1. Has to be my Sei 7 (nicknamed "Jezebel").
2. Thought I'd better add my Sei to this thread. It's a maple and wenge thru-neck with ash wings and a walnut top. The ebony board has side blue LED's. Pickups are by Lightwave.
3. This is how 'Marv' (the Marvel Splatter bass came out). The actual material is quite thick and is really meant for car bonnets and so on.The flat area front and back are pretty easy to do, but horns and sides are a complete nightmare and I still haven't got it perfect. It does look a lot better than it did before though. I think I had a 1.3 metre square of the graphic which is a lot, but then you have to pick which part of the design you want to go where. A proper paint job (even a plain one) would have cost hundreds, but this was under £50. Be warned it's really frustrating if you're not artistic or used to handling this stuff (like me!).
4.
Fascinating, thanks for posting this!
Yup, thanks !!
5. If it plays the way you want and sounds the way you want then it doesn't matter what it looks like. If you can, play the ACG and if it does what you want then buy it !!
6. Same here !! Sold him my Yamaha RBX550M a while back. Would have no worries in dealing with him again
7. Swapped my bass with Binky_Bass. Comms by pm, text and phone were great throughout and he worked hard to make a trade which made sense to both sides. Can't praise his efforts highly enough and wouldn't have any problems at all dealing with him again in the future.
8. Yeah the bottom end really works on this. Difficult for me to describe, but it's a fretless with more of everything. Okay, there's always the mwah factor, and this has a huge amount of that, but this sounds has a lot of depth to it. I haven't played a bass with Lightwaves before but am mightily impressed. This bass has a sound completely different to my other fretlesses.
9. Thanks. It's a graphic wrap. A big sticker really.
10. Deal done. Can I please again thank everyone for their kind words on this thread. It really means a lot. Coping with an illness which has no cure and which has such debilitating symptoms gets tough both physically and mentally, so thanks for taking the time to type something on here. The 9 was exchanged for a Sei 6 fretless which doesn't cause me pain to play
11. Well after some dead ends, I finally managed to swap my ACG 9 string (which I was finding physically painful to play!) for a Sei fretless. Kudos goes to Binky_Bass for his great efforts above and boeyond the call of duty to complete this exchange. So here's the new addition to the sonic armoury! Sei Flamboyant 6 string fretless Spec: Construction: Neck through Neck: Maple/wenge Body: Ash wings with walnut top Fingerboard: Ebony. Unlined fretless with side dots with blue LEDS. Pickups: Lightwave. Controls: Volume, bass cut/boost, mid, mid cut-boost, ice tone (I think!) It plays effortlessly and has a large array of sounds. The bottom end is like a big pillow! Just a beautiful instrument which I'm extremely proud to own.
12. The pic made perfect sense and the bass now has some sound. Just needs strings and a new nut, which I'm cutting from a Micarta blank, and some new knobs. The old one's don't look great and don't fit the new pots anyway.
13. Thanks for the pictures, Ruck. I'll use it as a guide and report back.
14. Thanks for posting that. It's a shame that our 2 basses don't match. Here's the underside of my pickup. Ignore the loose red wire on the right. That was me trying to find out what goes where. Needless to say I didn't have much luck. If anyone can think of a solution, I'd be grateful for ideas.
15. Usually that would be the case, but with this pickup the 2 halves of the P pickup are connected outside the casing. Each half has 3 lugs. Thanks Horizontalste. I look forward to seeing the pic.
16. No that's OK. You're English is great ! No problems at all
17. Does anyone on here knows who owns the Lightwave fretless 6 which is at The Gallery at the moment ??
18. I've got a problem with my BB400 and I hope that someone can help me out. Under the pickup there are red and black wires which connect the 2 sides of the single P-style pickup. Can anyone please take a photo of the underside of the pickup so I can solder the wires back to the right connections. Here's hoping someone can help.
19. There's a deal in the works, so I'm withdrawing this from sale for the time being.
20. Trade abandoned. Cash price for the bass £2800 o.n.o. Feel free throw your trade ideas at me. First preference is Sei, but looking at basses of similar quality. 5 or 6 fretted or fretless !! Can I once again say how much I appreciate all the kind word that are on this thread. My illness means my life can be quite depressing and the comments are really uplifting. Thank you.
21. I'll have ask the other party before posting any more details here.
