  1. Yeah I've no real idea, I'm not that up on the engineering side of things, which is probably why I found the clip interesting. I do know though that if I play the same bass through the same preamp into my old Yamaha MT8X and my almost as old Fostex DMT8, the cassette doesn't sound as clean a reproduction as the digital. Surely that's the result of digital over cassette.
  2. I've just watched this on YouTube and thought I'd share. Really quite interesting and some useful information, but mainly just enjoyable and the sound they got in the end was almost bang on, if being critical it still sounded too clear and modern/hi-fi but maybe that's just unavoidable with today's digital way of recording and consuming music, computers rather than tape/vinyl. πŸ™‚
  3. I'm not really a fan of gold hardware in general but somehow it just works on a black Yamaha more than any other bass I feel. I have a black BBG5s with gold hardware that I bought new in the nineties, it was my only bass until the Internet came along.
  4. We just watched that and Mrs. M correctly guessed that one. Shh... Unicorn is John Barrowman and hedgehog is Alfie Boe πŸ€”
  5. In my head sliding harmonics shouldn't be possible, but they are.
  6. Yes I was quite excited to hear the soundclips too, not sure I've got a se..................... oh I see, sorry my misunderstanding 😊 I am actually intrigued as to the construction as well, it sounds great πŸ‘
  7. I'm doing the opposite, I seem to play fretless like a fretted. The trouble is when I try and sound 'fretless' it all gets a bit early eighties and I feel like Alan Partridge playing Music For Chameleons.
  8. That amused me far more than it should. 😁
  9. You can, you just end up with a shiny turd though. πŸ˜„
  10. That would almost be worth buying just to annoy our drummer. 🀣
  11. No it's a Hertz one, 57 cycles per second apparently. 😁
  12. I'm no electrics expert, not by a long stretch so this genuine interest, you are the man in the know. If wired in series would the bass only work if both outputs were used, the second jack plug being needed to complete the circuit, where as in parallel either output could be used independently?
  13. I'm guessing you want to add different effects to each channel (amp). I've never done it but I'd assume you can just wire a second jack in parallel with the first, just spur a wire off of each wire on the original jack and connect them to the matching terminals on the new jack. Being passive you can't harm anything trying.
  14. 🀞A man dressed as a clock, please let there be a man dressed as a clock 🀞
  15. Could be, I was thinking Clot.
  16. Ooh guess the word, I like a good quiz. I know what my guess is but would anyone drop the C bomb this early on New Year's Eve?
  17. I've only ever had unlined and quite honestly have never understood the lined/unlined thing. If you have side dots then I really can't see having lines or not makes things any different. On a fretted bass surely people aren't leaning over the front to see where they are by using the fretboard dots or blocks over using the side dots, same with fretless. I much prefer the look of unlined as well and would always buy unlined over lined if a choice was available.
  18. What an amazing Dad πŸ‘
  19. Our drummer was asked by Nick Heyward to be the druminator for Haircut 100 before they made it. Being into the whole punk/post punk scene he told Mr Heyward to feck off and informed him his band was sh!t. πŸ˜†πŸ€ͺπŸ˜„
  20. About ten minutes, any longer and I'm off. "Eh?" "Yes wait." "What, weight?" "Aw pants! As you were."
  21. My feelings at the moment? No! πŸ˜„

  23. I'm patiently awaiting my turn.
