1. This was my old faithful transition period Jazz Bass that I bought in 1966, date on neck 7APR 65, it was languishing in my wardrobe after I'd moved to 5 stringers, what amazed people was that I'd saved the chrome ware including the original screws. Although I miss it when I came back from Sheffield I'd paid off my mortgage with the proceeds. What I will say is that when fitted with an East J-retro active kit it was phenominal.
2. The rear of the body showing polythene still on electrics cover.
3.
If this bass has got the East J Retro then that immediately improves the overall sound about three hundred percent compared to the standard Fender preamp, which is indeed rubbish, for want of a better term, by comparison to this version . Those Wizard pickups are very beefy-sounding too, and highly sought-after nowadays. GLWTS.
Agree 101% I've fitted East J-Retro kits to several of my basses including a now sold 1965 fender Jazz Bass, I also agree that the electrics on active Fenders leave much to be desired.
4.
I love my L2500, such a versatile bass with great build quality. Good price on this one.
Thanks for that.
5.
Some pics would be nice JB65!
Not sure how to attach pics.
6. Price reduction G&L L2500 Bass for sale trade price £750. Very Good condition just the few very minor marks (2[sup]nd[/sup] owner) In 3 tone sunburst, Serial Number: - CLF33564, very little use, the polythene is still on the electronics cover. When I bought the Bass an East U-Retro 01 active kit had been fitted, I’ve had the bass taken back to the original actives but the kit priced at £195 comes free with the bass should the buyer want to experiment. An Hiscox hard case that was originally for a Trace Elliot/Status 'T' Bass I once owned is also included.
7. I use 135s on my 5 string basses but I always use a .055 instead of the.045s supplied for the G string, prior to this I always found that the standard .045s left the G string a bit thin and weak. I have a mid 60s Fender Catalogue which shows that their standard gauge G string was .054.
8. Can anyone post contact details for G&L USA please?
9. I'm puzzled by the screw holes in front of the Bridge.
10. I lost my mojo somewhere in the 80's. I bought one in Beal St Memphis Tennessee 1998.
11. I'm hoping to get over soon and hopefully have him fix the seized truss rod on my G&L L2500.
12. Got my 1965 fender Jazz Bass date spot on serial number L85004, I even kept all the hardware.
13. In 1999 I bought a Musicman Stingray 5 for £805 whilst on holiday in Nashville I took it back to the motel and put the neck in one suitcase and the body in the other.
14. Hi Can anyone give me an idea of how much I should expect for my mint condition G&L L2500?
15. The SG Range were just jumping on the bandwagon and had quite a few weaknesses. Look up Tutti Fruiti on You Tube by Little Richard and his band and at the right moment you'll see an early Gibson Violin Bass similar to Maccas Hofner bass.
16. I bought a Fender Jazz Bass new in 1966, the date on the neck was 7th Apr 65 apparently it was a transition period bass made from existing stock after CBS took over, the number on the neck plate was L85004. I got replies from all over the world when I sold it for £3500 around 8 years ago. I missed it having bought it new but I'd moved on to 5 stringers and it was languishing in me wordrobe.
17. The MkIV was probably the best Bass amp Peavey made, dated by some modern amps but I regreted selling.
18. You say Biamp in the info can you explain how?
