watch out for a big fat taxi driver guy from falkirk who's just a bit rude. Seriously though, have someone else in the house bring the amp into the hall or some neutral room or something and then meet them there. Or hire a practice studio take it there (they can crank it then too) and do the deal there. I tend to make sure theres enough emails gone back and forth first that you can work out if they are ok or not, and agree the price and then you should be ok. (the fat guy from falkirk came over and offered me half the price I was selling it for as it was a bit battered (a 25 year old bass!) tried the hard bargain, he went home without the bass.... then decided to send me a stream of text messages with slightly upgraded offers in, by the time he got to prices I would have sold it at I was so annoyed at him I told him I was just going to give it to my brother... next day apologetic sorry and agreed to buy at my price - I made him come to my work (a coffee shop with a scary looking full sleeve metal head boss) ... any way he got it from me, had it on ebay at a higher price within 3 days )
Hmmm, I had a similar story with a fella from that neck of the woods, who was on holiday in Blackpool (not too far from me) who made contact via Gumtree. Tried to aggressively hassle me into a best price to collect the bass from me without any case / gigbag etc to make as cheap as possible. Then got very aggressive, very quickly via text when I said I couldn't deliver to Blackpool for the same price with the Hiscox Case added back in, within a couple of hours for the same price...... It was my daughters birthday party and I'd had a couple of shandies. Shandies = Brave juice so, I rang him and he said some silly things. There's good and bad all around but I would certainly say there are more g0b5hite5 on Gumtree than on here.

Love Meshell - one of the grooviest bassists around. Good, honest, first class bass playing.
Jeez, that is just SO well put Peter!!
Agreed - as a wise man once said to me - most of us on here are certifiable! -
In the right context...... I quite like slap I quite like Heavy Stuff I quite like Korn ...I do not like the slap stuff in Korn's music - at all! I also think slap is a poor name for it, surely there is a better name than 'slap'.

Peavey BAM 210 gets my vote for the best. A tad big and cumbersome but very very good. (How's the Ray?)

Crikey - didn't see that coming Mr EAD.

What has happened to BC bass guitar prices?
bagsieblue replied to Flex's topic in General Discussion
What value somebody 'wants' to achieve is down to the seller. What value somebody 'wants' to pay is down to the buyer. Any crossover in these figures should then mean people can strike a deal. A bit of ‘pricing architecture’ can help here for both the seller and the buyer. I’ve put items up for sale at, say, £550 wanting to achieve £500 with offers but none at £500. I’ve then relisted at, say, £600 – still wanting to achieve £500, offers have then been made at £500. I’ve done this on a number of things recently from basses, amps and even a car – no interest at around the price I had advertised, hiked the price on the advert and sold for what I wanted fairly quickly. I think people see a sales price and subconsciously think that they need to get x amount off that. -
...they have is the one currently in their hands? Even when A/B ing basses I always prefer the one I'm currently playing rather than the other.....until I swap!

Yep, out of all the basses I've had or have, the best bass I have is the one in my hands at any particular time.
Spot on. Both my basses are out at about 60% of new price. Still not selling mind . My last two have sold elsewhere, but as yet are not advertised there. Basschat is still always my first call. Surprisingly, social media is my second call now.
Karl- what is this social media of which you speak?, here be dragons?? For a non Facebook, shy, private, distinctly average bass player am I missing that there is a whole new world over the hill?? -

bagsieblue replied to bagsieblue's topic in General Discussion
Have to say I don't know what DAW is! Bass goes through a practice amp. I 'think' I'm fine with that - no immediate need to plug into the PC/Laptop/Tablet etc - unless I am greatly missing out on something by not doing so. I basically stream tuition vids, backing tracks and pull up sheet music. Probably the couple of things that I do the most are flip between a pdf of charts / dots (I'm trying to avoid TAB) and playing the music either on the device or streamed. -
Did a bass trade with Simon. The guy is a gent - hassle free transaction from start to finish. Plenty of open and honest communication. Did the deal in a layby off the M6. Simon did the lion's share of the journey as I was pushed for time so credit to him for that. A pleasure from start to finish. Thanks again Simon.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to be talked out of an iPad but the recommendation seem quite strong.
