  1. (Now sold elsewhere ) In full working condition with minor cosmetic nicks & scuffs as per photos. Superb limiter/compressor with lots of flexibility (including internal jumper switch configurations). Includes original box, manual and an 18V Dunlop PSU with up to 2A draw to ensure the Lundahl transformer is working at optimum. See the video for a great comparison with the Origin Effects Compact Bass. Acquired on Reverb recently but need to move it on to help pay for a new bike! Price includes UK tracked postage. For sale only, sorry no trades...
  2. I hadn't heard that version (possibly put off by Ferry's 'tache on the cover) - but as its my favourite song by anyone I just listened...loved it, an unexpected rework (😁) that sounds like the original in the style of In every dream home a heartache. Thanks for the tip Mick! I'm a big fan of the bass on all the early albums, Country Life has some cracking basslines from JG (Song for Europe, Mother of Pearl...)
  3. I just bought a gorgeous AVRI 63 P from Rob - excellent and rapid communication, very accommodating to my request for courier collection /delivery, and more than enough packaging to withstand a journey the length of the country! Much appreciated, many thanks Rob :)
  4. Another glowing recommendation to add to the list! Jason bought and collected my Fender P - fast payment, great comms throughout and a good banter on all things bass. Cheers!
  5. For sale only (no trades) Fender Player Precision in Tidepool Blue £550. Bought recently as backup but incoming premium P means it has to make way! Will miss the amazing colour, being a huge fan of blue basses (and the Mediterranean ;)). Looks fab with the maple fingerboard. Condition: Near mint. Has only left the house once for a worship set, probably less than 2 hours total playtime. Still has film protector on neckplate and pickguard. I can't find any marks/scratches/dings or other synoyms. Measurements: Nut: 1.625" (41.3 mm) Neck shape: modern "C" Radius: 9.5" (241 mm) Frets: 20 Weight: 3.7kg Delivery: these don"t come with a bag, but I have the double-box that Andertons sent it in. UK postage only though for that reason. I use Parcelforce as their depot is nearby, and can get a quote for any interested buyers (est. £15-20 for next day service). Collection: about 20 mins from M25 J5 near Tonbridge, Kent. The kettle is not always on - that would be both a terrible waste of energy and a fire hazard - but very happy to brew up on artival... 6. Definite fettling: all new screwholes and had to reshape the 'collar' of the pickguard where it meets the neck butt. But the pickups were aligned...at least until I changed my mind and put the old guard back on! Welcome Marsh and sorry to hear about the spinal injury, best wishes on that. I've gigged my BT for years and love it, especially the satin neck and ebony board (which I only recently realised is a slab profile!). Powerful growl and thump from the pickups, I've never felt a need to change them. Works beautifully with the stock Elite roundwounds and La Bella flats. Enjoy!
  7. A valid 'best of all time' list can only appear after time itself has ended. Which is a shame as nobody will have time to write it then.
  8. @henrywillard apologies for responding a mere two years later! PM sent and thanks for your reply
  9. @Owen , this has helped me for remote jamming in Zoom so may help in your situation - in Zoom settings: - Set "Suppress background noise to "Low" - Check the option "Show in-meeting option to enable "Original Sound" - Check the option "High-fidelity music mode" - Check the option "Stereo audio"
  10. Been transcribing my average fretless lines, so one day I can publish my meh mwahs.

  11. Very informative (and not just about recording!), thanks for posting. Having started playing double bass earlier this year I've recently started home recording, with a bridge-mounted DPA 4099 condenser. I like the mid/upper response but will add my SM57 in the 'low' position you demonstrated to boost the low end. The room itself seems critical too, my 3m x 3m square office is not ideal so I'll take the db for a walk around the house and see what different tones that results in. Thanks again!
  12. @dmc79 do you DI into the church PA? If so it's possible there's a compressor that can be applied to your channel at the mixing desk - may be worth checking. I've used Keeley and Markbass compressors before for non-PA situations for the reasons you give above.
