Octamizer and Sea Machine sold. Didnt expect so many sales this early Cheers guys.
  2. Ive been pretty happy with my pedalboard for a while now, so ive convinced myself to sell most of the ones im not using instead of holding onto them "just incase". All prices include first class recorded delivery. I will accept Paypal, but due to the fees and limits, id prefer payment by bank transfer. Earthquaker Devices Grand Orbiter - Nice thick phaser, same sale reasons as above. Slightly faded graphics. WITHDRAWN Malekko 616 - Real nice delay with modulation options. This is also going because of my M9's revival. WITHDRAWN [s]Demeter Compulator - Bought this earlier this year to give it a try, but I prefer my Multicomp. Looking for what I paid. SOLD[/s] [s]Aguilar Octamizer - Good range of sounds in this box, but I simply dont have a use for it. SOLD[/s] [s]Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine - Plenty of knobs on this chorus to tweak to taste. Im using my M9 again though so this is redundant. SOLD[/s] [s]3Leaf Groove Regulator - This is the first version without the blend. I just dont do filters I guess. SOLD[/s] [s]Tronographic Rusty Box - Big fuss over these on Talkbass. I like it, but I was after a 2 channel overdrive and have just found the pedal for me. Only had it a couple of weeks, so id like to get most of my money back minus all the charges. Comes with the supplied power adapter. Looking for SOLD[/s] [s]ZVex Woolly Mammoth - I think this is the 3rd time ive put this up for sale before changing my mind. Simply put, I only use active basses so this is no good to me. There is a piece of chipped paint on the underside but the rest is as you'd expect in good used condition. SOLD[/s] [s]Blackout Effectors Musket Fuzz - Versatile muff type fuzz. I have too many fuzzes so its gotta go. £90[/s] All pedals have velcro on the bottom, and they all have boxes except the Compulator and I think the Musket. In terms of trades, theres not really anything I want at the moment. I'd consider some kind of noise maker or something else interesting like that, but im really just looking for the cash so I can sort out my rig. Let me know if you'd like any specific pictures. I dont have a big boy camera though so quality wont be great.
  3.
Brian Cook from Russian Circles has a pretty wicked bass tone:
My first thought was Brian Cook. Love his stuff in These Arms Are Snakes too. Surprised no ones mentioned Death From Above 1979 yet.
  4. Gotta be dirt for me. I find it easy to use in songs without sounding like its there for the sake of using an effect. I like an aggressive tone so I never play clean.
  5.
Great board Deej! Sea Machine Chorus = gas!
Thanks. I only got it last week on a bit of a whim on ebay. I thought it looked ace so I bought it to give it a try, hope to give it a proper run soon.
Did you say REPLACE?! Get a bigger board.
Ive just come down from a PT2 I like the size of the Jr, but every time I go back to it, theres just one damn pedal that wont fit!
Awesome looking board
Cheers, that Oxide went straight on there! I dont like how american this board is getting though, feel like I need some british built pedals on there to balance things out. Might have a look at the SFX Black Dragon and put it up against the Agro.
  6. Just about to wire this up now.. Got a Xerograph Deluxe in the post, not sure which pedal to replace yet though.
  7. Bought a pedal off Chris. Posted immediately and duct taped the sh*t out of the box, always a good sign! Cheers.
  8. I think that sums it up nicely. The Agro just doesnt seem very well thought out to me. Poor physical design for a pedalboard, and a lack of any real control over the sound. A standard tone control wouldve been much better. The problem with the contour is that you either have low end OR mids, and the middle ground is just the worst of both worlds. Either you get lost in the mix, or you have a thin sound. The simplicity of a blend really works wonders for the pedal, but its extra expense and more space taken on a board. Despite slagging this pedal off, I do love its distortion. Just a shame everything else is so wrong. Ive wanted to try out an XXL for a while. Im struggling to find an overdrive/distortion that suits me yet so im on a bit of a binge.
  9. +1 to the above. Blowtorch is definitely a fuzz, no doubt. I prefer a muff type for my go-to fuzz, but nothing beats a blowtorch for synth sounds with an octave behind it.
  10.
How does an active influence the low end loss? Does it drive the pedal harder or something, causing it to clip more quickly? Reason for asking is I play actives and dont understand
I dont know the technical stuff so im sure others will help out there, and its not the case with all pedals either. Its just that a lot of pedals seem to work better with passive basses, something to do with the higher impedance and all that malarky. The best example is with a Woolly Mammoth, commonly known to suck with active basses.
  11.
I understand the 'it loses low end' argument, but I don't think it really does
I use active basses with mine, so maybe that has more of an affect on it? I always feel like my bass is struggling in the lows when the pedal is on, and I really have to attack my bass to be heard. If it had a built in blend then it'd be a great pedal, but for something that costs around £150 new I find it massively overpriced. Really disappointed with all the Aguilar stuff ive tried.
  12. Ive never played the XXL, but the Agro cuts a lot of low end. Its a decent distortion sound, but it really takes the balls out of the bass.

    generics.

www.pedalboardplanner.com I sometimes use this site for a bit of rough planning, particularly for any future purchases I might be looking to buy. I can see whether they're gonna fit with my other pedals or not.
  14.
Have a Xerograph Deluxe incoming also!
I'll be ordering one of those bad boys soon, you'll have to let us know how it is. I havnt found a filter ive liked yet, so this is my last attempt at them before I give up completely.

    Line 6 M5

Does it still have the loop function? I love my M9 for giving me options around my core pedals, so i reckon this could be a useful little pedal. Whats the general price of it?

  17. I wouldnt have expected one of those to be good for fuzz, but they really are surprisingly good on bass. I like using it for a crunchy, aggressive overdrive/distortion, and the price is a bonus like you say.
  18. Ive done exactly the same thing just last week. Same bass, pretty similar experiences. Had a sale agreed early on and was ready to actually travel to London to drop the bass off, but that got cancelled just before I was gonna buy the tickets. Had a few silly offers followed by weeks of nothing, then more offers again with no replies. I withdrew mine last week as I felt it wasnt worth it. Im gonna give it a setup and maybe give it another chance, but the main reason I wanted to sell it was that I wanted the money to sort my rig out. If I do decide to sell it again, im probably going straight to ebay with a reserve so I know what i'll get. Hopefully less hassle.
  19.
How long had your previous set of strings been on? It may be that it was the strings, not the setup, that made the majority of the difference. S.P.
Ive tried new strings but it hasnt changed much. Im no expert at setting up my bass as ive hardly ever had to do it, but I cant seem to get this one quite right. Thats why im thinking of getting someone to do it properly for me.
I think it depends on what's done. In the bad old days, I've paid for setups where they've basically tweaked the truss rod, and that was about it. However, a pro-setup involves a lot more than that. This is what Peter Allen does. He charges £78, but it's worth every penny. I think you can get regular setups for around the £35 mark.
Cheers, I'll have a look into it.
  20. Ive never had a proper setup on any of my basses, but I think its about time I got one sorted. My Warwick feels lifeless and I seem to have lost the growl and power behind it, its just not there no matter what I do. How much does a setup normally cost?
