1. Bump with a price drop!
2. The SFT definitely has a smoother more natural break-up than the others you listed. I have two of em that sound totally different though, the original one with the big white knobs rolls off a lot more treble but sounds a lot fatter in the low mids. The newer one has deeper lows, more treble and upper-mids growl. It also sounds different run at 18v so be sure to try that out if you get one too. For only £23.89 though, it'd be rude not to try out the Harley Benton Ultimate Drive first. Listen to the clip here to see how good it sounds on bass, it's a clone of the Fulltone OCD. Have you tried the VT Bass? If not, you should.
3. As the man said:
Good luck getting hold of ANY of those for £30-40! ...
4. He also posted a comparison between the Blueberry and the OFD: https://soundcloud.c...0/bbbodvsofd-01 Also general overdrive sounds here: https://soundcloud.com/johnk_10/ofd-overdrivesettings I agree the analog pedal sounds better in both cases, but the OFD does get pretty darn close, and is much more versatile. As much as I like it, I might be moving mine on soon, since I really just use my SFT and TAFM and it can't quite nail those sounds.
5. He has plenty more clips on his soundcloud that aren't on that site too, they tend to be posted in random Talkbass threads. Good thing is he tends to play the same lines with the same gear, which really helps.
6. Also, the RunOffGroove Ginger I mentioned is a DIY schematic that you could build within budget if you're up for the challenge! http://www.runoffgro...com/ginger.html https://soundcloud.com/johnk_10/ginger-wav
7. Aha, didn't spot that! In that case check out some of these: Joyo / Harley Benton Ultimate Drive £23.89! http://www.thomann.d...imate_drive.htm (what the heck, I am gonna order one of these myself!) 8. I wouldn't recommend either of those pedals for mild drive. Whilst it they can do it to a degree, they both excel at high gain fuzz more than light overdrive. I use a Catalinbread SFT for this purpose, although I'm interested in picking up a ZVex Basstortion, Fairfield Barbershop, Wampler Euphoria, Cusack Screamer, RunOffGroove Ginger, or Barber Direct Drive. This site is a good resource for clips also, this dude has owned/built nearly every overdrive pedal going! http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/Overdrive-Pedals.html A lot of those pedals can be hard to come by over here, but if you order from somewhere like Prymaxe in the US, they always have 15% discount codes and cheap shipping to the UK.
9. Brand new, never fitted Badass V. The packet has been opened however. I bought this ages ago with the intention of fitting it to my BB415, but in the end I upgraded to a BB1025X with it's funky 45 degree string through bridge, making this one redundant. [s]£75 posted[/s] SOLD!
10. Tech21 Oxford - SOLD
11. What pickups did JJ use though? Probably original Fender? If so, that would be what you need!
12. If the function band circuit is your thing... Primary Function Vital Function Bodily Function Function Junction Funk Shun Dis Function Dysfunctional Family
13. Our Ste's from Manchester. Why is this bass still here?!
14. Thanks for taking one for the team! I had one of the old Pandoras, used to hiss like a knackered old tape deck except there was no Dolby button to save the day. Looks like they've just reused the old innards rather than re-engineer the thing!
15. I think this pedal has some great low gain sounds in it, shame he only demoed it maxed out. He tends to do that on most pedal demos too, just turns all the knobs to 11!
16. New (and not very good) demo by Juan Alderette! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umOajn_3Z7I
17.
I wonder about the woman who was taking a placebo and then tried to buy one at the health food shop. Did she actually understand what a placebo is?
Not seen the programme yet, but hopefully they just pointed her towards the homeopathic remedies!
18.
Would a cheap compressor take care of the hum? may be a ton cheaper than new pups
No, if anything it would amplify background noise and make it worse!
19. Very nice! The Fender logoed ones are the rarest of the bunch.
20.
100% the TFR is special - though is not in stock at prymaxe in the states either, but they always have a discount code, and it's cheaper (even with tax) to buy FX from that store that via UK dealers, at least in my experience!!
And *cough* you probably won't get any customs charges ordering from them!
21. I assume it was this one that ended today? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-JV-57-precision-rare-first-series-/171240590482
22. Keep an eye out for items that end just before payday, in the middle of a workday, with local pickup only, and you shall get a bargain!
23. Was watching it - £641 Is a very good price for a first series with the Fender logo in such good nick! I was also watching a couple of other basses not far from me that I didn't bid on - a Classic 50's P went for £281 and a Roadworn for £485!
24. I recommend the Status half-rounds for fretless, smooth as flats but with a bit more bite to them, cheap too!
25. Yes! Or just get the Mojo Hand BMP-1 from the classifieds if it's still available, which is pretty much the same thing.
