1. Been using these two Bergantino AE212's for a while with the Epifani 902 amp... very light but really powerful. Each of those cabinets can be carried in one hand so really easy to handle... 900 W in 4ohms so the two connected with the Epifani and you have the full 1800 W. Haven't found better cabs since I own these.. 2. Just bought one yesterday and only played it at home so really curious about my upcoming gigs next weekend...think i'll just take a spare amp with me, you never know...Sounds great by the way, that Tec amp...really pleased with it and it fits into a gigbag.
3. Played the Dolphin today and it floored me again.. Ideas kept popping up and that's the best thing about a bass. Really crisp tones and a great sustain.. I'm never gonna sell it and that's a dangerous thing for me to state :-)
4. These Dolphins are great but seem a bit hard to find... like I said : a thick neck but the sounds are very inspiring.
5. Just traded a bass for this Warwick Dolphin... great but heavy bass with a rather thick neck. Put some new strings on it and it just invites you to play too much, sorry for that.. Bit of explanation in Dutch but there are enough sounds to be heard.. really fond of it ànd it's inspiring. 6. That's a relief.. now I have the feeling that I have saved money so I can buy something else ! :-)
7. I am not from the UK so to transfer the 20£ is already another step which I have to take...I don't have visa and starting the whole thing with an international money transfer is perhaps the only way to get the money where it belongs. I have bought and sold a lot of stuff here on bass.chat without any problems (people are great around here) but luckily my wild buying/selling days are over. When there is something I want to sell I try to sell it locally but in the past bass.chat was the place to be since there's an international community buying and selling around here which gave a super-boost.
8. Like the sound... don't like the hole... You can't slap on these basses too because the hole doesn't give you the support for your fingers, just for those who like the occasional pluck.
9.
Whether or not you like Elton John check out the fretless sound on Nikita. (not to mention the rather tasty girl playing the part in the video..... "tasty girl?".... I told you not to mention it).
Some strong vibrato but I have my doubts it's a fretless David Paton used...
10.
Mark king on the level 42 song 'autumn' 1978 jaydee series 1 'classic', both pickups on, tone up full, bass full, middle halfway and treble a hair over halfway.
Are you sure, doesn't sound like a Jaydee at all...I even thought he used a Precision at the time but I could be mistaken.
11. Always been a huge fan of those old Ibanez Musicians (from the time Adam Clayton and Sting used them) so recently got one of these... Around here in Belgium you can get these for around 300-400 euros (got mine for 300 ) and they just blow me away.. Believe me or not but I used to have an expensive Alembic Mark King and this cheap Ibanez reminds me of it everytime I pick it up... A wide range of sounds and the neck is a joy to play... it's one of the best basses I've ever had. Crappy video but it gives an impression... 12. Gary Tibbs on his Wal Bass... doesn't get much better than this imo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OfRZ63gLgI
13. [sub] Abbey Road.... [/sub]
14.
No guitarist. I believe he may have been in Elton John's band (?as MD?) for a while
I thought he played guitar on "Nikita" (with Dave Patton on bass)
15. Just bought a greatest hits-cd of Nik Kershaw and I didn't regret it...great songs with often great bass lines..I have two questions concerning his music : I remembered that Paul Westwood played that funky slap bass on "I won't let the sun go down". Anyone happens to know what kind of bass he used on that track (sounds a bit Wal-ish to me). Second question : I remembered that I was unable at the time to play "Gone to Pieces" (I just wasn't fast enough) but now as I hear it again I have my doubts if it isn't a programmed synth bass (on YT the live clips feature a synth bass).. Synth bass or not ?
16. I sold my fretless Lefay to Carlos and the transaction went just smoothly.. great to do "business" with him although it doesn't feel like that .. Thanks !
17. Just noticed there was another topic around the same time.. this one can be deleted.
18. He was a great bassplayer.. very solid and great bass-lines http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/trevor-bolder-dead-at-62/
19. Thanks .. I guess I drifted a bit away from the way George and Ringo would like to hear a bass :-)
20. The neck is actually a bit thick but I've got big hands so that's not really a problem.. I'm not used to playing five string anymore so I have some problem picking it up actually but every now and then I need a 5 for certain situations so I bought this one and I'm getting used to 5 a bit more.. Recorded this clip this morning to give an idea.. not the best sound through my recording device but it beats writing about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJeyHepwiys&feature=youtu.be

22. They are pretty similar actually.. the 5 sounds a bit "beafier" but the controls deliver the same crisp sound as my 4-string. Price/quality Sandberg gives the best there is imo.. Used them in all sorts of bands and they get the sound across.. That mid-boost makes sure you get the bass sound you want in any lousy sound situation. I sold my Wal bass and I thought I would regret it but I can get pretty much that same "nosy" sound from these basses.. This is my 4 string (you've got a good memory :-))
23. Bought this Sandberg 5 Custom here on bass.chat and still very pleased with it.. had Wal, Ken Smith, F bass in the past but this one easily reaches the same level of craftsmanship for a much lower price.. 24. The dance moves around 4'10"..... (never in my life)
25. I've got my busy sixteenth note-feel from him and that has changed my whole bass-style. I can listen to him in small doses.. I don't think I have ever been able to listen to an entire cd or record but I remain a fan. He's amongst the greats...
