1. Red one looks like Dorothys shoes in Wizard of Oz. Blue one looks like a slush puppie drink my young son would have on a hot day.
2. I had a tribute series 5 string and was glad to see the back of it. Felt cheap, sounded rough and was just not nice. I maybe just got a bad one but i wont buy any cheap eastern models again unless i play it first.
3. That is one desirable piece of kit. . Love the pup layout. Problem is i dont have the money. Spirit is willing but the wallet is weak.
4. I think we need more info on the bass. . . . . Age etc. .
5. My attempt at defretting ended up a train wreck. Trade for a fretless and avoid the "i wish i hadnt started this" line of thought. Mine was only a cheap esp but its now only fit for firewood. Dont wana get into how it ended badly but it started good and went downhill too far in too stop. If you wana try something different, defret carefully from 12th fret up to 24 or however high it goes then you have a hybrid.
6.
The MusicMan Sterling does not fit in this list. And to put it beneath the 'Sterling by MusicMan' entries makes no sense at all. The Sterling is a different instrument to the StingRay - smaller body, thinner neck, different electronics and actually more expensive than the StringRay, so I don't know what that does to your 'pecking order'. In any case - pecking order schmecking order - I was playing an Ibanez bass in a store this afternoon and for about £250 it played far better than many £1000+ instruments I've played. CB
What Ibanez model was it ?? If you don't mind.
7. Can we agree then that playing a bass with something other than four strings doesn't make you a better player - it just makes you a different player ? Before the anti-Maiden brigade get their truncheons out - I am not saying Steve Harris is the best ever, but he has a reputation with some quarters as one of the best players / writers in metal music. He has never really strayed much from a Fender P. If he had gone 5 / 6 or more I dont know if he would have been better - he would certainly have been different.
8. Whats it like to own something as beautiful as that . . . . . .but not want to keep it....... I wish i had the bread brother.
9. I have the sunburst geddy and the neck is just about as perfect as you could ask for on a 4 stringer. Good luck.
10. Id heard great things about the place. I must say that denmark st had one shop with a very strange way of being nice to customers. The whole dont touch it, in fact dont breathe near it unless you are going to buy it approach confuses me. I may still visit bass gallery though. If i ever go to london again......
11.
Have to say my first visit left me utterly underwhelmed. I suppose I should be grateful that they let me in at all...
Why ? Anything in particular?
12.
hey guys, I just read through the sticky topics and realized I'm newly registered here and trying to drop off a high priced instrument, maybe that's putting some of you off... so what can I do ? All the Best, Chris
One thing may help.. Is it left handed or right handed..... on the post the scenes with you are one way; the scenes without you are the other. Maybe putting some people off...... Good luck with sale. Cool colour.
13. This is a really lovely bass. Fanfrets are an addition to the playing experience and shouldn't be feared. Have a bump . . . . . . . . .
14. MM mmmmmmmm . . . . . Gorgeous top on that.
15. This is gorgeous.
16. Lovely. Have a free bump
17. Clover is a real looker. Harder to replace than a jazz is to buy and try. Try a jazz and sell what you play least.
18. Gorgeous. . . .
19. Thanks swanbrook. Circumstances kinda forcing sale. If i had any spare cash it wud be going nowhere.
20. Everything is only worth wot somebody will pay for it. I have a feeling it might be relisted. Several times........... At that price you could nearly buy a second hand custom shop five string bass from fender. I actually paid £1,600 for my four string custom shop fender about three years ago. Its too dear.
