1. They show them to you in £ on the website, but they charge you the equivalent in € on your credit card.
2. Needless to say, we want to see photos of absolutely every stage, Tom! Sounds awesome
3. Yup, still a good credit card to have for Europe (it does charge you more for using it outside of Europe though).
4. True, but I think you can get forms to fill and then get the maths - and any refund - sorted at Customs.
5.
looking at the cover of BGM on the LBGS website, is it just me, or do Dave Swift and Jack look more alike as time goes by?!?
Let's see which one of them is first to be mistaken for the other, then. It's bound to happen, right?
6. LOL true, no extra taxes when buying from Europe. Am I correct in believing that, in theory, you could get their VAT off the price and re-pay VAT on arrival of the bass in the UK, but that would only be worth the hassle if their VAT percentage was a lot higher than ours. Keep an eye on the Sterling to Euro exchange rate and buy at the best moment, if you can keep your GAS under control
7. Anyone mentioned Stingray5 (Steve)'s prog outfit, Landmarq? We saw them recently at the Peel in Kingston and I'm still in awe of their musicianship. Oh, and the songs aren't bad either! http://landmarq.net/home.htm
8. I am so going to make sure I see you at some point, Steve. And there are also proggy masterclasses to entice you http://www.londonbassguitarshow.com/masterclass/colin-edwin-of-porcupine-tree-and-lorenzo-feliciati/
9. Haha!! Loving this thread
10. I'll make sure not to spend all of my time in the BC corner - we'll probably have timeslots like last year - and instead also walk round to say hi to all you guys working or performing at other stands. All hail the Brotherhood of Bass
11. Good to hear that at least some of the lefty stuff is moving. Well done guys, now I hope someone falls in love with the more expensive models for sale in the other Lefty for Sale threads
12. I am a member of a FB group for pub and function bands, and one fellow member is looking for a bassist. Here is his ad - if you're interested, reply or PM me and I'll put you in touch. Thanks
Mark Townsend Looking for a bass player, capable of playing some Funk, RnB & soul - not expecting Mark King but a good solid player with a good groove, good equipment and transport, gigs waiting, Eastbourne and surrounding areas, Cheers Mark
13. First Dogs gig of 2014 at the George IV, Chiswick: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluejay_my_photos/12030191865/in/set-72157639923752176

15. Bump! It's tonight!
16. Well the intro to this section does say "Bassists looking for HOT ACTION near you!"
17. The Dogs' 2014 World Tour starts on their Chiswick doorstep this Friday - The George, 9pm. Come along if you're around!
18. Master of Tardis The Number of the Tardis Welcome to the Tardis....
19. Getting better and better, Andy. Fantastic
20. You won't need a tardis now - title edited
21. Thank you guys, I really appreciate your compliments, but I'd rather pass on this, really.
22. Believe it or not, some of us never planned to play live, be it Donington, our local or a jam session in a friend's living room, when we picked up a bass for the first time. Some of us love working out basslines by ear - while at the same time discovering and analysing the structure of the song, and opening it like a little box of fascinating tricks. Once we've done that, we play along to it until we get it right/can't get it wrong, then punch the air and go "Yess!". Repeat ad infinitum, or for as long as fingers and ears keep functioning
23. Excellent! I hope I'm wrong and there is no age limit in his mind, and that that's a cool project. Keep us posted, Sarah PS, no you're not non-photogenic.
24. Nah, I'm not a DB player after all - never had the honour of meeting a lefty DB so far. And the guy's probably looking for a photogenic 20-something anyway.
25. A female double bass player for a photography assignment? To be a model, to be a photographer, or to be portrayed while playing? Would be curious but can't apply, as i'm upright-rich but double-bass poor...
