1.
It's taking the scenic route!
No no, it's going north for a little holiday
 2.
And now, given that I listened to all the mixes anyway, here are also a few brief comments on the others, so that hopefully no-one feels they been left empty-handed! Hope that's of some help. Still five or so to go, so stay tuned for more tomorrow...
Wow! What great critique! Can't wait to hear what you have to say about mine! Thanks so much for taking the time to give us all some feedback, it must take you ages! Thanks
 3. Wow, fantastic! Thanks for posting that! And that gives me another idea for the relay
 4.
Damn your flattery, Milty! To be honest I'd already volunteered to compile and upload everyone's mixes this time round, so I'm happy to step up and run the next mix-off in place of Si. He deserves a well-earned break anyway! I know Si and others are keen to try an EDM (electronic dance music) mix...so I suggest we put that off till maybe next time, giving Si the chance to take part. Reggae seems to be the next favourite genre in line. I'm particularly keen on using Basschat members' mix stems where possible - and I notice that xgsjx posted a link to some earlier. So I'll check them out and set up a new thread with either those stems or others ASAP. If anybody objects to a reggae track for the next one then speak now or forever hold your... well, you know the rest
I'm not into reggae, but then I'm not into country or EDM either, so keep 'er like, b'jaysus!
 5.
Stax SR-80 SIlver Lim.Ed. Shame we can't see the one on the left ear. b, b
I bet it's just an SM58
 6.
A week or two back doing a quick support slot for a mate's band. Just turned up with a bass and a tone pedal and off we went...
Jesus! What happened to your ear!?
 7.
Sounds good. I'm on Dropbox already and I can join in whenever. I have a few photos taken at the LBGS, if they can be of any use.
I should be able to make use of them anyway
Also, is it worth setting up a Dropbox folder type thing so that everyone has access to all pics/vids at all times?
Sounds like a good idea, although I have next to no understanding of Drop-Box, other than it's like a cloud type storage thing.
 8. I'm going to do some promo videos for it soon. If anybody has pictures or footage of the bass, send them to me! [email protected] If anybody wants to shoot a quick endorsement for the relay, send that to me too
 9.
Excellent. @basschatuk is now following it and will retweet \m/ \m/
Great!
 10. I've set up a Twitter page for the relay https://twitter.com/BassRelay We now also have a dedicated email address
 11.
I've spoken to Dale - what a great bloke! He's going to send me his details and should be able to get it picked up asap- it's waiting and ready to go!! I'd like to use the emergency situation card if at all possible!! edit - the cut and paste didn't work for me - maybe I'm breaching some work protocol!!!
Do feel free, if Peter wants to allow you to use it. It's up to Peter. I'm going to get in touch with some courier firms ASAP (as soon as I have all the details) to see if they can do us a good turn. So unless you want it by the end of the week (in which case, use Peter's offer), I would imagine we can get something organised for next week.
 12.
To be honest chaps I think I'm going to have to duck out of this one, just for a month, because I'm just completely snowed right now, what with work commitments, and band stuff, kids, allotment, life, mixing other stuff etc etc - I cant see me being able to enter this one, let alone run it Sorry....
I think in that case, the running of the comp this month should be deferred to the next most capable and reliable member - Skol
 13.
I have a friend who will do me a favour and use his company UPS courier service - as long as its under 20kg they will send anywhere in the uk for around £6 next day delivery . Wouldn't like to offer that as a general offering but if there is ever an emergency situation ....well I guess thats when to play the card !
Feel free to use that to have the bass couriered between yourself and Donny. Any emergency situation will have to be dealt with when the situation arises. I don't think it would be fair to expect you to organise a courier when the bass isn't under your care.
 14. Thanks for putting effort into this, guys! I know getting these things courierd won't be cheap. Let me see if we can do anything to help out
 15.
