I get the theory in that the two different size cones don't move/respond at same speeds, but if that so, why are there so many people using a 410+115 option? I am guessing if you were bi amped it wouldn't be a problem as you could eq to suit each cab?

Hi all, I am in the process of selling my current rig (orange terror bass 1000 and matamp 610) as I am looking I change my sound and what I play. I am looking to get Into a jazz/funk/disco type band in the future so I'm insure of how much I am going to need amp wise so could use some help. Was thinking of a gallien Krueger 1001eb with a 410 and 115, but would a markbass little mark and similar cab arrange by be enough grunt?

I do remember it well, even though I was playing guitar at the time. It was a brand new ('94 I think) red squier p bass with a black scratch plate. Played ok from memory, and sounded ok through the white Roland bass cube 30 we had!

[/quote] This is my problem also, it's hard to keep the work rate up knowing I won't be letting the side down by not learning stuff. I love playing, and have been working my ass off in bands for the last 18 months, I feel really flat and struggle to get excited about playing to be honest. Will survive this winter of discontent, working on my own playing and will emerge in the spring a better player.... At least that's the plan!

Hi Geoff, Yes it comes with the padded cover and handle, and the original 240v lead and speakon cable. I'd be interested in a Gallien Krueger 1001rb or possibly gk cabs, or maybe a us musicman sub 5. I hope this helps! Ill check the date tonight

Hi mate, good question! Ill see if I can date it tonight, it's never been a problem for me as I've not used the DI on it, and can't say the gain has been an issue either. Having a valve pre I would say this isn't hifi clear but it wasn't exceptionally growly at low gain settings if that makes sense.

PRICE DROPPED TO £450 FOR QUICK SALE BARGAINOUS!!!!! Hey guys n gals, posting this now before I change my mind as this is a tough decision. Up for grabs is my Matamp 610 cab, the only reason in selling this is my current band has fallen apart and I think it might be time for a change in sound. This rig sounds awesome and is LOUD! But considering the size of the cab it is pretty portable (fits in the boot of mondeo with the back seats just unclipped and fit in my insignia boot also) The cab is a sealed true 8 ohm cab, rated at 2400w and will take pretty much whatever you want to throw at it. I was ising this with an orange terror bass 1000 so Needless to say, this rig has never been pushed hard, it keeps up with a bloody loud drummer and guitarist with the gain and master pots at about 9 with the eq flat, so ive never needed to drive it too hard. ill finish by saying my band split up due to the singer having chronic tinnitus... Hey guys, up for sale is this Way Huge Swollen Pickle MkII. I bought this as I thought needed a second fuzz pedal, as it turns out I don't so it's out the door! This has been on my pedal board since I bought it and is in as new condition with box and all the bits that came with it like the 2 little badges. This is a massive sounding fuzz pedal, and it will be missed, if money was no object I would keep it but I need to move some gear on at the moment to pay for other things.... Please take this in the spirit it is intended, but this won't be the end of John. If the years of the hard rock n roll lifestyle couldn't see him off, this tough old bugger will send cancer packing! They make these British rockers from the old days out of stern stuff, to quote a line from the movie get him to the Greek "Ozzie Osborne will outlive Miley Cyrus"! Lets just hope it's true for Mr Mac too. I agree with everything mentioned before, I love fleetwood mac and John gives a text book example of what it means to be a bass player holding down the bottom end in a band, rock solid and tight on the drums. Sure there may well have been a fleetwood "insert bass players surname here" without John, but I doubt it could have been anything close what they have been. I think they are the greatest example of a pop/contemporary rock rhythm section, they are two halves of the same whole and made perfect for each other. Get well soon John, it's my dream to see fleetwood mac live!

GAS IS EVIL!!! I'm going through a similar problem, but going from valvey orange head to a super clean GK. Just not convinced, is hard to work out. I was thinking if hiring a gk head and cab from big fish and try it at our rehearsal space an see how it fits. Saves buying and selling!

Was thinking more of the 1001rb and a 410rbh and 115rbh, should give me fairly similar punch to what I have now. It has ironically just occurred to me that there are NO artists I like the sound of that use orange (ducking for cover of the Geddy brigade) and at least half a dozen who use GK. The only reason I went with orange was because I couldn't afford ampeg!

Not considered that jack, fair point. The orange has that slightly coloured valve sound and I love it for the stuff I've been playing. I'm just wondering if something a little more clean and hi fi might be better. I wouldn't turn my nose up to smaller lighter cabs either!

So I could use some advice here guys n gals. I have been playing hard rock/grunge/metal for ages now and absolutely love my current rig which is orange terror bass 1000 running through a matamp 610, it sounds HUGE! But as my last band has just imploded, I really want to get out and try something different and get into playing more mainstream stuff and some funk (chilli peppers and jamiroquai kinda vibe) so am considering trading my rig for something a little cleaner and better eq'ed so maybe GK or mark bass. I am looking at stingrays as I've always wanted one, and just concerned the baked in mid scoop that the terror bass is renowned for will take the sizzle out of the sound I want. Please help!!!

Let's face it, being sacked is never fun. I have just been sacked (of sorts) along with the drummer, and it was all done via email. It's not a straight forward situation I'm in but the irony is there wouldn't be a situation if everyone had just been honest. I don't think an email or a text is appropriate for anyone who has put in more than a few practices, and I understand people not wanting to do it face to face for fear of getting their head kicked in. A phone call I think is the most acceptable form of sacking, it isn't as good as in person but you atleast give the sackee the courtesy of an immediate rebuttal. Me, I'm dirty on how it's gone down, but to be honest I'm great full it's over, the other two have been doing my head in for weeks, now I'm off to bigger and better things. Don't get mad, get better and burn em!
