2.
Me! I feel all left out.
I sold mine. Thought id 'upgrade it' but now im worse off. I dont use too much octave, so that numbs the pain of my stupidity a little.
  3.
But if I switched everything on at once, I could unplug the jack from my bass and stick it in my ****ing ear and it still made the same sound. Ultimate!

Also I could get a laser sound out of it that ended in a fart sound. Not alternately a laser sound and a fart sound, but both in succession with the same settings, just from licking the jack plug.
I would pay to see that on stage! You dont see technique methods like that every day.
  4.
MXR M-80. Used for live and in the studio for two years now, great pedal. Very versatile EQ section, seperately switchable distortion circuit (with an included noise gate) and a clean DI.
Another one for the MXR here. I actually almost sold it at first, but now its become probably my most essential pedal. The EQ is always on for me as I like how it can fatten up my sound, and its always useful to have a distortion with a built in blend. Just frees up another space on my board.
  5. I think ive found a setting that works for me, finally. Ive been listening to various sound clips and none of them really floated my boat, so I thought id carry on fiddling with the GR a bit more. I think the main thing I learnt was that filters just arent for me, I guess thats why I was never happy with the sounds. I tried the suggested settings and all I got was a wet quack with my bass. I basically tried the opposite, turning the sensitivity and intensity down low and putting the attack and decay quite high. It sounds horrible on its own, but when I put my distortion after it, it gives me that vocal-like roaring sound I was after. Problem now is fitting the GR back on my board! Might have to sacrifice the Agro as im not sure its working for me.
  6. Looks like im first to pass on the praises. Just sold a pedal to Ivan. Received the money straight away and was a pleasant guy to communicate with. Thanks for the easy transaction!
  7.
I've not tried that many filters, but the WMD Fatman is certainly what I'd describe as deep and throaty, along with the Chicago Iron Parachute or Wilson Freaker wah pedals if you're not just limited to envelope filters. Heard god things about the Guyatone BR-3 Bottom Wah Rocker too, they did some re-issues recently too due to demand from all the Tool fanboys!
Thanks, I'll have a look into them. Not sure if I can make space for a wah pedal, but I certainly wanna try some others out.
Your GR is thin sounding!? Are you using it on the low setting? Mine seems to crumble the floor beneath me its so deep and sub-like... In fact unless I put it on the high setting I struggle to get it to sound remotly quacky and funky... Shep
I cant seem to find a sweet spot with my GR. The low setting seems too boomy for me, and the high setting gets quacky. I want it to make my bass roar rather than flap at me, but I cant seem to find a setting for that.
  8. As the title says really. I dont like my filters to be thin and quacky, so im looking for something throatier and deeper, more wah like. I only really use it with dirt so I need it to work well with that. I didnt particularly get on with a Boomstick Bottom Feeder, and my current Groove Regulator is too thin and funky for me. Any suggestions to check out? I was looking at the MXR BEF as all those knobs surely mean theres a range of sounds in it? Not sure what else to be looking at.

    Hyperion sold too.
  10.
Does the SFX handle actice basses?
Yeah it works fine with them. I use a Warwick Thumb with no problems, so I assume its the same for other active basses.
  11. The SFX Micro Fuzz does a thick fuzz really well, lots of low end on tap too. Plus its one of the only fuzzes ive played that doesnt hiss at me when I crank the drive up.

    Signal Path Help
yep, thats great
Nice one. Some people prefer the envelope filter before the compressor too so that it doesnt affect the dynamics going into it. Something you may want to try too.

    Signal Path Help

From those, id go for tuner > compressor > octave > filter > chorus > reverb Tuners and octaves at the beginning can help with more accurate tracking. Compressors are a more personal choice, but I like mine at the start so it doesnt muffle up some of my dirt pedals.
  15. Im not that big on the M9 one either, but I dont use it often so it gets me by for now. I never thought much of my OC-2 when I had it, but since trying out a few others, I realise it was a mistake to sell it off.
  16.
tidy set-up. some great pedals. not sure about your take on the octamizer though. i use one with my mm sterling and it sounds great. i do crank the bass e.q. and knock back the mids and high, though, as this helps it track better. also playing evenly near the neck seems to work. stick a decent fuzz/distortion after it and some great noises ensue. i'm after one of those m-80's. my sansamp bddi seemed to lose my tone in the mix. my groove regulator is proving a challenge at the moment. i'm going to try sticking it at the front of chain instead of the end. it doesn't seem to like too much dirt.
I play a Warwick Thumb and the Octamizer doesnt seem to like it. Used to have a boost pedal before it so I thought it may be that, but nothing changed when I removed it. Im not sure. I love the range of sounds you can get, its just the tracking thats a problem for me. And I agree about the GR. I dont use an envelope filter much, but when I do I like to run a fuzz into it. The GR doesnt really react well to it though, whether the fuzz is in its loop or not. Sounds great to me as a stand alone filter, but I dont have much use for that in my band.
  17. Apologies for the poor picture. This is what ive thrown together at the moment after downsizing my pt-pro. I had an Aguilar Octamizer and an Agro on there, but they just didnt work for me. The Octamizer cant track a thing (might be my active bass?) and glitches all over the place, and the Agro completely gets lost in the mix and takes all the oomph out of the bass. I dont use octave that much, so im using the one on the M9 instead if i need it, and im using the MXR for my overdrive/distortion. Not sure on the Groove Regulator or Noise Box either. Theyre partly there to fill the space and give me an option, but I dont know how much i'll use them. Dont know if im happy with this board.

Need a bit of cash, so im selling a couple of bits that im not really using at the moment. All pedals have velcro on the bottom and only the loop pedal is without a box. Payment by bank transfer is preferred, paypal accepted. [s]Devi Ever Hyperion - Good muff type fuzz, I prefer it to the Big Muff but it could do with a blend pedal if you want to keep the low end. SOLD posted[/s] [s]Boss LS-2 - Useful for all sorts of blending/mixing/switching, you all know what it is. SOLD[/s] [s]True Bypass Loop - Basic pedal I picked up, rattles a bit when shaken but does its job. Input/output on the right, fx send/return on the left. withdrawn[/s] Cheers.
  19. I have a bit of a love hate relationship going on with my Thumb. Id always wanted one for ages as I love the Warwick tone, and I like the quirky/ugliness about it. It just doesnt sound like all the clips ive heard, and theres a few problems here and there. I think what I need is a proper setup though to sort it out because I dont have much experience with that. The B string is boomy, particularly above the third fret, and theres a little bit of fret buzz on the 5th and 6th frets and on the open E too. Also, it doesnt seem to have that growl or power to the tone that Warwicks have, so I think the pickups could do with being sorted out. Ive had this bass about 18 months and I dont really want to get rid, but something isnt quite right. Gonna try and get it sorted out cus it took me ages to get it, and im quite lazy when it comes to selling. Nothing else ive tried really gives me the low end that Warwicks do though.
  20. I currently use a 1001rb-II. I love the power it has and the punch it kicks out, plus you can pick them up at a great price second hand. It has a great low end, but its a little bright for my taste. Im gonna be trying a different speaker soon though as the GK ones are pretty bright themselves, might suit me better then. Really wanna try a fusion 550 for a warmer sound.
  21. I know that if I ever had a pedal built into my bass, its only a matter of time until I get bored of it or want something different in there. Much safer for me on a pedalboard.
  22.
My first pedal board. Your opinions and comments are quite welcome! Mike
Got some good pedals there for a first board. Give it a couple of months and you'll have hundreds of pedals you dont need, its just too addictive!
