1.
I think it will be fairly good any way hartke generally is. I have a weird idea of doing the same thing as the bassist form aerosmith and getting two hartke ha3500 and running them through two 4 ohm 4x10's. pretty cool. Decent heads though.
If you can find one, get a HA7000 instead - same front end as a 3500, but with 2 power amps and a switchable crossover. That way, you'd only be carrying one amp around. I picked mine up from this very forum for a very good price. A

  3. 50K Ohms is a pretty unusual value - 47K is a standard value and will be more common, and probably a hell of a lot cheaper. Don't worry about the values being different, most pots have a tolerance of +/- 20%, and even good ones are rarely better than 10%, so that 3K difference won't matter. A
  4.
I simply strap it to my manservant
Well, just pop your 'manservant' on the table... [/Blackadder 2] A
  5. Just traded Martin a set of strings for a pickup - no problems, arrived quickly too. A
  6. There are a couple HERE that'd suit - both the Yamaha and the Ibanez are good, well put together instruments, and at £100 each you wouldn't lose much (if any) cash if you decide to sell. Spend the extra on a better amp. Andy
  7.
Oo er missus. My amp's got 4 EL34s so does this mean I have 4 medium sized nobs????????
And I bet your condoms fit like a glove Coat please... A
  8.
how come the speakers aren't dead centre?
To reduce the possibility of internal resonances, at a guess. A
  9. Just bought a Warwick pro-fet amp off Chris - good bit of kit at a great price, and a thoroughly nice chap to boot.
  10. The graphic EQ seems more suited to general purpose PA use than a dedicated bass amp. The 16kHz slider isn't going to do a lot, and 63Hz is a bit high for good control of the real lows. I'd have put a 32Hz band on the bottom and made 8kHz the highest band. Other than that, it looks pretty promising. A
  11.
Preferably like it if someone was to pick it up, but if you're within a 2 hour radius i dont mind driving it, although i would need a paypal payment and extra postage money (petrol..)
It'd help to know where you are so potential buyers know pickup/delivery distances A

Just bought a drum machine off Nick - good price, good condition and arrived in good time Well happy and would deal with him again no questions asked. A
  15.
Hey i have a set of alesis DM5 pro drums to sell. Bought them last year though i would learn drums over the summer but then when i moved to uni i couldn't really keep up with it, and so now decided to sell them on. I'm looking for about 150 pounds collected from Uttoxeter, inbetween Stoke on Trent and Derby, will use a courier at your expense if need be though. The 150 gets you the kit, as well as a crash course in drums book, few copies of rythm magazine, kick pedal, and two sets of nice sticks, not the the ones that come with the kit. Pictures will be up latter today. Cheers
Might well be interested in this. You mention the kick pedal - does it have the hihat pedal too? And is the DM5 drum module included in the price? A
  16. I've moved this to FX because you're more likely to get a response here. A

  18.
What is there stopping a 10" driver being made with equal excursion, surely its just a case of getting the right amount of cone suspension and a deeper voice coil arrangement.
In theory, nothing. Have a look at a 10" sub sometime. The problem is the width of the suspension - to have greater excursion you need a wider suspension, which in turn leaves less diameter for the pistonic cone area. If you figure on losing 2" off the diameter for the frame and the existing suspension, then a 10 is really an 8, and a 15 is really a 13. Lose another inch for wider suspension and the 10 becomes a 7, and the 15 becomes a 12. A
  19. I'll take the SR-16 if I may sir... email heading your way A
  20.
You have stated several times that one of your 1x15s will out perform a 4x10 excursion wise as apposed to thermal rating, which you say in someways is inconsiquential. Now my probably ignorant mind says 4x10 equals cone area of 40, 1 x 15 is cone area of 15 simple! (cant get into areas of circles etc but u get my drift) surely a 4x10 shares the input equally and therefore the excursion equally aswell and so they have to only work a quarter as hard with a given input therefore their excusion per driver is a quarter of a single driver, am i barking mad or what?
Areas of circles isn't critical when comparing one driver against another, but it is important to realise that you do need some kind of square measurement, since a speaker cone has a surface area (ie 2 dimensions, not just the 1 you've used). If you say that a 4x10 is equivalent to 10 x 10 x 4 = 400 and that a 1x15 is equivalent to 15 x 15 x 1 = 225 then you'd be on the right track. Thing is, you then need to bring in the third dimension (ie how much air the speakers move). Assuming the 10's you're using have an Xmax of 4mm (which is more than most of them have) then you're looking at a displacement of 10 x 10 x 4 x 4 = 1600 The 3015LF has an Xmax of 9.6mm, which gives you 15 x 15 x 9.6 x 1 = 2160. 3015LF wins, hands down. 21. Just spotted these on the ikeahacker site. Really simple idea, and makes some pretty smart looking desktop racks. There's some tasty kit in those photos too, including an AdrenaLinn 2 and a 10-string Stick. A
  22. Bought a power amp off me. No problems, sound fella. A
  23. Alternatively, you could make up a series box and plug two parallelled pairs in through that for an 8 Ohm load. Also, don't get too hung up about the power rating of the amp. The difference between 300W and 600W would be 3dB (less than that in the real world, due to power compression) which is a barely noticeable difference in practice. A
  24.
and how do you figure that?
OK, just went back and had a quick look at the charts and then did a bit of basic arithmetic. They should actually only be good for 140dB (oh, only 140...) but should be capable of doing that all the way down to 30Hz. I've based that on charts shown here A
  25.
IIRC Bill Fitmaurice suggests the Titans are best for live sound, and the Tubas are better for recorded sound - don't ask me why though! For a few dollars you can buy the Titan plans from Bill - I've got the plans for a Titan and it's quite an easy build.
Titans go a bit louder, Tubas go a bit lower. Mind you, when you get a stack of 6 with a kilowatt or so going through it, it all becomes a bit academic... A
