1.
Yeah, and have a look at what the anonymous person in the top banner is playing. A BB body with Attitude (DiMarzio?) Neck HB, Mid P and.. What's that?.. A Bridge P? Now you're talking! As an Attitude owner, I find their tone monstrous, but they lack the ability to "sing" like the best. What they need is a bridge pick-up. Preferably either a Fender JJ or MEC JJ as used in the Precision Deluxe or Dolphin Infinity....
That's our man, Dave Lomenzo and his BB was made to his spec with that extra EB0 type pup and the bridge P. IIRC he also had them make a slightly reduced body size. I love the maple board too. I wish Yam's custom shop specials were available to Joe Blow, I'd have one of those. Absolutely no complaints with my 2024x or 2025x though. They are so good I'll probably let my Spector go soon as it just doesn't get played much If you look at the artists pictured in the BB catalogue you'll see that most of them have either prototype BBs that differ from the production ones or they have custom finished ones eg. Tony Kanal's has an old BBOT type bridge and Mad Anthony has his Chickenfoot logo on the body and that chili artwork on the fingerboard. It's interesting that Big Bad Duff is one of their stable of artists now considering he is known for playing Fenders and has his own signature model Fender.
2. Bump! Great amp for newbies, practising (auxiliary inputs for mp3 players and drum machines) small gigs, rehearsals etc. Can even be used as a wedge monitor for your deaf drummer.

I traded my DJ4 for a Sterling. A very detailed trade with great comms, easy all the way. The bass arrived packed in superb condition, very secure and well padded indeed. Don's a great guy to deal with - no issues whatsoever shipping basses across the channel; this is the third time I've done it and this time it left the UK Wednesday lunchtime and arrived at Don's place in Belgium by Friday lunchtime. 48 hours - very impressed. I think the Sterling took about 48 hours incoming too if you factor out the national holiday (?). Great service all round.
4. Footprint of this is 7" x 11.5" - sorry for the delay in responding.
5. I emailed the editor and told him about it! Also mentioned that the photos they used are of a BB2024x - you can clearly see the difference in body shape and the "CRAFTED IN JAPAN" on the headstock as well as the dead giveaway, "BB2024X". Surely someone should pick up on this stuff; a bass weighing nearly two stone!! Even someone manly enough to own a 400+ and a 1516 would balk at that kinda weight!
6. Many thanks to the hordes of people who got in touch about this, I was overwhelmed with interest. I wasn't sure there was much interest in DJs any more but was proved wrong entirely The bass is now traded for the Red Sterling (wasn't he the guy behind The Twighlight Zone? ) of Bassdude BE.
7. I bought a EHX Memory Boy to get sounds to emulate the guy in The Cult and other stuff and it's a great little pedal for the money, very versatile and capable of some crazy sounds too if you use the silly settings. Anyone else got one and what do you use it for? How much better is the Memory Man? What are the differences?
8. Awesome! I sleep with mine!
9. This bass isn't getting used and I'm fancying a Sterling for use in my current band. I might consider a Ray if it's pretty and then again I just might stick a preamp in this DJ and use it again. Apparently it started as an idea on TB to have a special DJ made (like the DPLE ones previously done) that was identical to Adam Clayton's one - I don't think there was enough interest for it to go ahead but as I understand it, Dan Lakin thought it would be a good idea and they went ahead and did it. To the best of my knowledge there are only three of these with Chi-Sonic pups. It's one of the last Korean made ones (2008) and is as good as any DJ I've played. It's not been modified by me and it's the only bass I've had that I haven't "improved"!
10. Stunner! One of the first sixers that has made me go WOW!
11.
I am very very VERY VERY VERY jealous that you have a Super BB! I wish I could afford one I want one so badly! What are they like to play? Are they worth the money?
In answer to your question, yes they are very very VERY VERY VERY good indeed. So much so that I just had to have a fiver too. Epic 34" 5-string, ultra resonant and it has the best J pickup on the planet, it is huge.
