1.
If you find it is there any way I could possibly get hold of a copy? I love Renaissance but have never seen it. PM me if necessary.
+1 Love Renaissance, I've have all their CDs but no DVD/Videos . A VERY underrated band and yes, Annie is a hot.
2.
Nice!! You really can't beat that classic look.
Thanks. I do like your 2 P-basses, I'm ooming and arring on whether to start on a 59 P-Bass next and as you say and I've experienced on my last build, it's getting the period parts at a reasonable price and avoiding imports If you can (duty). I was thinking of Olympic white with gold scratch plate and maple fretboard for my 59, but then I do like your fiesta red one but with a tort scratch plate (like Pino's).
3. Here's my Jamerson 62 tribute, all Fender parts apart from the body (alder) and scratch plate and all period correct, even the screws are all nickel. Couldn't afford an all parts neck so settled for a Mighty Mite one, so not 100% correct but plays and sounds fantastic especially with the La Bella flats.
4.
How much does this weigh?
4 Kg according to my bathroom scales
5. For me a 45 rpm single of "All The Young Dudes" by Mott The Hoople, I was/am a huge Mott fan and have all their singles on vinyl.
6. What a wonderful performance lots of emotion and that is what music is all about (and fun). This is one of those songs that always makes me reflect on my life and what has gone before. I can't understand why people are criticising it here (I do understand that not everyone likes it) let those who connect to it enjoy the moment without spoiling it for one reason or another. This song will be around a lot longer than any of us on here.
7. Think this is a set up for some free advertising? or do they video every customer who comes in to try the drums? Don't think it's a retake as they don't know her name. I think it is someone old rather then a younger person dressed up as you can tell by the flab on the arms. reading the comments on the site a few think it's a man dressed up, either way, nice bit of drumming though.
8. Welcome Tony, have fun.
9. [sub]Just bought another wiring kit from John, great guy to deal with, it turned up really quick and its a professional job as always[/sub] [sub]Cheers John[/sub]
10. JamesBass if you want to see my Alder P-Bass built, PM me and you can pop around and have a listen.
11. I recently bought an Alder P-bass body, it's reasonably light and along with some Vintage fender Pups it has a fantastic sound. Cheers
12.
+1 here.Good value and a good sound.
I have and use fender flats very nice and an excellent price if you shop around, Amazon sometimes do them for £15. But for me, LaBella's just have that nice bottom end that the fenders lack a little (to my ears anyway).
13. Love my LaBella Deep talkin' Flats (110 gauge), I even have sponge muting under the bridge cover to give that old school motown sound that I love. The sound gets better with age on flats.
14. got mine from here a few months back £38 including next day delivery http://www.electromusic.co.uk/La-Bella-0760M-1954-Original-Deep-Talkin-Flatwound-Bass-Strings-JAMERSON-52-110-FREE-DELIVERY.html
15. perhaps a light sanding with very fine paper 1800? just to even it up a bit then lacquer.
16.
@ Yepmop, (Or anyone else who can help) What kind of filler would I need to get in order to fill ikn the fret lines?? Thanx in advance for any info
Try this http://www.thegearpage.net/board/archive/index.php/t-974940.html lots of links in the thread. The one I did was about 32 years ago!!! and I just put wood filler in the gaps (it ws only a 67 fender Jazz - but those days there was no value in "old" guitars).
17. lazin' on a sunny afternoon type of bump.
18. Welcome and have fun
19. Cheaper option, fill in the frets with a filler then you have a fretless to learn on
