is to capture the sound and feel of the great Rock/Blues band FREE. Along with bands such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Cream, FREE were one of the most influential bands to come out of the 1960's, playing their mixture of rock and blues styles, they were at the forefront of the British Blues boom in the mid to late sixties. STEALER recreate the sound and vibe of that pioneering decade with visual effects and an authentic sound, as well as a look that harks back to the Woodstock era. 4. Cracking band on Rockpalast last night on the German channel. I.M.F. and the bass player TM Stevens - awesome. Check out a clip of him. TM Stevens Bass
 5.
Hi folks! I wonder if you can help me with a little problem? As I understand it, my fretting hand shouldn't be supporting any of the weight of the neck. This is the playing position that feels comfortable to me: And here's what happens when I let go: It's not a massive problem; I don't have to hold the neck up much, but supporting the weight still makes my left hand much less mobile and so affects my playing. Am I making a fuss about nothing? If I shorten or lengthen the strap as much as possible, it doesn't really help - the bass still wants to "settle" in that near-horizontal position, and in addition it makes the playing angle more awkward for both hands. The strap I'm using is a fairly slippery nylon job; I thought maybe if I picked up a leather one with a rougher back it might keep the neck up a bit better by stopping the strap sliding over my left shoulder. Does this sound like a good idea? And finally, is this generally what happens with a Precision shape, or is this one just poorly balanced because it's a cheapo Squier?
Top of the serious neck dive category must be the Gibson SG bass, I have to play one and it's terrible, let go and the headstock will hit the floor.
 6. Preferably looking to join an existing band but would consider a new project. Experienced player, Pro gear, own transport and will commit. Most styles but I definitely cannot slap.
 7. Superb TV last night on the WDR German channel - Rockpalast featuring Tower of Power. Awesome soul/funk band that has been around for over forty years - seriously good bass player.
 8. Played a tribute to Free gig last night with Stealer at High Barn in Essex. What a fantastic venue - real pro set up - great front of house sound. The place was full with punters from far and wide and the response was terrific - standing ovation at the end. I was very pleased by a comment from the sound engineer stating that my bass sound - bottom end was one of the best he had ever heard at the venue - Mark Bass Rig and SG EB3. 9.
So... I went to the Leicester Square premiere of A Bit Of Tom Jones last night. It was a great feeling being in a cinema watching a film and hearing yourself on the soundtrack. It was weird seeing my name in the end credits though!!! It's not a bad film at all. In fact it's very funny. I was laughing out loud in places. I'd definitely recommend it. http://www.abitoftomjonesthemovie.com http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8480054.stm Anyone else had their music in films, TV shows adverts etc?
Strange World. My wife came home from work telling me about this film about Tom Jones c*ck. Apparently the film is going to be massive. I don't know whether Tom's c*ck is though?

 16.
Hi Steve. I'll put the pot on if you're popping over buddy! Maybe I can convince you to do a few gigs with us? lol
Hi, Joking apart. If you are playing any gigs further south I will try to be at the gigs. Tried to get a Journey tribute together a couple of years back, quality musicians all in place but just could not find a vocalist to do the job.
 17.
Thing is, I'm an old school dude. Before the internet it was possible to be called the same name as *many* club-cover bands, even in the UK. It was unlikely you would ever cross paths with a band from down London way, if you were from, say, ...Sheffield (as I am). But then the internet comes along, and everyone can see the other bands, and it's like they own the name. Well *FECK THAT!* We're just tribute acts, in different continents... Neither one of us are gonna *make it big* so I reckon that we'll not be confused with the US based band... We're not trying to sell ourselves in a big internet based promotional experience... If someone were to turn up to one of our gigs expecting those guys, I'd be *very* surprised, and would laugh my tats off at them. and finally, to be honest, we didn't know about the other guys when we decided on the name. A quick search of the internet only showed a UK based, original pop boy-band type thing... but we rehearsed for 3 years waiting to get a full line up... and we stuck with the name, cos we were used to it...
Oh sh*t, I better cancel my flight tickets from the States..........Steve Perry
 18.
As a return favour for allowing us to rehearse at the Eastwood View WMC in Rotherham we, "Departure" have agreed to do our first gig there. So if you're in the South Yorkshire area on Sat 12th Dec we will be performing. You'll probably have to be an old fart to be interested in Journey songs ...and the ticket fee is £5 on the door or £3 in advance from the club, (I have some too if anyone *was* interested in hearing my Schroeder rig of doom, marred by my bad playing... ) It'd be great to see you there. So come and introduce yourself if you do come! ...and may God bless all who sail on her! Andy
Love Journey. The band name is not to original though. Check out these guys? 19. Hi, I play bass in a FREE tribute band called Stealer. We are based in the Cambs/Lincs area and are looking to spread our wings to play venues further afield in 2010. The gigs we have played so far have gone down a storm and feedback from audiences has been brilliant. We are not a look alike tribute act but put all our efforts into recreating the classic blues/rock sounds of FREE. We are not interested in playing small pubs etc as we have already paid our dues over the years and are now playing venues at the next level up or supporting larger acts i.e Wishbone Ash etc. Visit My Website Can any of you fellow musicians out there recommend any venues or contacts/promoters where our particular brand of music would be appreciated?

Jeff also has worked with Climax Blues Band, Judie Tzuke and Def Leppard.
 21.
Allo! Tonight was opening night for `Dick Whittington And His Cat', at the Key Theatre, Peterborough - we've had two and a half days worth of tech/dress rehearsal and the show went off really well! Anyone else started yet? (I know mine brother Richard of Out To Play Jazzeth is supplying biblical tones for Toyah Wilcox in Sheffield!). Ciao! Nick (not widow tw an key!)
Hi Nick, Stealer are playing at the Cherry Tree this Friday 11th December. If you can't make it, send your old chap along, I'm sure he would enjoy it.
