1. Sorry for that.... actually I was a bit caught by ebay-fever ànd I forgot to make the necessary calculating from pounds to euros (with a smaller difference compaired with a year ago). I also wished it would have pleased me more (I'm not to keen on throwing away money on basses which I don't use a lot) but as it is I get punished a bit since I paid more than I'm asking now. Luckily I didn't have to make financial sacrifices and this isn't the end of the world if it doesn't get sold but it would be nice to have something else which would inspire me more since that's what basses are supposed to do. This wasn't bought to pass through but unfortunately not everything has the right "yes"
2. Suffered from nostalgia a couple of weeks ago and suddenly this Status caught my eye on ebay.uk. Looking for some new sound which would inspire me a bit (and always having been a Mark King-fan) I bought this from a musicstore in the UK (fourfour.uk who gave me a great service and a comforting phone call for the record). I just have it for a week but although this is a great bass (and in a nearly new condition) it appeals less to me than I thought... My taste seems to have changed through the years and the graphite is less inspiring than I thought. I'm putting this back for sale... it comes with a Status-flight case Serial Number - ' 247 ' Year of Manufacture - 1987 Pickups - GMT Active Body / Neck - One piece Carbon fibre with natural carbon finish (Rob Green says it's one of the first he moulded himself) Really low action and a fast neck.. Case candy is included too with the necessary tools to use double ball or normal strings. A local pick-up is possible (near Brussels in Belgium) or this can also be send.. I have bought and sold a couple of basses here on bass-chat and I believe that my feedback should be ok. Asking for 1160 £ (which is less than I paid) (possible trades would be a Pedulla MVP4) I'm using the pictures from the ebay auction since I'm a lousy photographer (the one with the flightcase is obviously taken by me :-)) For any more information feel free to contact me.. Thanks Geert
3.
Having worked over 10 years of PLASA, Musikmesse and NAMM........ I now hate this bloody album....... oh and 'Hell Freezes Over'
I used to work in a music shop and everytime I had to listen to "Hell Freezes Over" :-) A couple of years ago I went to see The Brussels Jazz orchestra (with the very best of our musicians over here) and suddenly they announced a singer who did a cover of "The Goodbye Look"...great to hear that again. A great album indeed.
4. Went to see his show this weekend together with 35.000 other people... Bit disappointed, the sound wasn't too great, bass hardly audible and I wasn't blown away like I had expected. I missed magic and sweat and sex. Still amazed by his guitar-playing which is really excellent. Bandmembers weren't spectacular too, good musicians but not really as special as I thought they would be. I left during the encores...I like P-funk but when Prince plays I want it to be really special and it wasn't.
5. Has this one already been shown ?... one of the ultimate funk tracks for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXpa0Ef25XQ
6. Thanks for this mindblowing clip... really enjoyed it a lot, what a great bassplayer with one of my favourite drummers. Every now and then you encounter something which is "new" and this is one these moments.
7. Over here in Belgium you can get the cd for free also with a local newspaper (Prince is doing a gig here tomorrow and I'm going to see the show). The cd gets really good reviews around here (some musicians were asked to give their opinion and it seems to be a great album) and from what I've seen on youtube the liveshow seems to be fantastic.
8. What a great soundclip ! If that's you playing : great job, amazing feel ... good luck with the sale.
9.
Or was it Carole Kaye?
No, she played "Love Games" on the original Level 42-demo..
10. Whoever played it : I love that bass-line and the sound of that bass is just great, very lyrical playing and really loud in the mix. Whenever they play it on the radio (over here in Belgium not that often) I turn the radio up just because that bass-line is so powerful. So if I get it right, somebody from Lindisfarne played that bass ?
11. Just as I was thinking about how much money I was willing to spend, they ended the auction...it is no longer available. Quite a relief for my bank account.
12. These are amazing basses... actually a couple of months ago I had too many fretless basses and I had to decide between my Wal fretless, the Lefay and the Pedulla Buzz. , After trying out all of the basses I sold the Wal... that's how good the Pedulla is in my opinion. I bought mine here on BC and I am still thrilled by it. Good luck with the sale... if I hadn't one already this would surely be on my list.
13. Bought a Wal bass from Gary and he was kind enough to bring it along to Belgium during a visit ànd on a date which was really convenient for me. A man of the world and great to have a long chat with... Highly recommended, thanks Gary !
14. Found two long PSP-clips with excellent bass-playing and grooves by Pino Palladino, worth checking out by the fans. 15. I'm also going to donate... seems only fair that musicians help each other, it's but a small gesture towards someone who has given me inspiration and great times. I hope he'll keep on doing that...
16. Normally not my cup of tea but I like the atmosphere a lot.... tight groove and in general a piece of music played with intensity and dedication. Good musicians and the right sounds... You've put a lot of work in this. Well done , good luck with it.
17. Didn't know it was him playing the Harrison concert...great player indeed, thanks for the info.
18. Things go fast around here... posted this morning and I was already on the third page :-) Bump
19. I bought a fretless Pedulla Buzz here on bass-chat and it's an amazing bass. Because I liked it so much I have been looking for a fretted Pedulla MVP which I had never played in the past. I bought this one just recently but I don't get the "click" I'm looking for. I need a huge "Yes" if I want to keep a bass and I'm a bit spoiled. This is a lovely bass and I can see myself using it live but on the other hand .. now I 've bought another Wal bass this weekend and have some other great basses too, I know I won't be picking up this one when I've got choices to make. So I'm selling it back although I have it only since hardly two weeks. Good mid tones, nice slap-sound, full bass sound, bartolini pick-ups, PJ configuration, bass was made in 1988 serial number 21. I can deliver this with a gig bag. Prefer local pick-up but this can also be shipped. I'm asking 650 euros (which is less than I paid but so be it). Any more questions : feel free to email me Thanks Geert
20. Met Gary this weekend in Belgium at the coast... He was kind enough to bring this bass along. Really nice person to have a long chat with about basses and life. The instrument itself turns out to be absolutely marvelous. I knew Pro-basses were good (I've owned mostly MK I Wal basses) but I didn't know they were this good. It brings out the best in me which is about all you want from an instrument (cheap or expensive). Thanks !
21. Recently a local bass-player (Claude, also here on BC) bought a similar Pro bass sunburst and he let me play it...Though it sounds a bit different than my MKI model the typical Wal-ingredients were still there and I liked the solid feel ànd the looks. When this one popped up it was too hard to resist. Filip Moortgat, one of my favourite bass-players here in Belgium (and a big influence when I started playing bass) has also been playing a Pro Wal bass for more than 20 years and all these combined factors made me go on my knees again. Really pleased with this and looking forward to have one myself.
22. I was the one who send the first email when this bass appeared and the seller has been so kind to respect this.. Normally this bass is heading for Belgium this week (looking forward to it and thanks for the kind replies, Gary).
23. That's why I sold mine too : I didn't use it enough .. Let's also not forget that this bass without the midi-function is a great instrument on its own...
