1. First semi-acoustic gig at The Rocket, Acton - an absolute hoot, went down a storm, and we discovered that the audience can really get into it even when they choose not to dance! https://flic.kr/s/aHskacHKXP
2.
So, basically, it's group socialising... which is HORRIBLE anyway and to be avoided at all costs. Seriously though, if people enjoy it then good for them... I was mainly curious as kept seeing posts advertising them but the Events forum doesn't have any information either as a sticky or in the OPs of the threads. It's just sort of assumed people would know what to expect.
Ye man of little faith, do peruse the first link in my signature...
3. Tweeted. Hope he recovers all his gear.
4. Facebook event created! Look 'ere: https://www.facebook.com/events/836470886401425/
5.
I'm gonna be pedantic and say that the Lakland is actually a D,Lakin bass. There, I feel much better now!!
LOL I stand corrected
6. Easter break - what can be better than looking at a lot of gorgeous basses while the weather outside is cold, wet and miserable? This bass was the first to get our attention, predictably. The twisty-fanned-fretty wotsity thingummy... Happy Jack goes hmmm... Machines prefers to try a gorgeous Warwick Thumb instead It's then the LaBella bass's turn for Happy Jack Mark, Matt and Jack with a D-Lakin And then the pleasure board comes into play (ooo errrr...) "Hmmm, do I like this Mike Lull Thunderbird or do I, er, like it a little less?" Sounds good, mate... Meanwhile, a lefty customer tries the board while playing his own bass. (We didn't catch your name! Hope you read this and say hi.)
7. Good stuff! I'm moving this to Share Your Music under Recording, which is its natural home
8. Forgot to mention another big thanks to Dash (Kathryn) for giving me her lefty acoustic bass which I still have and play!
9. Looks good from here...
10. I'll add my big thanks to CamdenRob for giving me his 5-bass stand (currently in use in our living room, holding three lefties and one righty!), and to Bartelby for sending me those tiny, precious bits of Warwick hardware to finish repairing my Corvette's bridge (http://basschat.co.uk/topic/255630-fixing-a-dodgy-bridge-on-a-2010-korean-warwick-corvette-pro/). Both totally FOC. As Bilbo says, I'm doing my best to pay it forward where possible.
11. And... that video https://youtu.be/YK_SRUlLHJE
12. Just a quick heads-up to the community: I have been asked by BGM editor and fellow BCer Joel McIver to write a monthly column about the most interesting goings-on in Basschat-land. The first, an introduction, will be published in the May issue, out on May 5th. The idea is to highlight useful, informative topics and follow their developments on Basschat throughout the month, offering BGM's readership our take on bass-related themes, a bit of humour, and quotations from actual posts. Watch this space
13. Admiral Nelson in Whitton last Saturday. Dancers in crutches, people watching from outside the pub, and a lot of mad antics, not all of which are shown here. Great fun Curious punter watching the band from the street It's a miracle! She walks!
14. All current Warwick necks are thin, like really thin, and very kind to the fretting hand, in my opinion. I now have a variety of Warwick 5-stringers and they all have 17mm string spacing, standard 45mm nut, and D-shaped necks. They're not lightweight, though.
15. I will almost certainly be out of the country on that date. Edit - in fact, I think mid-July to end of August would equal shooting the bash in the foot, as many people will be on holiday. A date in June would be far preferable.
16. Could probably do, let me check a few things and I'll PM you.
17. Never had any problem with missing details when buying from Thomann...
18. Sean, if you post this on FB I can share - I have several West London musos in my friends list. Incidentally, next weekend is Easter, and I won't be at home, otherwise I would have been happy to help al least with camera work.
19. Second gig for the band in this large, friendly pub near Twickenham. Come along if you're in the area
20. By the way, the guys have put up a survey page to get your bouquets or brickbats, and hear your advice for next year: http://www.londonbassguitarshow.com/uncategorized/london-bass-guitar-show-2015-survey/
21. No avatars in my search results - it probably only works if you're constantly logged into Google Plus (which I'm not), so that the results take advantage of the temporary cache on your computer. You are probably seeing avatars of people you have interacted with here on BC in the last few days/weeks/months.
22. I'm sorely disappointed that I only appear in the results with one of my worst ever photos of myself. On the other hand, there's one nice photo of Laurence Cottle at the Herts bash which comes from one of my blogs, and three pics of our gorgeous Ped modelling BC polos
23. Tweeted to Basschat followers. Good luck in recovering it, can't be of much use to the majority of bass players.
24. Thanks for that - I'm tweeting your blog to Basschat's followers as we speak
25. You can also offer them in the Recycling forum on here, asking for postage only.