  13. That control panel!! Along with the cannon connector, abalone inlays and tailpiece there's a lot of Alembic influence there (probably no surprise given the original owner).
  14. Indeed Mick! I'm still trying to nail Re-make/Re-model... some superb basslines on the early albums, and I need to listen more to Manifesto and beyond... That link in full: https://www.uncut.co.uk/features/people-drifted-off-bryan-ferry-on-roxy-music-s-many-bass-players-28139/
  15. Thin Lizzy, 'Life'. Slated for use of overdubs, and considered to be their worst live album, but I love it and prefer it to 'Live and dangerous'
  16. I've only been playing two months, but practicing scales to a reference piano scales recording - while not looking at the fingerboard at all - is helping. That's slowly but surely developing the muscle memory and training my ears. And the feeling of joy when finally nailing Eb (with its odyssey up the G) makes it worthwhile The next step is to start bowing, where your accuracy (or lack of!) becomes very apparent....especially to others in the household!
  17. Thank you both! I also heard back from Alan at J-Tone with similar advice so I'll give that a go.
  18. Thanks - definitely looks like grain at the ribs and the grain of the top continues over the shoulders.
  19. HI all, just picked up a 'J-Tone Black' pick-up. This fits into the bridge slots, but it looks like mine are too narrow, even when squeezing the pads. Any advice please, e.g. is it ok to sand the bridge slots to the point where it is a snug fit? Cheers!
  20. I've just acquired a secondhand "Andreas Zeller for Stentor" 3/4, it's my first db, and I'm having great fun with the discoverdoublebass beginner course. As far as I can tell it is one of these: https://www.stentor-music.com/brands/andreas-zeller/andreas-zeller-double-bass,-solid-63/ Forgive the simple question, but does "Carved solid spruce front; Solid maple back, sides and neck" make it a hybrid?
  21. SOLD Marleaux Consat Custom 6 Walnut EB 6 string bass, £2400£2215. I decided not to send it to a shop for a commission sale, but it is now on Reverb for £2400. I'd rather sell it here - and you get free postage (UK) EU buyers now welcome but will need to arrange courier pickup Maple body, walnut top, bolt-on maple neck, ebony (Dispoyros crassifolia) fingerboard, Dot inlays on fretboard, 24 frets, 34" scale. String spacing 18mm (I think this may be adjustable at the bridge but I've not tried). 2x Häussel pickups in wood housing, 3-band EQ, volume, pan, active/passive switch, three-way coil tap switch for each pickup (single/split/humbucker), black hardware, walnut headstock top incl. Marleaux gigbag and all case candy, including Allen keys and Thomann's professional photo of the bass. Made in Germany. Brought brand new from Thomann earlier this year. Near mint condition: I can't find any dings, dongs, scratches or other marks. My first 6 and a dream to adapt to with the 18mm spacing. Not gigged as such, but played at one church service, the low B was a delight through the PA - far more solid than most 5's I've played. Only selling because it's too getting too little use - I'll get a more modest 6 as I've loved learning some Bach pieces notated by Heiko Jung on his Marleaux Contra! Trial/collection welcome, I'm near Tonbridge about 20 mins from J5 M25. Free courier within UK, EU buyers welcome but will need to arrange courier pickup. Payment by BACS, or I can issue a PayPal invoice to Basschat members with a feedback history. Thanks for looking!
  22. Sunday's service with no drummer- songs at 7m45s and 56m. Kept it simple to help keep the beat; except for missing the ending of the last song with a gratuitous harmonic! Brought along an EBS Studio 30 combo for monitoring, worked a treat. https://tbc.jwpapp.com/m/YP6XgktL/the-woman-at-the-well-service-led-by-nicola-foot-and-neil-durling?list=ZvKJTIPy
  23. Good thing I'm out of vino or I'd be on this like a shot 🍷 Excellent Ps these and very versatile - Duck Dunn for sure but snarls with rounds. GLWS!
  24. I briefly had a Moollon P in the root beer sparkle: it's an amazing colour! GLWS
