Hi all, Where’s the best (cheapest lol) place to get a NYXL 4 string set ? And what gauges do they come in please ? If I can’t get these I’ll just go for regular ss (4 string standard tuning). What’s your favourite place to get strings period ? cheers Simon

Looks good Lee650 ... so how about a little demo of the kind of various sounds you can get out of your setup ? Hoping video files can be added to threads Moderators ? This applies to all BCers with pedal boards, just think it would make this thread even better. (I’m awaiting some new switches for my ‘ramp’ pedal so I’ll post once new board complete lol)

Which bass cab and amp do I need for a small studio?
sifi2112 replied to EgorI's topic in Amps and Cabs
I wouldn’t try competing with the pros unless you intend to try make some money out of it .. studio we record bought a Neve preamp & fancy mic (for bass drum) that set him back £2.5 grand or so .. pro level gear gets real expensive quickly, just look a the prices of studio compressors etc ... -

sifi2112 replied to EgorI's topic in Amps and Cabs
As most people are going ‘featherweight’ you could go the other way & get the (older) heavy stuff as there’s a lot of great quality gear going pretty cheap coz no one wants to lug it not a problem for you if it stays put in your studio. Just make sure if you go combo you can unplug the speaker so you have the option of try different amps (or cabs) & maybe look for quiet fans or convection cooling if mixing at low volume. Also, cranking a small amp might be desirable opposed a large powerful amp .. just my 2c -
That 1001rb head is said to be too powerful to get the classic GK growl (I’ve only had 700 & 400) but might if you’re having to drive the 210 hard (don’t blow it) .. the price definitely looks good if all’s working well

Yeah sounded fab at rehearsal.. Darkglass B7K driving it a bit a harder & had some volume spare, was at maybe 80% so it passed the stage level requirement. However it wasn’t as easy to move with the castors as I’d hoped so I’ve now added a top strap / little plastic corners & replaced heavy castors with rubber feet as I’ve got a telescopic sack cart to move it. Unfortunately there’s still just one down side it just too heavy to gig regular for me. I keep all my gear on 2nd floor. I’m guessing around 35kg as it feels similar to my Bagend 212 which weighs that much .. the ply I used is quite heavy but real quality & I maybe over built it a bit. The GK weighs 6kg so I could put a super light class D in ... still it looks good & more importantly sounds great !