12. Photos added. And yes, I've started using those Grolsch rubber washers instead of Schaller straplocks as I was finding that the straplocks on the end of the straps were damaging my basses. I'll explain some other time - too tired now and doesn't makes sense...
13.
What, you wanna know all the secret knowledge? Be prepared to roll up your trouser leg then!
Funny you should say that - I started to think about this subject after playing a gig in a masonic hall that had terrible acoustics :-D
14. If a guitar amp is needed and anyone can't make it I can bring a Marshall 2554 1 x 12" 25/50w valve combo Jubillee series - it's small, recently revalved by our very own Martinbass7750 and insanely loud.
15.
you sure you dont want to sell the octave delux?
I need it for a Muse song at the moment. I might sell it when I decide what I'm doing longer term - watch this space but don't hold your breath
16. Bump for my prettiest...
17. I've played this and concur, it's very very special indeed. I love the East in my NS5 XL and just keep the volume pot backed off a bit, active input on the amp and it gives a great sound. This redwood with humbuckers has a very different, warmer character compared to my maple one with P/Js and it's lighter. A fabulous bass that I'd happily adopt and gig if I had the cash. Spectors have a real magic about them and as I've said before they remind me of Ducatis and Lamborghinis, inasmuch as many people don't "get" them until they've tried them and then when you do you have your moment of truth and it all becomes clear. The quality of work on US Spectors is as high as any other luthier out there. They are absolutely magnificent.
18. I like it. Looks like the opinion is yin yang I've always liked that design and I wouldn't give a stuff about the Wooten association either; I have a Lakland DJ that is like Adam Clayton's and he's not bothered in the least.
19. You'd have thought that after using Marshall VBA400 amps that he would have chosen an Ashdown Small Block 427. I had an ABM for a while but couldn't get on with it.
20.
FTR I am a bloke and I am straight, I just got the hunky homos avatar recently to balance out all the airhead bimbo avatars.
FTR my avatar ladies are neither bimbos nor airheads! Thank you very much! ;-)
21. Nice bass and as always, great photos - that bit of fabric really does the instrument justice, good work!

23. Hi I'm selling my ME-20B. It's boxed with the original packaging and has the original manual. It's had only home use (in my drummer's conservatory!). I bought it for home rehearsals with our drummer to save me lugging my pedal around but that band has now fallen apart so I'm looking to sell this as it's surplus to requirement. Great little unit that runs on batteries if needed or a standard pedal power supply. Very easy to use and has some very useable presets. Here's the link to the Boss site. £80 Collected from Gloucester. Add £5 P&P - UK Mainland only excl Highlands and Islands etc.
24.
both discontinued now, to be replaced by ME25b and ME70b, which are pretty tough to come by as of yet. The 20 was a fun, easy to use unit and the 50 was a real giggers delight as simple as having seperate pedals, and you can get them cheap enough now second hand. The 25's seem to be laid out with presets in mind, tidier sounds and Usb out to record to computer etc, and the 70 has improved sounds and a few more effects. Great idea, especially if you're in a genre spanning covers band.
I've had/have both. I'd agree with Andy, the 20 is a great little unit if you don't demand long effects chains and use a strightforward collection of sounds. The sound quality is pretty good and it is very small; you don't really a good idea of the scale of it from the website but it surprised me when I saw it in the flesh. I bought my 20 from a basschatter - I intended to use it at small rehearsals and for taking to our drummer's house so I could emulate the sounds I use for the function band set without carting my full board around. I had the 50 a few years ago and I think the reason I ditched it was because it didn't have the bank switching capability without an outboard extra pedal and also because it didn't have some effects combinations. I can't quite remember. I'm selling my ME20b now. It's boxed and you can have it for £80 + P&P if you are interested.
25. Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now album - it's a collection of twelve great songs that have been assembled to chart twelve stages of a relationship from meeting and falling in love through to breaking up and getting over the break up and realising there is life afterwards. It's a masterpiece that everyone I have introduced to it has fallen in love with. Crack open a bottle of red, put it on jump in, it's a very moving and soulful work with big lush productions. I also like anything by Tom McRae and REM's New Adventures in Hi-Fi for those more contemplative moments.
