  1. I've recently rediscovered my love for Warwick basses after years of playing fender type instruments. I have a 97 Corvette 5 string with EMGs, a 2001(?) Thumb Bolt on fretless and a recently required 2000 Streamer Stage 1 with EMGs and Aguilar OBP-2. The Corvette 5 I would say is probably the best made of the lot of them, with the wenge neck and plays very nicely but is very heavy. It also has the thicker tone of the three. I would says I prefer the EMG pickups over the MEC stuff - to me it just sounds a bit more solid in the low end and liver - probably finds a middle ground between the Spector and Warwick in terms of tone You can probably pickup up a German made 90s Warwick Corvette for not too much money. I've never played a Spector tho I was tempted by one when getting my streamer. Both companies no doubt make great basses but owning that Corvette for 20+ years and it never letting me down and still looking and playing well despite touring it heavily in the early 2000s made me stick with Warwick.
  2. I had the Henry Thomas/Rock School bass VHS that my mum had bought me from Virgin Megastore the same day my parents bought me my first bass at the age of 10. I loved that tape, tho I can't remember much of it now I do still remember some of the warm and basic finger exercises from it. This must've been back in '95. It's amazing the life long relationship you can have with an instrument and that tape definitely helped point me in the right direction.

    Dubs Feedback.

Just bought Ben's Streamer Stage 1. Good communication and very patient, as it took me a little while to find myself at a computer to pay for the bass! He did an excellent job packaging the bass up for me to survive the UPS delivery, waited all day in for them to pick the bass up and did it all with a broken wrist! The bass was as described and would happily buy from him again.
  4. Strange I never get DPD showing on interparcel. I would've used eurosender before when it was 24hr delivery insured for about £27 but since Covid-19 I think they've started to take the fosters and have had some bad reviews on here lately, when it comes to customer service. Didn't want to risk the bass taking 3-7 days hanging around warehouses.. it's bad enough as it is, we recently had a delivery that never showed up on the day it should've and didn't until 2 weeks later... Experienced similar things happen at my current job to. I've gone for using UPS through Transglobal express where I was able to insure the value of the bases for £18 on top of delivery... Can to about £44 to deliver to work. I'll see how that works out and update you on here! It seems a lot of people are having issues getting suitable couriers or a decent level of service currently. I don't understand why eurosender etc can use DPD yet booking it on as a general member of the population you can't due to size restrictions. I wonder if basschat could get a commercial account with somebody like DPD, work out how many instruments are shipped via the market place sales per week/month and offer it as an option... I don't know how realistic that would be, if it would mean somebody on the basschat actually having to sit and book the orders on I can't see happening haha, I'm sure they have enough on their plate!
  5. Oh really - when i put the dimensions on DPD it either lists no available services or doens't let me book anything due to the size!
  6. Think I'll try UPS and hope for the best! I would like to use DPD as the drivers who usually deliver to where I'm currently working take care of our parcels and stack the vans sensibly - but it's dimensions are too long! If only basschat could get a deal with DPD or UPS that would be amazing!
  7. Portsmouth to Cardiff. In ordinary circumstances I would jump in the car and drive down but we are currently being held prisoner in Wales... That's what it's starting to feel like anyway and we can't go further than 5 miles from our homes lol
  8. Hi, Yes it's in a gator Hardcase. Just spoke to the seller and he's covered the case with cardboard so should be fine to use UPS. I'll try Eurosender again tho I won't hold my breath, got quoted €200 or there aboytathe other day for 24hr delivery
  9. Yes UPS will deliver it in terms of dimensions but they now insist the instrument is in a cardboard box otherwise extra handling fees etc are added or they can refuse to collect it
  10. Hi, Spent hours today looking for a courier to ship a Warwick Streamer I've bought on the marketplace. Was set to use DHL but I've just realised that the dimension are a maximum 120cm and the case/packaging is 128cm! I've done the usual interparcel etc but the only services i'm getting are parcelforce (dont really want to use them as no insurance at all and bad previous experiences) fed and ups who both say that items being sent must be in a cardboard box or jiffy bag!? Any help, suggestions or ideas appreciated. are DHL going to know that the case is 8 cm over their required dimensions?! I could use eurosender but the only affordable option lists shipping taking at 3-7days and I dont want the bass hanging about in a warehouse!
