It looks like the older ones were semi-hollow and the new ones are solid, I'm guessing the description is still for the old one, but as you say, Thomann are usually on the ball. I'll be interested to see what arrives.

I've got the Ammoon one (£25 on ebay), it's works well enough, no noticeable change in volume or tone doesn't drop out, doesn't affect our XR18 WiFi, enough range, charge lasts about 4 hours, but I find the latency is noticeable so I'm back on a lead. There's a thread on here somewhere about it to save repeating the issues, I'll find it in a minute. -
I agree with the root experience trigger thing. My first bass was some of terrible EB0 copy, virtually unplayable but it lit the fuse. It was followed by my first 'proper' bass, a Yamaha Attitude Special, after a few years I traded that in for a new Yamaha BBG5s and played that solely for about ten years. I then bought a Yamaha RBX374 and used exclusively for a couple of years. Then the Internet came along and I've bought, sold and used all sorts (OK I haven't sold as many as I've bought) but every time I try a Yammy it's like 'coming home'. Anything that feels Yamaha-esque feels instantly comfortable and I'm sure that's from the first three real basses being Yammies.

Proof, if it were needed, that standing with your legs apart instantly makes you cooler.

They sound better without one 🤣🤣🤣

You can make cheaply and simply. Basically a length of wood, a pulley, a lever and a pickup, job done.
-
I love a good Cuica solo 🤪

Totally understand the pickup spacing issues (see avatar 😆 ), I've wired a series switch in to get some real punch and it's actually surprisingly versatile now.

I was going to say please tell me you're not spraying it there. If you want to eat the paint then feel free but those guitars don't deserve a misting of overspray. 😉 You're probably aware but if spraying in the garden at this time of year, watch out for cold/damp atmosphere, it can make the lacquer bloom, it turns milky opaque looking. I've done guitar bodies when it's been too cold but bringing them straight indoors after spraying to dry works, not so easy with an upright but worth doing if you can. Looking forward to the next set of pictures. 👍 😃

Who makes this kind of money being a bass player.....

To be honest that's how I view most news. -

Oh stinky poo, it's not me is it? 😳 😄 -
I've got a plan @stewblack, if it is indeed Japonic and clanky then you're not actually buying it. I'm buying it but you're going to lend me the money and look after it until I can collect it. The return for this favour is that if you fall in love with it whilst in your possession then I'll let you keep it and we'll call it quits in the loan. How does that sound? 😁

Eight albums, I've just checked. That was my first thought as well 😉 -
I meant more of a movement when I wrote 'tribes' rather than individual bands.

Too bloody right! Rise up angry adolescents, strap on your guitars and gather in your local music venues. We will chant your calls to arms, we will take on the establishment, we will show the world that we mean what we say and say what we mean, we will rise up and....... oooh me bloody knees.... you crack on Lozz, I'll be along in a minute. Now let's have a cup of tea first, I'm sure I had some hobnobs round here somewhere, anyway, did I put the kettle on? Zzzzzzzz.

I've said this for a long time. Take the beginning of the 80's various music scenes to the end of the 80's music scenes, the changes encountered along the way were huge. From a decade ago to today there seems to be no change in popular music. I know I'm becoming an old git and the above argument is an old gits argument, but do believe music has stagnated. I believe it's a result of far more youngsters having such a good lifestyle, there's nothing to rebel against. Hardship and pain always brought about the best music. Where's the young 'tribes' wanting to take on the world and shout angrily about it? Maybe the music business is actually seen as a business now and making money is more important than making a point. Oh my god what has happened to me? I'm not old and miserable really, honest. 🤪

I always thought that at the beginning Oasis sounded far more like Slade, but aligning yourself with The Beatles rather than Noddy and the boys was far cooler. They then grew into the Beatles label over the years. Shame really as their evolving from Slade to The Beatles mirrored their evolving from the exciting rock band they were into the droning pastiche of the band they wanted to be.

I'm confused. Isn't the GZR the Geezer Butler pick up, what's the link to Bobby Vega? 🙂

Another vote for Jona Lewie here. My daughter says she only has to hear the opening synth stabs of Wonderful Christmas Time and it instantly feels like Christmas.

On the subject of non album tracks, one of my favourite tracks they've ever recorded is Soul To Squeeze, I've no idea why they didn't include it on BSSM. It's just got such a beautiful laid back feel.

Maybe Woolworths, the tuners are from the pick 'n' mix counter . Sorry, I couldn't help myself. It actually looks nice with the flamed maple top. 😎
-
They love a good cover version, the first five albums all had covers on them.

I don't mean to belittle anyone's good intentions, but I don't think there'll be many applicants from the Basschat membership. 😁

Three of them yesterday, now none! Why must I be tormented in this fashion?
