1. And sold. Thanks for the kind words everyone, and have a Merry Christmas!
2.
Lovely bass! And Kevin is a great chap to deal with. Win win
Thanks Chris, as are you Sir!
3.
Are there any sound samples of this bass? It would be great to hear how this baby sounds.
Good question Vic - my kit is in storage but I will try to get some samples posted over the next week.
4. For sale only: ACG Über ART Recurve 4, £2000 Location: Tonbridge, Kent With a heavy heart I'm having to put up my pride and joy in order to finish off our building works. For maximum irony all the photos are in the incomplete extension that this sale would fund...but at least the floor matches! More photos https://www.flickr.c...157661780372199 . Click on each photo to get a high resolution version. Bass details Maple burl top on white limba body, with Acrylic Resin Treatment (ART) in Aqua Blue 5 piece wenga neck with satin finish on back and maple pinstripe, and Luminlay markers ART Maple burl fingerboard in Aqua Blue Strung with DR Sunbeams 105 85 65 45 Pickups and electronics ACG DFM pre-amp (see http://www.acguitars...es/electronics/ ACG MC4 multi-coil pickups (see 'MC series pickups' at http://www.acguitars...basses/pickups/) Jack and XLR outputs History I am the original owner, although the bass was demoed at shows (and tried by a few Basschatters apparently!). Gigged 4 times and treated very carefully. Condition Full working order. Cosmetically no dings, marks etc. When I bought the bass, Alan reduced the price due to a small blemish in the finish in the red coloured section between the end of the neck and the neck pickup (see photos). This blemish was caused by some solvent coming through the finish from the acrylic impregnated top. It caused a film to appear on the finish which was easily wiped off and now appears to have stopped, and can only be seen with the bass held up to the light and at a specific angle. I also swapped the pole pieces and pickup mounts for 'gold' screws, following consultation with Alan and Kent Armstrong: the pole pieces are the same size M5 bolts but I sprayed the ends with gold paint (obviously not when they were in the bass!). The original black screws are included, there is no difference to the sound, just aesthetics, so you can choose. Comes with Original lockable Hiscox hard case, with a couple of marks but no dents Dunlop straplocks - I never put these on but they are included Luminlay LED torch Sound Amazing versatility from the two low-pass filter pickups with master blend, and the configurable lo-mid and mid/high boosts, plus pots to vary the amount of highs and mids. I've played Motown through to rock with quick on-stage adjustments of the pre. The XLR is useful too, and I used it as the input direct to a Crest CA9 power amp for a very pure signal. Payment etc. BACS transfer or cash on collection please. I will courier if we can mutually agree on a service that will be high quality and guarantee musical instruments, and I will pack very carefully. My feedback is in my signature. Try out You are very welcome to come and try out, I can provide amp and cabs or bring your own. The kettle is not always on, since that would be a major fire risk and hugely expensive, but I will happily make a brew once you're here... Finally... I'd like to say that Alan Cringean was excellent throughout the sales process and even if this particular ACG may not be for you I would strongly recommend his work and service.
5. Was messed around last week by Interparcel/UPS - delivery did not occur on the day stated, despite guaranteed premium service. But just to say, Interparcel were good and responsive on Twitter, which seems by far the best way to raise a customer complaint in public. Just state that the delivery is late and then they will get in touch via direct message so you don't share sensitive details. I was then phoned by UPS - had to put my foot down as they were a bit vague - and all was well. The packaging (by a fellow basschatter) was superb so the extra day in the van meant no ill effects!

Bought Chris's superb 79 Precision, a very easy transaction, made simpler by the excellent description. The packaging was outstanding too, highly recommended - cheers to a top chap!
7. Not helping my DB GAS!!! Very well played - and props for suit and tie, which should be mandatory
8.
Cool! I do like Indian food by the way… ;-)
Not quite curry, but one of my favourite ever meals was a Dutch Indonesian rijsttafel in Amsterdam - amazing variety! Back on topic: I stack my Baer ML112s as per photo 1 and it seems to give the best room coverage with a meaty low end. Can be a bit harder to hear the stack from the stage that way (we're a noisy 7-piece) so I run the high end through a wedge floor monitor.
9. Have a bump from a Puma 900 owner - packs a mighty punch and the taste control is all I tweak between songs, great stuff.
10. Thanks for all the tips! The "Funkifying the Clave" book looks great, cheers
11. I'm in a seven piece rock/blues/soul band, and we used a gear4music PA package to start with (about £500), and updated the mixer/power amp to a combined Behringer unit we got for a bargain price from Thomann (about £280). So: maybe consider starting basic and then upgrading, certainly the original package was fine for pubs.
12.
It's a new world for me and I'm loving wrapping my basslines around the various different feels he is creating.
That's the perfect phrase for it, 'wrapping around' rather than locking in to a 4/4 beat. Time to practice with a backing track when I'm home!
13. I'm on a business trip to Atlanta and went to a superb 'Mexican Tapas' bar with a live 6-piece last night. They played a superb set, and it struck me just how cleverly the salsa bass interacts with the rhythm (drums and congas in this case) - weaving in an out, starting and stopping with the odd Jaco-style run thrown in for good measure. Really makes me want to give it a go! Now to convince the blues band that we need 'a slight change in direction' PS it was advertised as live salsa, but my Mexican chum assured me it was a blend of Latino styles throughout the set. Great food and beer too!
14. That's a very good description from tonyclaret above, as a Puma 500 owner (and former Shuttle owner) I fully agree.

16. I ordered a replacement LED torch from the Japanese website, quick delivery and polite service FWIW.
17. Hi also from Kent, Tonbridge to be precise!
18. Hi GisserD, good to have you on board. Sounds like a mighty setup there, I'm sure if you crank it I will hear you in Kent!
19. Chris bought my Ashdown Pi, fast and friendly communications and payment, highly recommended . Cheers Chris! Kevin
20. Agreed, a picture would help! However there are now some more details: Walnut-coloured Alembic Orion bass guitar (custom-made, five-string fretless). Serial number:000W12501
21. Not mine, but has been reported on the Kent Police Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kentpolice/photos/a.10150785161915161.734082.213289350160/10155810016025161/?type=1&fref=nf
