  2. That analogy doesn't work - surely the precursor to bread would be some form of flatbread, rather than the individual ingredients?
  3. It looks sticky and/or smelly.
  4. A wipe with the right solvent should get rid of the scribbles
  5. The seller would undoubtebly had much higher bids if the bass didn't look so rusty dusty and sticky.
  6. For that price I'd still expect something to rest my thumb on
  7. that is correct — and on my modern starfire there’s a metal plate fixed to the body for these height adjustment screws to rest on
  8. The bridge design on this later evolved into the one used on Guild starfire, but where the later versions used four rosewood saddles, this should be a single long saddle held in place by the strings
  9. I have a set of Picato double ball stainless flats on my B2A. This set has been on the bass for well over over twenty years and still sound great but it looks like Picato have ceased production. I believe Picato also made Status Hotwires and looking at the Status website it seems double ball flats are all sold out. I don’t know whether Status are any closer to finding a new supplier. The only double ball flats listed on strings direct are LaBellas which cost an eye-watering £75! There used to be a clamp widget that works similar to a terminal block but fashioned from brass that enabled normal strings to be used on the b2a, however I recall hearing it was not recommended for flatwounds as it wasn’t possible to clamp onto them. Sorry I’ve not been any help - I hope you find something suitable.
  10. During the lockdown my chain is: Fingers or thumb (not slap) Status hotwire medium scale flatwounds Guild Starfire II bass (flamed maple ) Fender curly tweed cable Roland Microcube Bass RX
  11. There's a language selector dropdown thingy in the site header to translate it into 'English Simplified' aka 'US English' The vegan straps look tasty - I wonder how you cook them
  12. Dunno about that but the link shows that one person is asking that much money for one. I'd be surprised if anyone would be daft enough to part with £260 for it, but then again in 2016 I thought only the terminally daft would cast a vote for an orange reality show conman.
  13. Badges? We don't need no stinking badges. Unless they're JLP's Bass badges! https://bassthing.uk/product-category/badges/ free UK shipping for basschatters with the code BASSCHAT

Hi, JLP, I’m trying to order some badges but it won’t let me pay 🙂

Very taken with those sunburst neck-scarf thingies. Birthday approaching, I might have to treat myself.

  14. Most of these prove to me that less is indeed more.
  15. The only two iconic ones (not necessarily the best though) I can think of are mu tron iii ehx bass balls
  16. just to throw another option into the mix - my danelectro longhorn has an aluminium nut and instead of being glued it is held in with a screw.
  17. The tuners, neckplate and pickguard are right but I would expect a '76 Fender to have solid shaft pots and a ceramic disc capacitor. The blurb states that the neck isn't original. Can't tell from the pics whether the body, bridge or pickup are genuine.
  18. I bring a spare SM58 so if my bass amp breaks down I'll be able to sing the bass lines. Luckily the amp has never broken down as my singing is terrible.
  19. The line: "The new owner needs to know what this is and how to deal with it" Makes it sound like he's trying to rehome a pet komodo dragon.
  20. That's easy - Howard Grimes. I love the feel of all the stuff he played on at Hi
  21. I don't think I'll ever part with my cherry sunburst '81 Precision even though it weighs as much as a small planet. I bought it new in 1982 when I was 18 and worked all summer in bejams, hating every second I was there, to save up the £260 it cost from Rockbottom in Croydon.
  22. The fake serial number decal on the back of the headstock is a nice touch
