  5. My JMJ mustangs are pretty much my perfect bass; I have three of them, two blue and one black. I wasn't initially keen on the roadworn finish on the body but it has grown on me, however I might strip down one of the blue ones and get it refinished in nitro in a custom colour possibly with a light relic job. Not sure what colour to go for though, perhaps something unusual that makes it unique.
  6. I have a couple of basses with 'almost rosewood' looking fingerboards: one pau ferro, and the other indian laurel, both are a fair bit lighter than the nice dark rosewood boards on other basses I have. I'd like to darken them to look a bit more like brazillian rosewood. Usually an application of lemon (or mineral) oil can improve the appearance of a pale/dry rosewood board, but this was not as sucessful on pau ferro or indian laurel when I tried it. I've looked up info on this and found various conflicting instructions. It looks like the way to do this is to clean the board with naptha and apply a good coat of either wood dye, leather dye, or a mixure of lemon/mineral oil and either wood or leather dye. various products are mentioned, but there doesn't seem to be any concensus. I've seen the montypresso wax, but on the videos I've seen, it doesn't really seem to work as well as I would want it to. Who here has actually done this and can recommend any specific products and a method?

  12. In the heart of London’s bustling financial district, Tarquin toils away, gazing out of his office window at the birds soaring freely. Envious of their liberty, he yearns to become a pigeon. In an unexpected twist, he transforms into a colossal 12-foot pigeon—ironically, one that remains grounded. Now, with wings too heavy to lift, he continues his daily grind, navigating the corporate world as an oversized avian. lyrics:

  17. I can't see how the mechanism works on this, but I wonder whether it is in any way similar to the d'addario planet lock straps. I have one of those but never use it as the hard plastic against the strap button is really creaky and annoying. I use standard straps with rubbery strap blocks (or grolsch washers) on all of my guitars & basses.

  20. I used to have a Tokai '58 style Flying V but sold it a long time ago to get a vastly more practical Fender MIJ Tele Thinline. The V was a great looking guitar, so if I could get any guitar I'd go for the modern Gibson equivalent which has a list price of £9699. Out of the guitars I have, the one I probably play the most is my epiphone worn black casino, but if I want the sound of a strat my black vintera hardtail strat is as good as any strat I've played.
