1. All the Wounded Paw stuff is really high quality too.
 2.
Brilliant! Thanks hamfist! I'd want to use it with a P bass,so sounds ideal I'd imagine its the predecessor to the Mini 66? I'll have to check the finances, but I bet this will go soon
Its pretty much a mini 66 without the clean blend knob, but with a tone potentiometer instead of a 3 position cut switch. I compared this KNightfall directly to my new KNightfall 66 pedal with the clean on the 66 completely off. They sounded identical.
 3.
Hmmm, does it do low gain grit like a blueberry or solid gold beta?
With a pretty standard output passive P or J pickup it will easily do low gain. I can't remember the blueberry in detail but my memory of the SG Beta is that it is quite a squashy power tube-like OD and the KNightfall is not like that (which is why I like it). The Knightfall keeps its attack punchy and quick, whereas valve-like OD's lose the punchiness and speed of attack the more you OD them (to my ears). So, yes, will do similar OD levels but a very different quality of OD.
 4. SOLD The pedal I vowed I would never sell. And only for sale as this week I received my new Knightfall 66 (basically a double Knightfall pedal) from Tom at COG ! IMO, the Knightfall overdrive engine produces the most pleasing OD on bass guitar of any I have ever heard. Absolutely wonderful. The "Bass" mini switch gives you two options for pre-overdrive bass frequency levels. Here is a demo video of this actual pedal by me...... 5. probably .... the best amp ever built !
 6. nut is a narrow 43mm - I loved that when I tried one out !
 7.
What's the output level? Will it drive a power amp?
The manual says that the max power output from the 1/4" out is 13 dBV, or -2dBV from the balanced XLR out (which means little to me, but may help you in working out if it has enough gain to drive a power amp .... power amps also obviously differ in their input needs for max volume) I'm afraid that I do not currently have a dedicated power amp to test it out on.
 8.
Here you go. 19mm spacing at the bridge and a 43mm nut http://mayones.com/p...adrien-feraud-5 Actually the vid review says 18 mm bridge spacing and Bass Direct says 19 mm.
Congratulations sir, you have found one with the right neck specs, but at 2 and a half grand is beyond my humble means. Also still has those jazz-oriented pickups.
There's a very nice 34" 18mm Yamaha punching well above its weight here: https://www.facebook...568081053203517
Yes, the TRBX series are definitely on my radar, and I may well investigate this further. The only negative for me is the memories of the TRBX 504 I used to own. I absolutely adored the neck pickup on it, but the bridge pickup (and mix) left me underwhelmed at the time. My whole rig is different now of course so things may sound very different. I do need to get around to spending the time to go to a shop and play some more.
 9.
Alan - if you want to have a look at mine or a noodle around on it to see if it is a good fit you are welcome to pop down the A12/A130 if you have a spare half day sometime.
THanks Paul, I will bear your offer in mind.
 10. Sold Chris an amp. All went really smoothly. Quick payment from Chris, great comms. Top man !!
 11.
Mine is 43mm. Just checked, given that I got the last measurement wrong Most likely Stingray based 5s have, but this is a Sterling. Smaller, lighter bodies, narrower necks etc. It is the reason I got it.
THanks Paul, Looks like I'd need to get a specific measurement for any specific bass I was interested in. Sterling 5's are described online as having a 44.5mm nut (the ones I've found anyway), although obviosly many manufacturers have changed their specs over the years. .
You should try a bbne2. That preamp is so good, you can get pretty much any sound you want out of it.
It still can't do a Precision impression with those dastardly J pickups.
Ibanez BTB 5's have wider string spacing, balance well, feel really comfortable and are cheap as chips. Not much love for them but they're great basses.
Nut width waaaaaay to wide for me. Although I have always felt that for most folks the BTB's offered a lot of bass for your money though (actually I guess like most Ibbys). As you say there is not much love for them (which I think is due to image and marketing not any playing factors) so your money goes a long way
 12.
Sterling 5 would do it. Has a narrow neck but 18mm spacing at the bridge.
From what I can find online all Musicman 5's have a 45mm nut. Am I wrong ?
 13.
A BBNE2 would fit the requirements.
Alas another requirement for me would be either a precision/soapbar/humbucker pickup somewhere near the traditional P position. Twin J pickups cannot give me the sound(s) I am looking for.
 14.
I've a Cort Rithimic Jeff Berlin V. I was going to sell it (just because I thought I wanted a change) but in the end just couldn't. It's pretty perfect really. There's a couple on ebay (new) at the moment too.
I should have added that I love the Rhithimic V ergonomically but not the pickup positioning. Its not the sound for me I'm afraid.
 15. I know the Yammy BB series fit this description perfectly, but I just don't like the shape, the bodies are too big for me .... I'm not small but I'm not big either. The only other ones I know of are the TRBX series - a potential choice and the Cort Rhithimic 5 stringer. I've always struggled with wide nut widths on fivers and yet I was amazed at how easy playing the COrt RHithimic fiver was, in a shop. SO, I'm thinking of possibly flirting with a 5 stringer again, with that narrow 43mm nut and wider string spacing. And please remember folks that the usual slew of Ibby SR recommendations will be null and void ... they have 45mm nut widths.
 16. Deposit paid. SOLD pending final payment. Superb little preamp pedal. Includes a 3 band EQ with sweepable mids. Great DI XLR out also. Bought recently on here but finding I just don't need it, as the 12 band graphic on my amp does what I need. Only wanting what I paid for it which is £85 posted to you in mainland UK. The pedal is in excellent condition with just one scratch , by the input jack (pictured). 17.
How did you manage to do the bevel edge? "carefully", I guess
Yes, carefully, but by just using a wood block with sandpaper held at an angle. Really close up you can see that it is nowhere near as perfect as a machine produced edge, but its pretty good, and good enough for me. No-one would ever tell the difference from a yard away.
 18.
Flippin heck that's a bargain
THanks Merton !!
 19. Ilian bought a bass from me, which I couriered to him. Despite some courier fun and games actually getting the bass to him all was well. An easy deal. Thanks buddy.
 20. Yup, done loads. A Dremel is my tool of choice. - First, mark out (or trace) your outline on the back of the blank. - then cut out the shape with a few mm clearance using the dremel circular cutting tool - Then use the abrasive grit cylinder attchments to gently take the material back nearly to the level you want. - I always find it easier to finish off with various grades of sandpaper/ wet'n'dry paper. Something like 100-200 grit to get the basic shape (including the bevel) and then something like 400 then 600 to finish it off. - I have a large but fine toothed square-edged metal file which is very useful for finishing off the shape off non-bevelled bits like pickup holes and the neck slots. - For pickup holes when I'm "freestyling" it, I cut one hole in the scratchplate where I'm damned sure the pickup is, and then slowly, slowly enlarge the hole with the dremel, continually matching it up to the bass, until I've got a decent fit for the pickup, finishing up those edges with my big file. It all takes a while, but don't rush it and you will have something unique and special !
 21. Sounds like a really powerful pedal ideal for anyone still searching and seeking for that perfect drive sound. GLWTS