  11. Are you guys Choosing 3-7 day shipping or 24 hour ? Is 3-7 day actually faster than that?
  12. How did you get eurosender for £29? I was thinking about dpd but when I was getting a price they say they won't accept parcels over 120cm long. Currently looking at DHL for insurance and delivery. Sorry for hijacking this thread
  13. My girlfriends dad plays in a band called the Rocking Good Knights or something like that down in North Devon. There seems to be a lot of small pubs and places to play down there and he seems to gig fairly often. Lots of open mic nights too apparently, though I would rather cut my ears off than listen to some "singer songwriter's" folk-prog 10minute acoustic epic, personally.
  14. Yep, pre lockdown I used them it was fine. Selecting package/suitcase, doing everything as before and still awfully expensive.
  15. Has anyone else noticed eurosender are quoting ridiculous prices for shipping at the moment. I was quoted €600 for shipping an amp and €200 for a bass the last couple of weeks. I even asked them why it was so expensive and they said that's just the price.... So I pointed out I could use DPD directly for far less. I don't know where the logic is in their pricing but I certainly won't bother again with them!
  16. Ha. This bass used to belong to me and was built for me by FGN when I was on their artist roster. It is a great bass!
  17. Toured with the Orange AD200B and 8x10 for years and was an incredible amp. My favourite of all classic valve amps. The eq did very little but you could get very nice glassy clean tones and full on overdriven tones. Great amp. Always felt it was quite midrange focused especially when used with an ampeg classic 8x10. It sounded deeper with the matching orange 8x10 Ran a sansamp live but one show the sound guy did take 3 feeds... Sansamp, slave out and mic on cab.. I sold it after getting an Eden deal, which was a huge mistake as the WTP600 was a total dog of an amp.
  18. Isn't this essentially just the Hartke HA amp design in a mark bass enclosure.. I may be wrong and there may be tweaks to the design but the graphic and mixing of the tube and solid state pres is very Hartke.
  19. Sold this today on eBay only for me to find out that I had the bass listed with click and collect which was the only way the buyer could get the bass, and eBay now refuses to accept items over a certain length for click and collect. So .... Back for sale!!
  20. ESP LTD B-405SM 5 string thru-neck bass for sale in excellent condition! Not to be confused with the lesser Indonesian B-205 model! Made in Korea, these basses are amazing quality and value with a lot of features you would usually find in high end or custom shop basses. The bass has been well looked after and there are only a few slight dings (highlighted in the photos) in the other wise perfect satin finish. Very little sign of playing wear on the bass...the plastic is still on the control and battery plates and is fitted with a new 9V battery. The bass has recently been set-up with a low action, brand new stainless steel round wound strings along with a fret polish and it feels amazing to play. The B string sounds very full and tight, even further up the fret board and overall the bass is very resonant acoustically which is well represented by the basses electronics. The bass features a swamp ash body with a beautiful, carved spalted maple top with a nice flame running through it. The neck-through body construction features a 5 piece maple/walnut neck with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot inlays and 12th fret block inlay. The head stock also has a matched piece of spalted maple. The hardware is exceptional quality, finished in black nickel. The machine heads are made by Grover and are incredibly smooth and precise. The bridge is an ESP BB-605 with string-thru body or top loading functionality. The bass is loaded with two EMG pickups (EMG 40P5 Neck/EMG 40DC Bridge) and an EMG B-64 3 band EQ (boost and cut) with a master volume control and pickup blend control. With the preamp set flat the bass sounds very warm and clear with a range of tones available by simply adjusting the pickup blend pot. The 3 band EQ adds further to the basses versatility. From very clear, modern and detailed hi-fi tones all the way to warmer, darker tones the bass is great for all types of music. It sounds amazing using the back pickup with some overdrive. All electronics has been serviced, cleaned and are fully working and noiseless. This is a great bass, ideal for somebody thinking about moving over to 5 strings or as a back up bass that still looks and sounds amazing... or even as a main bass! The build quality, tone and feel of the bass is superb. The bass comes with an excellent condition high quality Ibanez hardcase with a red velvet inlay which the bass fits into perfectly. Local collection in Cardiff but happy to ship the bass in the UK also. £450 plus P&P fully insured. Will consider offers. No trades, sorry! Any questions please drop me a message. Welcome to try the bass out! Just to reiterate this is not the B-205.. that is an Indonesian made, bolt on model that does not have the EMG pre and pickups, Grover hardware, rosewood fingerboard or swamp ash body.
  21. I really laid into my bass at a wedding gig of all things over the weekend but Reidmar was growling away the more I pushed it, engaging the compressor and making the clip light ever so slightly blink. Love this amp.
