3. Bump!

5. Syb-5 sold. Post updated
6. I heard a great one the other day. Bloke had always wanted a les Paul (can't remember the model but it was worth about 2.5k) and he started with a black les Paul copy. It took him a few years but he kept trading up and adding a little cash but got there in the end! So keep you basses looking the same and you will be fine. Or go with the have so many she can't keep up method, you might have to take some stick to get there though
7. CEB-3 sold. Original post updated
8. I have a boss oc-2 and syb-5 and odb-3 if that's of any interest?
9. Hey guys, I have a chrome jazz bridge and a chrome jazz bridge cover taken off my, you guessed it fender made in Mexico jazz bass. Not really sure what these go for but does £10 each sound fair? Also have two 250k pots ill do for a fiver??
10. Bump
11. Are you after any trades?
12. Just out of idle curiosity, what is the string spacing on this? What is the nut width, and most importantly what is the neck thickness front to back? Also this may sound like a dumb question but is it active or passive? I think spector have the battery in the rear route cavity as opposed to a battery box. Cheers
13. Where to start..... Fernandes gravity 5 deluxe Warwick streamer stage 1 Sadowsky NYC 5 Music man stingray 4 and 5 Aria proii black and gold Matamp GT200 Ampeg Svt2 pro Ampeg 810 GAS is evil.....
14. To the OP, you should always play for the enjoyment. The irony is that if you do want to get paid, you need to be good. That take lots of HARD work and practice, which can some times be a bit of a chore. The band I am currently in was started just to do something "fun" but the fun part will be playing it live, so it a bit laborious at the moment. I don't see a problem with the two quotes you put up, neither one mentions money (although it could be inferred), but they both said thu want to play live. I can relate to this is a big way, I have been in 3 different bands in the last 18 months and not done a single gig yet!
15. Hey all having a bit of a pedal clear out as these are surplus to requirements at te moment. EHX Small Stone Nano in full working order, good condition but no box £30 If you are interested in pics please just ask but will try and get some up soon
16. Cheers pete, certainly cheaper than warmoth! Although I'm not sure i have the confidence to try.... 150 quid is a lot to blow if I get it wrong!!!
17. Can anyone recommend a timber supplier in the north west? Also anyone who has built a bass from scratch, could you give me a guideline on price for a swamp ash/maple jazz 5 string??
18.
There is nothing like playing a bass you made yourself ! Its not a cheap way of getting a bass though, just the hardware alone can match the price of a good 2nd hand bass.
That's what I'm beginning to realise. I think the best way is buy second hand bits but that means waiting until they come up. Pimping a squier is no good as I want a rear routed setup.
19. Hi all would love to hear your thoughts on this. I would really love a fernandes gravity 5 deluxe but are in short supply second hand, so started thinking about building something from bits myself. Thinking of a jazz bass v with emg/bartolini preamp but have done a quick search and it's not going to be cheap! Would like to hear your thoughts if you have done this yourself, and would you do it again or just by off the shelf??
20. Just had a look at the link to hmrc, and although i can get my mate to bring it back for me, it's probably not worth his hassle. If you can get a bass shipped and cleared duty/vat for about £100 it's not worth the agro. Atleast it would be covered by insurance the whole way! Unfortunately the bass is a neck through so breaking it down is out!
21. I hope it's you that has this listed on eBay or else someone has nicked your pics!
22.
Audioslave. What's not to like? Chris Cornell and Timmy C in the same band! Awesomes.
+1000000, Timmy C is a god
23.
Would Rush or Deep Purple qualify?
Yes on both fronts. Personally I would find it hard to express metal/rock bass lines in terms of being "groovy" due to the guitars being so heavily riff driven. It doesn't leave a lot of room for bass players to be too expressive, but two of the best examples (besides Geddy already mentioned) would be Cliff Burton from Metallica and Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. Both of those guys are/were very good at fitting a lot in to a small space
