Lets face it chaps, none of them are Brian Fox though are they?
 2. Great, you're back, I needn't have bought that VMP to make up for missing your Precisions.
 3.
Doesn't Parcelforce have an insurance limit of £150 for musical instruments? I seem to recall someone on here falling foul of that, maybe OBBM?
That's not what Mrs Miggins behind the counter told me, but she could well be wrong - I'll check the t&c's and come back if I can find the form... And yes, wrong forum - mod? EDIT: Ert, don't use Parcelforce -
Guitars and other musical instruments should be packaged in a hard case with sufficient internal packaging to ensure that the instrument cannot move during transit. Please note that if the instrument hard case is used as the external packaging then the case itself will be treated as packaging and not contents, as a result the case will not be covered for damage compensation. Any instrument strings should be loosened. Musical instruments will only be covered up to £150 of compensation for loss or damage.
4.
Am I missing something with ParcelForce's online quotes then? I take it Europe is significantly less expensive than Canada, which is coming back as £280 without any insurance!
A couple of years ago, I shipped a bass to Italy in a heavy old wooden flight case wrapped in cardboard and stuffed with bubblewrap for £90 via Parcelforce 24, insured for £600. It took 48h too get there so, I claimed and got a full refund. It arrived fine. Brucie. The other week, I shipped a bass to Beefy in Leeds double-boxed in cardboard for £30 via Parcellforce 24 again, insured for £500. The inner box was one of those one gets new basses in from a local shop & the outer box a flightcase box. All free areas were again stuffed with bubblewrap. It also arrived fine. Dropped them both off at the local Post Office as I am lucky enough to still have one. Got the quotes there too.
 5.
Thing is the brand of my car is TFL
Another vote for Claber's Compact then. Stupid light. And good with Kiwi's Shuttle too. Lightweight Wiki.
 6.
Well, I think it's a fab idea. The less knobs the better.
And quite simply the reason I will be trying one out again next week before pulling the trigger. Andyonbasses LH was just chipper through the 10.5's, by the way - cheers mate. I am bored of too many EQ / pre-amp options and now do it all from the bass, but hey - that's just me. I need to make room in my brain for more taxing decisions, such as which colour G&L to get.
 7. <scratches head and frowns>
 8. +1 for ParcelForce. Will insure instruments, do not need to be hard-cased, just well packed, I advise photos too. And a hard case if you are worried. £30 next day Brighton > Leeds for double boxed Jazz. £100 next day Brighton > Italy for flight-cased Aria. Both insured for £500.
 9. Cheers Steve-o, done. Or is that Dunn?
 10.
WHAT! You can buy a hobbit from a beardy bloke in Carlisle? ... Cheque please!
Chris Rea? <EDIT> Give or take a few miles.
 11. Vegas_hooker's link in the 'Effected Bass Players' thread gave me an idea - a thread dedicated to the gear of well-known bassists. Anyone in? I'll try to keep the index below up to date like what them Frenchy guitards do. If there's enough interest that is... Your starter for 10 is Trevor Dunn Trevor Dunn
 12.
Nice bass though and great price…just not my colour
No, not blue & white, eh? Right no. of strings for me though PS. Thank God it was Spurs yesterday...
 13. Top tip - don't buy that budget sh*te.
just saw this today http://www.gaffertape.com/
Flourescent gaffa - love it.
 14.
ha ha Your moniker and avatar suggest otherwise matey
Well flushed though!
 15.
Anyway, when's the next one of these? I'd like to have another go!
Next week anyone?
 16.
Great talk Alex and thanks very much for doing that for everybody!
Yeah!
I share that Shuttle GAS with you and also for Coasterbass's Eden Navigator set-up..
Yeah!
Didn't get to hear Andy's Hartke either so I'll just have to wait until next time
Unless someone just up the road buys one first, eh? Of course, the G&L or one of Alex's cabs might come first... Kidney anyone? - One careful owner...
 17.
Haha...I did see a few people dressed in morning suits and hats stop and peer in to see what the noise was. Their faces were a mix of confusion and slight disgust.
That was probably a reaction to me ogling the frippet mate, sorry.
Must admit, that Genz Benz Shuttle did look very cute... as did the little EBS MB2 and Alien Amp combo! It was good to see such diverse gear. There not many places in the UK you can go and find such a diverse collection of gear (with maybe the exception of the garden fence of doctor of the bass)
And I bet there were still less basses at the bash than on that fence we all love to hate. Right another new bass (G&L, GB, Vigier,...) as the new one is nearly a month old and needs a polish, or a new amp (EBS, Genz, Alien, Avalon, Ampeg...) with Claber's cabs? And bloody hell Kiwi, just how tall are you? Revised highlight of the day - learning that in spite of all these new-fangled 'guitar cleaners' on the market, Bernie G uses pledge. What does that say about marketing?
 18. Fantastic day all round. Next time I'll bring a shotgun, hold you all up & make off with all the gear. Too much gear & too many names to mention everything/one individually, but suffice to say - 'I'll have one of those, one of those, one of those & one of those to start with.' Star of the show? Quite possibly s_u_y's Alien power amp... Mucho thanks to Nick & Mert for sorting it all out and everyone who turned up from all over with all their kit. Lovely.
 19.
ok, I will make sure Ped has his beard trimmed and under control. His cleavage might be another matter though.
Sorry mate, no beards. EDIT: 12 hours to go.
 20. Lush mate.
 21. That's lovely that is.
 22.
Luddite. Precisions already have dots - that's why they need blocks!
Tea->screen, ta. You'll be telling me Ricks looks better with dots next and that's heresy.
 23.
Someone please buy this P bass....I don't have much money but I am very stupid and I will buy it
But snipe him at the last minute when he thinks he's won it.
 24. Yes. Well, no actually.
 25.
I keep trying to like singlecuts but the aesthetics jar with me. Which is a bit odd, because I've always liked the looks of Les Pauls.
+1, though Lowdown's single-cut in his avatar looks good, only one I've ever liked (apart from the Les Paul!)