Right!! Let's Rock!! On or around the 23 June I have arranged for John "Rhino" Edwards of Status Quo to get involved in some shape or form when the Quo play Falkirk Stadium . I therefore need to get the bass & gubbins (T shirt, collection pots . log book etc)up here pronto. Or I am going to feel like a complete diddy, and be disappointed I've sent a message to Dale at BB Blackdog as suggested , but see he hasn't been online since 15 May- if there's a quicker/more direct way to get it moving I'd be grateful for any assistance. I'd guess I'll be able to get at least local press coverage. Rhino kindly asked whether to get all of Status Quo to sign the bass, but as it's a bass thing I'm not sure about it. If we could get a pic with the rest of the band , or something supporting it that could raise the profile somewhat.Any thoughts? After that I have a gig on 5 July in Kirkintilloch ( thanks Gezzaboy) , and I could use it then before sending it back down if that suits?
If you know Dale's full name, I could try to contact him via the Facebook page. I'll let James say whether he wants the Quo to sign the bass or not, but plenty of good quality pictures would be good! They can go into the final auction when the bass has done it's tour of duty, so to speak Also, if you can get the guys to make an entry into the log book and/or sign the t-shirt, that would be cool too! All publicity for the relay is a good thing! Also, if you could give the Facebook page a bit of a plug (or even get the Quo to like it/share it on their Facebook page) that would be great! Well done for getting such a high profile act to get involved with the relay! As you know, it's all for a good cause
 16.
Hi guys Thanks for the helpful pointers. I'm looking at some potential solutions and those include the VB99 unit which I'd like to try, having been a Vbass user for many years now. That could be my 'all in one' solution, but I'll want to read through the manual first and check it all out as I don't have much dough at the moment. It has to be right! Failing that then a cheapy USB interface and iMovie sounds like a pretty suitable option for just having some fun. Cheers ped
You can definitely make some decent videos in iMovie, and it's basically a simplified version of Final Cut Pro. I use it to make all my videos. It's not too difficult to get the hang of. I made this video the way I described to you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_Gvoa5hips
 17.
Hi guys I've just got a new computer and I'd like to record some basic videos, playing along to tunes, for YouTube etc. So My computer is an iMac and my bass signal comes from a mixer via any one of the outputs (usually I use the headphone out) The new iMac doesn't have any audio inputs, so I presume I'm going to have to get a USB interface. What do people recommend? I have Final Cut Pro and iMovie etc for doing the editing so that should be OK, just want good sound quality and for a bit of fun really. I'll use the built in camera for recording the video... Cheerz ped
I use iMovie for my videos. Usually I DI my bass from the amp into a little interface, which then gets recorded in Garageband/Logic. The camera is the inbuilt camera in the MacBook Pro, and you can use it by opening iMovie and clicking the little camera symbol. Click record in both programmes and rock out! (If you want to also record yourself talking/singing, you'll need to ad a microphone into the equation).
 18.
Thought I'd better enlighten myself - Thanks Wikipedia "An oxymoron (plural oxymora or oxymorons) (from Greek ὀξύμωρον, "sharp dull") is a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms. Oxymora appear in a variety of contexts, including inadvertent errors such as ground pilot and literary oxymorons crafted to reveal a paradox." Ah,that's better.
Clean rotten. That's how I know what it is. It's just when something contradicts itself.
 19.
I think I deserve a prize for not actually killing them...
You are just angry at us because we have our youth
 20.
Oh okay never mind... Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me:(
I've put a fiver behind the bar for you and your mates
 21.
Thank you sir, I demand prizes for managing to not die yet
Me too, actually!
 22.
Pick me because it's my birthday
Ah, so it is! Happy 21st!
 23.
Pick me because it's my birthday
No it isn't... is it?
 24. Yay! (Is this good enough to win?)
 25.
Can I forward plan and make a request that wherever the bass is at the time , that I book it for the week between 8th - 15th July - I will arrange for a courier to pick it up and then send onto the next person. I have a gig that I may be able to get some local tv news to cover which would be great (DonnyBoy - I don't need it till then so if Falkirk is going to be on then its a case of speaking to Dale at BB Blackdog who still has the bass ) . Is that ok with everyone?
Fantastic! If you are interviewed on local news, make sure to give the Facebook page a plug! If the report gets posted online, we will share it too. Win win win
